Format for Bind:
/bind key "command"
/bind k "local Farewell, lover"
/bind SHIFT+k "local Farewell, lover"
/bind k "powexec_name Assassination Strike$$local Farewell, lover"
Note, do NOT do this:
/bind k "powexec_name Assassination Strike $$ local Farewell, lover"
While it works in some situations, in my experience, adding the spaces just leads to half-working binds,or binds which don't work at all.
If you'd prefer to use a macro, which you'd activate like a power (and you could use to replace your basic AS power)
Format for Macro:
/macro macro_name "power call"
/macro Assn "powexec_name Assassination Strike$$local Farewell, lover"
Please note, 'local' as used above denotes the channel you speak in. It may be replaced by 'team' or 'say' or whatever else takes your fancy. Also, wherever Assassination Strike is used above, it may be replaced with the appropriate Assassination power for your secondary.
For any more information, there is in-game help for these commands, and many online sites go into some depth on the subject. -

Then we'll have to be careful, Prof, won't we? It's an option

Why are you talking to people who aren't here? Using Controller is the proven way. You want to cram the core with every single AT that turns, you are going to fail. Your powers will stop working, the Mito spawn will lag you out and you'll have to wait five minutes before the game even realises your dead.
Your not just fighting Hamidon, your fighting the technical limitations of the game. Most people who turn up at Hamidon Raids fail to realise this.
[/ QUOTE ]
mmm... I should have quoted, but anyway. Don't know how the Prof got in there. I blame the smurfs.
On the note of Warburg temps, I didn't notice the animation for the one nuke (chemical) I used recently on an outdoor lagging map in CoV to test it. It was about the only thing seemed to me *not* to lag, but it's not exactly a conclusive test. I also have almost all my settings low by default, to cope with the new flame animations, so that may have made a difference, but that at least should be on par with a Hami raid, anyway.
As for Disorients and Confuses - as suggested in a later post - I believe Hami still spawns mitos, but this has never been confirmed on EU servers (to my knowledge). -
(( omg. I got so caught up in all the things I had to do today that I completely forgot to post an update. My bad Same place and same time as yesterday. Everyone once again welcome, although coming tonight presumes that you are either with us, pretending to be with us, or don't have a clue about what went down yesterday and are hoping to find out ))
IC:
Silk Noir carefully places the private dossier of a certain highly placed subordinate in her 'out' tray. A little matter for Ellen to handle personally. This will be the last time a mistake of such magnitude will be made in her organisation. The invites for the follow-up to the Grand Ball will go out as promised, but at such a time as to be useless to their intended purpose. She sighs irritably. Such a scandal! The Noir family does not make mistakes of this nature. Mother will be quite upset... Silk grimaces.
Anyway, that is neither here nor there. She will just have to hope the invitees will come as *they* promised. Otherwise this could all get quite messy before the end. Well, it'll still get messy, but it's her job to limit the degree of... untidiness. It is irksome to be cleaning up after someon else, though. To fail in completely detroying the Senate - the League must have been under very poor management at the time. She should find out if any of the beaurocrats had families, and if they survive to this day. The human race may need some culling. She makses a mental note to look into it later. It's always a good idea to plan for the future.
If they do not come, then it will all balance. In the end... If they survive... there will be less competition to deal with. She frowns. It would be a waste of good resources, though.

It was a joint strategy fine-tuned for the EU servers by certain Defiant and Union players, but which was originally taken from the US Champion server.

Correct. Ambushes do not by default see through stealth. They DO have you auto-targetted, so I don't quite get how that works, but I have on many occassions got criticals on ambushes - at least until they find me and get a successful hit on me - and completely avoided some. The key is to remember that the AI is stupid, and to attack them first.

One wacky idea could be Synchronized Orbital Strike.
The Warburg missiles offer one-shot high damage attack, chemical debuffs damage resistance and biological buffs ally damage.
When enough of these get fired all at once it might help the small number of heroes to get over the 50% threshold more easily. On the other hand they are graphic intensive so they could just lag out everyone.

Now here's someone who's thinking out the box, to use a cliche. If the temps prove useful, are there any others from Siren's or BB we could use? -
(( No worries, Wonka. I got it Your tone was obvious enough, even without the smiley. You are correct, as well. Tsk.
Thanks for all the reponses, luvs. Whether or not this goes anywhere, I made the effort I promised certain people I would, and your responses have made me smile, and that is enough for me)) -
Well, you see now, there is where we differ. I don't see failure as an end. I see it as a stepping stone.

My opinion on the thread topic:
I feel you are only limited by the game in so far as you allow yourself to be.
It you *really* want to RP, you won't let something like hardcoded plotlines get in your way. Even the free-form RP in GG basically deliberately ignores certain in-built game plotlines, which are evident even if you don't do the tutorial. The City design limits you doesn't it? The fact that there are hundreds of other heroes limits your RP as well doesn't it? I mean, rather difficult to play a Batman type alt when every 5th person you pass on the street is yet *another* caped crusader. There are no 'dark' urban zones either.
However, no one who plays in GG is limited by these things. Why? They choose not to be. Simple as that. I fail to see how the same degree of free-will cannot be applied to CoV.
Anyway, now I've said my piece, this will be the last I say on the matter. No point in posting anything else. See those who want to be there, at the event tonight. Otherwise, enjoy your RP wherever and however you do it.

The timezone I'm using is GMT, which also happens to be the UK time atm. I, myself, am GMT+2, and will easily be online at least a full hour before the event.
So: Friday, December 2, 9pm (GMT) -
I think the meat of this point has been convered, but since so many related points have been made, I'd like to respond anyway, and on a more general basis:
Katy, in particular, makes many good points about stalking, but her ideas on stalking are very specific, and won't be to everyone's taste (This isn't a stab at you, luv. I'm just going to attack this from another angle.)
I have a lvl 36 EN/Nin Stalker, so I've pretty much run the gamut of powers at my disposal: I don't think I've sacrificed any of my DMG output. I can easily accomplish the same feats Katy described.
However, I have all my defensive powers, and they're slotted to max. It's a concious decision I made early on, to see how effective those powers would actually be, and because I come from scrapping in CoH. I was aware enough of my own playstyle to know that a little defense would keep me alive long enough to learn the Stalker AT properly.
At lower levels, I found it to be more draining than useful, except against AoE, and the perception boost from Danger Sense has served me well in PvE, and on one occassion in PvP so far. I would take Danger Sense (or it's equivalent) early on, and slot it with end reduces to begin. At higher levels, with 3 +def SOs slotted, these powers become quite useful. I've tanked +2 longbow bosses and their minions. Granted I had to use 1 medium luck (+DEF insp), but all that did was improve the effectiveness of my existing defense by 33%. So I was most of the way to tanking them already. Once I get my ultimate secondary, I won't even need the luck anymore, and then I'd be quite keen to stand toe to toe with a regen scrapper running DP and IH, and see how long it takes for that insufferable grin to drop from his smug male face. (Well, a girl can dream right? :P)
I would say that it ultimately depends on your playstyle, but build up, and Kuji-in Rin are key to your survival at lowe levels. Mez protection and the doubled dmg output are simply too big to ignore. I mean, you can live without them, but do you want to? -

im a lvl 26 in shark head and i cant get no more contacs ive only ever had 1 there and he didnt introduce me to any more. so i started doing paper mish agine then pulled a job but i didnt get a contac . does any one no why this is cold it to be with my lvl as i got power lvl to 26 befor i went back to shark head.some one was saying somthing about rep cold any one tell me what he is talking about and how do i get a new contac as i wold like to solve some more storys there or is there a lvl restriction
[/ QUOTE ]
Sharkead is a level 20 to 30 zone, but the initial contacts you get from the broker are lvl 20-25 contacts. So you had outlevelled those contacts. Each of those contacts should, in theory, give you another contact at level 26. If you go back and talk to that contact you outlevelled now, he should give you another contact.
That said, Nerva is a lvl 25-40 zone, and I suspect, rlhugh I can't prove it, that St. Martial is, as well. Officially, St. Martial is 30-40 -
Fair enough. I was being facetious, and you're right in that it was uncalled for. No excuses.
I apologise to Ravenswing.
However, I would like to say that a negative attitude fosters negative responses from your environment, and I will attempt to take my own words to heart
My initial response was specifically to Wordmaker's post. After reading a few more posts, I'd also like to point out that I did not insult his intelligence. I make a point of never insulting another person's *ability* to think. I simply do not have the right.
I was insulting his inclination or *desire* to think, and therein, as I said, I was completely out of line. I pride myself on my use of langauge, and I could have said my piece without resorting to verbal thuggery. -
It's something I've just thrown together on the spur of the moment. I'm very good at winging. Planning too, but sometimes winging is more fun.
I realise the notice is short, though, so if there are enough people who would like to attend this but can't, I don't mind postponing it until Saturday. Would that suit all respondents so far? An extra day could go far, although I realise some of us actually do things in RL on weekends
If the response is truly overwhelming, then I may postpone it until next week, but since we need to get this going sooner rather than later, I'm actually quite loathe to do so. -
Hello, DK. I'm up for another Hamidon raid anytime. I'll take up Hami tank duty again. I've been training up new people every time we do it, so why not some more?
I'll also have to clear my debt quickly, so that I have room for more. :P Be sure to give us fair warning of the date... -
Hi. Two questions from a non-troller:
1) Let's say we go with 6-slotting for mez, right, diminishing returns notwithstanding. Then let's say we rely on kineticits for +recharge. Would that not cover the points on faster holds raised in this thread, while allowing us that tiniest bit of extra holding power? Maybe that critical edge we need?
2) Also, what about Power Boost. I believe it's part of the energy blaster set, but it's also a defender epic. This boots secondary effects like holds, not so?. If I'm remembering this correctly, then that would be quite advantageous during the holding phase, not so? -
I consider myself a casual role-player at best, but after coming across many lost role-player souls, and given the surprising lack of anything more established, I have decided to lend my organisational skills, such as they are, to the task of getting the CoV RP community going.
In order to do this, and after having discussed it with some of the - I feel - prominent members of the CoH RP community, I am going to use the premise behind my main, and the SG I belong to, as a foundation to arrange a gathering of Villains. Please read this thread for details.
This is a specific response to Ravenswing the Doomsayer: the simplest and I would think the most likely reason for a multitude of villains to get together would be self-interest, but if such an obvious point failed to escape your notice, perhaps the other even MORE obvious answer would be Paragon City. If I were a villain just recently released from incarceration in Paragon, and trying to make a name for myself in a new place, a place which has a history of conflict with that *same* city, I'd be willing to ally myself with whoever I had to, in order to exact my vengeance, and possibly gain some notoriety in the process... I mean, I could always turn on my allies later, when an opportune moment presents itself... Maybe when I find stronger allies. There... that took me all of 5 minutes. Amazing what the mind can do, when you choose to use it. -
Good lord, I completely forgot to say when this would take place 0.0 Friday evening, 2 December, 9pm.
(( OOC: My english may be a bit high-handed, so to sum up the RP text below: I, Silk Noir, am on the Board of Directors for the League of Associated Industries (SG = League of Scoundrels), and I'm inviting everyone who reads this to attend a party gathering, where we intend to make you an offer of sorts - one we believe will benefit everyone there. Essentially it's an excuse to get everyone together and start networking, much like villains in RL do - maybe even get some plotlines going. Do not forget that we all have a common enemy in Paragon City. We might have to unit simply to take them out. If none of these reasons are motivation enough, you can all still come and have a damn good time - it IS a party after all.
Location: Aeon City, Cap au Diable. Now, I KNOW this will exclude some of the lower level villains, and I'm sorry about that, but well, it's a tough world in the Isles. Only the strongest survive. Anyone who doesn't like that, is probably playing the wrong game, and should buy CoH. You can then join the nice kisses and flowers RP community which is thriving there. HOWEVER, I will personally be available to help anyone who wants to risk a low level to get to Cap. I would recommend you be at least lvl 10, though. By then, you're no longer quite fresh meat, imo. Also from an RP perspective you've passed the initial 'test' put to you after Breakout, and Arachnos has decided that you might be worth something. Since Arachnos are the dominant power in these Isles, it then implies that anyone who wants to deal with Arachnos, must also at least take notice of your existance, even if only to try and squash it
In the RP I've set it up so we're on neutral territory, with no possibility of 'outside' agressive influence. There is a nice big square/ public area just to the west of the huge globe (actually an atom molecule) in which we could all gather, or we could gather under the monument itself. Either way, I think it'll work, and it's on the same scale as Atlas or GG in CoH.
I've also already got som buy-in from a couple of experienced role-players from CoH, so this would be a great time to meet their CoV alts, and find some friends to RP with, if nothing else. New people should also view this an a good opportunity to get in early, and grow with the community. Possibly even help drive the community All things are possible. ))
Role-Play or IC (In character):
* The gold-engraved, filligreed, personal invitation reads as follows *
Greetings, Destined One !
I do hope this message finds you in good health. My associates and I have high hopes that you will be able to attend our little soiree. We have slowly been compiling a list of all the Destined Ones who have been making a name for themselves, and it is our fervent desire that you all join us to celebrate a new beginning. You see, we believe that we can help you, and perhaps you can help us. Now... and into the future. At any rate, it wouldn't hurt to listen to our proposal. Should you choose not to accept our mutually beneficial offer, you will of course still be able to enjoy the party. We are sparing no expense. We consider this an investment in our future, and the furture of the Rogue Isles.
I realise that safety will be a concern for you. After all, these Isles are but recently tamed, and all manner of unsavoury and dangerous elements abound. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that I inform you of the location for this prestigious event: Aeon City ! In Cap au Diable, under that beautiful monument to science and ingenuity so prominently displayed in the main square. I am told that Dr. Aeon is most pleased that we will be gracing his city, and has assured us that the Arachnos drones will gaurd us against all external threat. If any kind of weapon is brought within 100 yards of the square, I'm afraid the would-be attackers will meet a most unpleasant end. Furthermore, there will be several quite powerful barriers - the details of which I confess I do not fully understand - erected around us to gaurd against any foes who might seek to bring us harm while cowering many miles away. So, on that account, you need not fear!
At this point, you will no doubt be pondering the origins of this most gracious invitation, and wonder at the identity of it's author. You will please forgive me for not introducing myself sooner. I am Silk Noir, and most pleased to make your acquiantance. I have sent you this invite on behalf of the League of Associated Industries. We have recently developed several promising ventures in these Isles, but we are a little concerned: how will we be able to grow our business in these perilous times, with Paragon City set to meddle in our affairs, simply because we will not conform to their narrow ideals. I ask you: Where has freedom gone? The true freedom to choose our own path, which the good and just are quick to preach is the right of every sentient, yet which they attempt to deny us! Which they have denied us already !! The Zig is not so old in our memories. The indignity not so easily forgotten. The inhumanity not so easily forgiven.
I must apologise again. It is not my wont to rant so, but I cannot abide hypocrisy.
To continue with the matter at hand, the League cordially invites you to attend the first Grand Ball of the new Millenium, here in the Rogue Isles! We are certain it will be a night to remember. We trust that you will make it so.
Sincere Regards
Silk Noir

People have made allusions to the proposed changes to AS for Stalkers, so I thought I'd to link to an official word on it
Thanks to Bridger for this post, and for linking to this post in another thread which I happened to be reading, and have shamelessly emulated -
Hey, Disco
I'm interested atm, but will wait for the content updates. Any idea on the eta? -
I'll lead the Hami tank team again. I'll round up the usual Emps, and if CB is available for backup tank again, that'd be great. If anyone else wants to volunteer as backup, pls pm me on here or email Velvet Noir in CoH, and Silk Noir in CoV
-
I have a different Primary completely from yours - Dark Melee, and yet, my slotting is virtually identical. Great.
The Regen slotting is pretty obvious now. Where before it was a toss up how you went in *some* respects, now it's a no-brainer. Only thing I might do different is 3-slot IH for heals as well. When you use it you want it to *really* work for you, but only if you can spare the slots...
Loving the sameness already. *sigh* -
Anybody taking this up ?
I can offer 10 million prize influence in support. It's not much, but it would at least make some mid-level toons happy -
The past...
The Death Dancers regretfully announce their dissolution. There were too many inactive leaders, and those of use who still play regularly feel this to be a poor reflection on the SG as a whole, which is in fact filled with some great people We also almost never have to throw a wake, so the name doesn't really work anymore
The future...
(RP - can skip)
The core, active leaders of the Death Dancers, one of many dedictaed supergroups fighting the tides of villainy in Paragon, gathered one Night, in the absence of the moon, when the dark was all around... and deliberated on the fate of those Dark souls, and friends of the dark, who still believe in the pursuit of justice and freedom through honour, integrity, and bravery. From this fateful meeting, were born the Shades of Darkness.
(The essence of this post - pls don't skip)
I, madames, and gentlemen, am here - on behalf of the newly formed Shades of Darkness SG - to invite any members with a leaning towards the dark, or find themselves sympathising with these wretched souls, to team with us in-game. If you like us, and we like you, then you are more than welcome to join our group. We are not an RP-group, but we do liberally flavour our gaming with some RP every now and then - basically whenever we feel like it
We consider ourselves a loose online family of friends, and we're always willing to extend our arms that little bit further. We're looking for players who don't mind lending a helping hand when necessary, who believe in teamwork, and basically are just playing the game to have loads of fun. Being driven to achieve, while welcome, is purely optional
(We help anyone)
Alternatively, if you're just in need of some assistance in-game, feel free to message any of us and ask. We've picked up a thing or two along the way, and are always willing to pass along what we know This includes badge-hunting, although that is almost exclusively my obsession :P
