Quote:*wonders what Avatea would think about this*And I was the one to start it!
Yes yes, go ahead. Scroll back up and look. You'll find me there.
I can't stand the French, don't get my started, we'll be here all day.
Oh to hell with it, I'll get started myself.
The French have incredible engineers. Truly, the rear-view mechanism in their tanks is impeccable. How else would they see the battle?
Myself, I'm not taking sides if this erupts into conflict and I'll refuse to comment -
It's on the announcement forum

Was posted there last night -

wwwwwww4567sssIt will be squashed again soon I hope.

Well, influence and prestige was also doubled, so it could have been a good chance to rake in some of that for later use.

That one has been there since Issue 11. It's of Cyrus Oliver Thompson (I think that's the name). There's a TF in Ouroboros explaining a bit about it, and that one in turn is based on a story in the CoH comic book.
-
I'd like to see these also. And the assorted enemies from ToT doors. Vampires, werewolves, zombies (that don't have the glowing runes BP zombies have), ghosts and especially the Coven (who I think look cooler than the Cabal). Unseelies would be neat too.

Well a lot of NPCs have strange skin colors for some reason, especially in the upper Longbow ranks. Fought some commanders this weekend with purple skin (was leveling my villains), the one that gives repeatable missions in Warburg has green skin and the one in Siren's Call has blue skin. White skin seems to be somewhat common.

Quote:Can't see it well in that picture, but it seems to me that it's a wing raider commander. Those have white uniforms instead of green. You can find a whole bunch of them in Terra Volta, usually together with sky skiffs.I'm aware that this one is probobly well known, but I'm committed to bring you oddness, darnit!
Albino Sky Raider -
Some devouring earth (bladegrass, razorvine etc) like to pretend they are trees as well. And others seem to think they are werewolves, howling and roaring a lot.

It's probably the one that's been on the training room for a little bit. When it was patched there, they said notes would be coming but I've yet to see any really. Hopefully they'll post some soon unless they like us to guess what's changed.

Quote:Probably why Independence Port (the largest zone I can think of) and Talos Island (also fairly large) are made up of so much water.References to the War Walls coming down were sly references to the upcoming Rikti Invasions. Even with the force field section down (the walls themselves don't come down), you can't go to other zones, for there are no other zones past the walls -- just a few building shells to give the impression there is.
In a game where SuperSpeed is limited to 92 mph for game engine reasons, you will never see a seamless city without an improvement in the servers by an order of magnitude... so, that's at least a few years away, and more likely for a CoH2 if it ever is developed. There's just too much geometry to keep track of and to try to load in the background while you're moving around. Try visiting and SuperSpeeding around all the zones and watch your memory usage go from .8 GB to 1.8 GB.
WoW does it because of the simple geometry, textures, and slow movement. CoH can't handle it... for now. And it was never promised. -
Quote:Well I also remember a dev post (from BAB maybe) on the subject of the war walls coming down saying "and during rikti invasions they do" or something to that effect.I don't believe so. I remember one of the old dev written "news articles" where the city council wanted to tear them down because they were not needed since the rikti threat was gone. I think it was supposed to be a teaser, but it was badly timed... by the time it was posted, the issue where the Rikti returned had already gone to the test server and ruined it.
I think that the devs really had no intention of removing the war walls, it was meant to forward the story and got obliterated by really bad timing. -
I think that is what "the war walls will come down" statement from the developers was all about in the first place.

This has been the state of the sign over the tunnel from Skyway City to Kings Row since the Faultline revamp (Issue 8).
I bugged it in the game when Issue 8 was in testing, and may have posted about it on the European forums at the time as well. It seems that nothing's been done to it in the close to three years since it got broken though (Issue 8 launched in November 2006). Maybe I am the only one that sees it like that and/or cares. I know it's minor/trivial but it seems like it wouldn't take long to fix, and the attention is in the little details sometimes. -
I was over on Union the whole weekend, taking my villains (or 8 of them anyway) from level 14 to level 16 something, solo. The last time they got any attention was around a year ago when it was double xp also. And while I *could* get almost as much xp using patrol xp, the mission complete bonus isn't increased there like it is with double xp. Doing patrol missions in Bloody Bay (limiting myself to one an hour per character up to the max of three) almost got me a full bar of xp each time which I then followed up with the missions for the Wanted and Agent Provocateur badges.

Not a big fan of that one myself, which is why I typically leave Croatoa after finishing Gordon Bower's missions and not moving on to Skipper's and beyond. I think the only time I've managed to pull it off (of the 2-3 times I've gotten it) without severely outlevelling it was with my storm summoning defender, with hurricane running. A few still got through, but it helped a lot.

Well, when I want to dicuss the game as a whole, I'll probably use the City Life forum since that kind of is for gameplay discussion. However, since the EU servers are still seperate from the US ones there are some matters that only apply there, and those are best discussed in here.

Quote:Noticed by me as well, and mentioned above. It wanted my game login password (similar to what's needed for the forums for another MMO I play occasionally).PS - the above might be in reaction to having taken 15 mins to log in whilst trying to figure out what fiendish combo of user name and password this evil, hellish contraption wanted to be fed with... for some weird (or possibly sadistic) reason it wasn't the same combo I used in the old forums.
