This, and thread drops. I really don't think table rewards are based on participation.

No one has ever really said that, not in this thread and not in general.
I have seen it in multiple build threads over the past two weeks, and not just for Regen. As I stated before I can see that Regen need something to make it work again.

Then I have been misunderstanding what you are stressing, and I would like to more clearly see what you are stressing.

As for the rest of your post, yes I do think the position you take is a bit extreme. If you find that fun though, then more power to you. Death at lvl 50 is another badge.

Now I like not dieing as much as any scrapper. I love to see others eat floor while I am still standing, I just see more than one way of achieving that. My point is that there is no one way that is above and beyond the best way in a game with as many variables as this game has. There are just so many things to be taken into account when survivability is the goal.

I am at a point with my main (KM/EleA) where I only die if I am goofing off (chatting is the usual culprit), or get family agro. I promise a 3yo can kill a toon faster than any AV in the game. It seems like people come here, and the only build advice given is "more def!" I have also already admitted that may be a misconception on my part.

To go with my Horse example earlier. +Def has become a box, and people are not wanting to think outside that box. I like what is outside that box, it makes me different. It makes it even more exciting for me when I live through what is considered unconventional building. Now, that may be as extreme a position as yours is about the ITF death rate.
  3. I have to admit Werner that after that post my respect for you went up many notches. I really don't disagree with anything you just said, and that includes the treatment Regen gets. Regen did what it was suppose to do, and the devs gutted it, a work around had to be found.

Thank you for the very thoughtful reply.
  4. Werner it was me who pulled the post, because it was a gripe and didn't really add to the discussion. It was more me venting about a personal peeve I have.

My /ElecA scrapper is not build for +def, yet he is often still standing when the SR and Shield scrappers around me are on the ground. Perhaps it is my tactic, my survivability increases because the mobs I am fighting never have any end. Maybe it is because all but one (toxic) resists are over 59% (energy is over 75%), maybe I am just a better player than the ones who fall. The incarnate system just makes me even better at my method of survival by giving me even more ways to keep mob end at 0.

I am not discounting the method of +def, but there seems to be the general thinking on these boards that you should sacrifice anything and everything to hit the soft cap. To me it is like trying to take a plow horse, and turn it into a race horse. Those who don't want to build that way end up getting insulted by someone.

Some +def is great, no doubt, but at the cost of Regen on a Regen? I am just not seeing it, and doubt I ever will. On SR and Shield I think it is awesome, because +def is their design focus. It seems to me the sets will work better when building to strengths, and not trying to make up for a perceived weakness.

I think my larger issue is the insults (which may be a misinterpretation on my part) that seem to end up directed at non +def builds. Shoot, I haven't posted a build here in over 2 years because of it. There are times when the numbers don't always match reality, and I grant that may be because of the "player skill" variable.

Its not offered as a viable option, but as a bullet point: Look there is another way!

Even though that other way is a massively punative monument to stupidity!

And for the people telling me: Take your time:

Well the Trials are already petering out on virtue. Its getting REALLy hard to get into a lambda run after a week as people have stopped playing it. I haven't really STARTED on my Freedom toon and I am massively worried.

So If I don't man up and put up with repeating these two missions NOW while the rest of the playerbase is Putting up with it, its less and less likely I will ever get slots done.

Things will be even worse come the next slots because we all know they will be using INCARNATE SOULS or something, that will have an even more punative conversion method, and no one will be running the "old" trials any longer.

Most people I know are getting one toon kitted out and then they stop logging in. Its probably what I will do once I finish my mains on Virtue and Freedom.

I got on one at 7:45am EST today. I don't think people are going to stop running these any time soon.

I feel this exact same way. I went with Warworks because I liked the way Viki looked the best. With that said, she never dies before her time is up, even in the big AV fights.

Even with that, until they give me options that fit my concept I will not go past t3, if there wasn't a level shift I would have skipped it all together.

I am really surprised at how much (female dog)ing is going on over I20.
I LOVE i20, I LOVE the incarnate system, but this is all stuff they were warned about in beta. Go read the multiple suggestions about allowing more ways to get threads. No one even wanted an "easy" way to get them, we all just wanted more ways.

I am doing the trials over and over because these powers add so much to my character, not only numerically, but conceptually. I am a KM/EleA scrapper, who is an Avatar of Storms. I now have a LIGHTNING attack which is AWESOME. I have Grav interface that I use as forceful wind draining and slowing those who attack me. With Destiny I can call upon the storms to rejuvenate me. I am still working out Lore, but I am hopeful they add something that fits.

The point is I am doing it over and over because I love the system, and the concept. I still think some with in the earning system would have been better.
  8. I am a stuff person and gamer. I am not sure I can burn out. I just want more.

I have to agree with Test_Rat here. The solo choice is a bit of a joke.

I am not bored, but I am from a generation of gamers who would grind in games like NES Dragon Warrior just because it is how the game was played.

I don't think anyone realized how driven people would be to get these incarnate powers. I didn't realize it, until it went live. I never had this drive on test, I guess because it didn't matter there. Live is a different story though, I MUST have the incarnate powers.

What is worse is I want multiple trees, and the only way to really work towards it is to do the trials. The 10 for 10 conversion once a day is just painful, and 10 for 5 is just not very efficient. So if I want to progress, I have to do the trials.

I am only doing it with one character, it pains me to think of the players who want to be incarnates on multiple characters. UGH!!

Yes I know more trials are coming, but I have no clue how soon that will be. I am not really sure 4 trials will even be enough to cover the desire people have for these powers. I have to admit it borders on obsessive how bad I want these boosts, and the rewards table has become like playing the lottery. Every time I run the trial I tell myself "This will be the run where I get that very rare table." when I don't I say "next time."

We really are going to need more options for threads, and soon. The best way would be to let any TF run at +4 to drop threads and not shards. If it needs to be more, make it any one run at +4 with temps disabled. This system has HUGE potential, and I love the incarnate stuff, we just need more ways to get the threads and salvage. Keep iXP tied to the trials if you want, but really give us more ways to get threads.

I have run the BAF and Lambda well over 30 times in since i20 went live. I am so tired of that cut scene that it is painful. Guild Wars gives the skip option, and if everyone on the team chooses it, it cancels the scene.

We really need something. It was entertaining the first few times, but around the 25th my eyes started to bleed.
  11. Oh how I wish they would let us disable the cut scenes, or at the least find a way for us to keep chatting during them.
  12. For a long time the soft cap has been the holy grail for characters (scrappers are a very good example), and players have sacrificed to achieve it. For years people have been told their character is not survivable enough because of the lack of +def in their builds. I have always disagreed with this notion.

Characters that are designed to have +def as a focus should be fine on these trials. The real problem will occur for those who have sacrificed other things to achieve the soft cap, and ignored the focus of the power set. Again scrappers come to mind.

I do hope these trials usher in a new way of thinking for builds, but old habits die hard so I doubt it will.

Simply put, endgame stuff screws MMs big time. I pity those that don't have inate defences like Bots/Traps does, because trying to imagine my guy with just SOs, for example, is a very painful image.
I have seen MMs that were awesome in these trials, so I can't agree with this. I know I am always glad to end up paired with one during the escape phase of the BAF.

This is end game content, and I personally feel it should have been created with IO balance in mind, and not the SOs that the rest of the game is built around. I know I am not alone in this notion because it was discussed multiple times during beta.

  16. This is great and all, but everyone keeps missing what Nightstar has going on in that clip. Next time I run the BAF I will snap a pic of that.

    League system

I gotta say it is great! We just used it for a MSR on virtue and it made assembling, and managing so much easier, and fun!

There were 5 or 6 full teams at one point all being shuffled and managed by one person. As LFTs would pop up they could be added as individuals, or whole teams. It was really awesome.

Great job on this one Devs!
  18. Yeah, this is getting a little old. I am also pro paragon, but dang. This is not stuff you could have taken care of in the other 12 or more hours of down time this week? This is swiftly falling into poor customer service.

Since none of my 50s are things that I want to grind raids with, 2X threads this weekend would do exactly nothing for me.
So, it is settled, we should get BOTH!!! OOOO, and we should throw x2 shards in there too!

  21. They stack up to 4 times, so the -recovery would stack up to -40%. It can proc with any damaging attack, and that includes damage auras, pool powers, judgment, and most temps that cause damage.

From what I understand, this is interdependent of any secondary effect of you attack. So KM does -str, and you have the -str incarnate, they would stack separately. I will let you people who are good at math figure out all of the totals and suck.

Generally the rule of thumb is that if it accepts a damage enhancement, then the Interface will apply to it.

Just about anything you could want to know about the Incarnate powers can be found in this thread.

  22. See, it is a conspiracy. They are kicking us from the boards so the world will not see us complain about the servers! Well devs, I have figured out your plan! j/k

The servers and the boards are most likely a related issue. It is frustrating though, I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday, and today I have been putting off taking my pain meds so I could do at least one run with a clear head. I just gave in and took the meds :/
  23. I am pretty easy going, but even I think this is messed up. I was not on that team, but we had just started a Lambda.

The I try to post and the boards kick me 3 times.
