If you watch the weekly UStream chats, you’ve heard me mention that the Paragon Studios Community Relations team has had a recent addition. Well, we’re happy to formally introduce you all to Kevin “Freitag” Callanan, our new Community Moderator. Freitag can also be found performing his moderation duties as Mod 13. As a native German speaker, Freitag will be an integral part of our continued outreach to the European Community. Although this is his first foray into community management, Freitag is a long time gamer (MMORPG, Pen and Paper, and TCG/CCG’s) who brings a strong background in customer relations to bear in his new role.
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Freitag!

We've identified some issues where the naming filter for MA is being a bit overzealous. Right now we're on compiling a working list of which filters are actually causing this and evaluating how best to proceed.
No ETA on a fix just yet, but we'll keep you updated.
Thanks for the reports all and apologies if your missions/your favorite missions are effected.

While I certainly can't comment on the humorous nature of some of these comments...nope not at all...not even a little bit...I can let you know that we've included some of the qualitative feedback herein about the frequency at which players are experiencing cut scenes.
While the sentiment is definitely understood, with the current system we're not able to provide an option to skip the cut scene.
If there's a change in this, we'll update you all. -
We're investigating the issue. Thanks for the reports everyone.

It's a strange phenomenon, the media's obsession with branding things that we've been doing in the MMO-sphere for years as "new" and "cutting edge". To this day I'm still amazed at people who refer to Community Management as a "new" career path.
I think it's pretty neat that we all consider this old news at this point. We're just so darned progressive . -
This is a case of a staged announcement that should never have been published. We often times craft messages well in advance and stage them for publishing when the news needs to be announced. Yes, April 26th was a date we were talking about for the Global Server Access activation, however it's not the actual date. Rest assured that because of the potential extended downtime, we want to give everyone at least 5 days to prepare for the Auth merge/maintenance surrounding it.
Apologies for any confusion about this and we're getting the post pulled down right now.
Thanks!

So normally I try to post a Happy Friday post.
Today, I'm going to ask you all to jump on Ustream if you can so we can test the new updates they did. We heard rumor from the community that they may have done some bad things, so we need to make sure it works before next Thursday's official stream!
Come and join us on Ustream, starting now!

OCR #1: "I think it means 'hit stuff.'"
Zwillinger: "Put that down. And someone find out what 'epitomistic' means and what the hell it has to do with fun speed."
OCR #2: "Are you sure that's an F? I think its an R."
Positron: "Hey Z, any chance I can get that post up by close of business Today?"
Zwillinger: "Get the &^*# out of my office, Miller."
Positron: "So, Thursday morning then?"
Zwillinger: ...
I do believe Arcanaville just made a funny.
(also, have you ever tried translating transcolaminating orthogonal attribmod execution into German? IT BLOWS THE MIND MAN!) -

Quote:There will be some special stuff happening on the 28th (announcements will be coming soon) however there's more to come during the month of May.I'd just like to see an announcement as to whether there is anything special planned for the 28th, or whenever the actual anniversary date is.
I usually take a day, or a half-day, off work to participate in the GM and AV hunts, but I need to give advance notice.
One thing I can confirm is that we'll be hosting our next official (as in we turn on the recording) UStream chat on the 28th. Our special guests will be Gilbert "El Topo" Martinez, Matt "Positron" Miller and Nate "Second Measure" Birkholz!
We'll of course post an official announcement, but I wanted to share this with you now. -
Server hiccup!
(It's being looked into as we speak. Apologies for the inconvenience!) -
Just thanking everyone in advance for keeping this conversation civil and on topic. Please keep in mind that we're going into the weekend, so there probably won't be many responses to questions until sometime next week.
Thanks!

Quote:Tie a bow on it and Bob's your uncle.Well bally ho, the servers are down wotwot, well stone the crows I'll be surprised that those devious devs appear to have made a kerfuffle on the timing of the maintenance of the servers I say good man.
The timing is poppycock as you would say.
But it does give me time for tea.
Which is just bully.
There you happy now Sam? -
Not quite sure what this has to do with Comics or Villains, unless there's some sort of Super Hero Nacho Flavored Taco tie in.

Quote:The ones I do from my desktop usually run fairly smoothly, as long as I remember to shut down whatever resource hogs I'm running (so basically nothing that's Adobe Air ).I was on it with them for the 600-odd person stream (that was at 3am UK Time) and it was pretty okay - the issue tends to be the PC in question, and what else is running on it.
I guess the streaming software is a real bandwidth/resource hog. Since they've planne dit in advance, hopefully they'll be taking all precautions reasonable to make it a smooth stream.
Or not
We actually took a look at the "official" UStream cast and will be forgoing the laptop next time. It's going to be interesting to see how it goes with the next one, but we'll manage something with a more robust machine.
It's a shame, I figured that the laptop would be able to handle it because it was a pretty beefy little beast. -
If we could wait for this maintenance we would. The fixes that are going in are actually very important fixes to several mapserver crash issues which we felt to be important enough to get to live before the weekend. Obviously the time slot isn't ideal for the EU Community, and we did everything we could to get it earlier in the day (ideal would have been during our normal maintenance window starting at 5 AM PDT).
I hope that folks will join us via UStream tomorrow evening (morning for us) as we pass the time with whatever member of the dev team happens to stop by (it's usually a mystery who's going to pop in on the Coffee Talks...sometimes it's Doc Aeon, sometimes War Witch, and sometimes Sexy Jay pokes his head over our wall).
Thanks!

Murphy actually does his work pro-bono and we usually push him out the door as soon as he shows up.
In all seriousness, we really appreciate everyone's patience over the last few weeks. Right now we're working on ironing out some crash issues and really digging into the feedback we've been receiving since Issue 20 went live, so thanks for bearing with the bumps and hiccups along the way!
