And Sticks. Other than time, the old excuses flew out the window when Staff was added and it had plain a staff, and a staff with a blade on it. The old argument was that the damage type didn't fit, that seems a bad reason not to include a weapon model in the current game.

Thanks for reading that thread HB. I wanted to note that the new sets on beta (Water, Nature, and Bio) all look so amazing that it really highlights how long in the tooth the old animations and FX are. That is not a complaint, it is just a fact that you guys are better than those who came before. I am not sure if it is skill, or new tech, but the new stuff is flat out better.
I really hope the FX team and the Animation team really consider adding some newness to old sets a little at a time.
There are some offenders that are worse than others. Ice Armor comes to mind first and foremost. It really just looks bad when compared to even earth. Well, now it has to be compared to Bio Armor which looks flat out phenomenal.
Now I have a request.
I love the FX of Bio Armor, what I would like to see is an energy armor that works like that, but is transparent (may not be the correct word) and glows. Much like GL armor is in some comics.
Thanks! -

Personally I think all of the PB melee powers should be KD instead of KB. I have no issue with the blasts, but I want to melee with my PB which is why I went Human Form in this build.

Quote:The deletion of purple recipes on level 50 characters was just one of the few effects we players actually saw. According to several developers, attempting to implement the new enhancement slots also broke other things under the hood.
And as to how the additional slots would cause loss of purples: I'm fairly sure nothing concrete has been said by a dev, but the most likely guess is that the number of enhancement slots and character level are so connected that increasing the total number of slots caused the game to internally see such characters as something other than level 50, thus rendering the level-50-only enhancers as null. Again, this is just a guess.
And before anybody says it: No, characters are NOT above 50 if they have level shifts.
It was just an issue of grabbing them at the trainer. I respeced to get my 3 extra slots during that beta, and I didn't lose a single IO. Which reminds me that it didn't always happen, it just could happen.
There was also a bug where it could stop you from leveling at all if you were over 30 and didn't have the slots.
In the end it was felt that it was ing poor quality to force every character over lvl 30 to do a respec before they could move forward in the game. So, another method was being looked for to give us those extra three slots.
Adding them to lvl 50 is just one suggestion. Another would be to give +1 slot for every incarnate power that gives a level shift. We may lose the level shift outside of incarnate content, but those slots would still be useful.
Synapse was very clear that he wanted us to have those extra slots. I would not be surprised if he finds a way to get them to us at some point. -
I call BS on that one. Not BS that he said it, because I saw him say the same several times. I say BS because we BEGGED for the cone in KM to be changed to KD in Kinetic Melee and he flat refused and balance was his whole argument. Because of this, the power sucks and I rarely see a KM build that has it.
-
Quote:I find that to be BS because Incarnate powers can be customized. I really don't see how working pools in would be any different.Don't quote me on this, but didn't one of the art designers say once that actually making customizable effects for pool powers wouldn't be that huge a job? And that the real problem is that tweaking the UI would be a massive pain in the ***?
Honestly, Paragon Studios needs to hire a legit UI designer to work on CoH. -
Quote:With the scrapper ATIO set PS is up a LOT though. Km and StJ would be the two primaries I would suggest. Then of course you are going to get a lot of mileage out shield for the +dmg it offers, EA offers +Rech which is really nice. The problem I have found with scrappers and fire is that every thing runs from burn.kinetic melee/energy armor. I have one as a brute and have been told it is much better on scrappers because of power siphon recharging on critical hits.
I really enjoy mine, but I HATE the mechanic of power siphon.
Elec armor is a good pick because it has some of the same tools as EA, but again it lacks a taunt aure, same problem with the damage aura in DA.
Shield and EA both have a taunt aura, so they would be my picks to keep things near to you to fight. I hate to say it, but if you want straight up ST damage, look at the stalker these days. They however are still not as survivable in a lot of situations. -
You are really going to want to take energy drain a lot sooner than 49. There is not much I have not done with the build below, but I also have a lot of inf to pull from. YMMV.
Good luck, it is a great combo.

Quote:Not to look crazy or anything, I kind of agree. Titan Weapons is a better version of Super Strength imo.And that would be for what, the laughable piece of crap that is Hand Clap?
Or the stunningly mediocre Jab, Punch and Haymaker trio?
Or the joke that is Hurl, which outside of PvP is a waste of a pick except for flavour.
Two-thirds of the set is mediocre or skippable. It has literally three good powers and one of those (Rage) has taken a big hit with recent +Dam buffing powers added to the game making stacking it rather pointless.
I'd be so bold to say Super Strength fails as a set:
It doesn't let you pick up, throw or utilize heavy things or demonstrate in any meaningful way that you are, you know, super strong.
It's performance is propped up by three good powers and the rest of the set is forgettable and also has what is generally thought of as the least useful power in the game, Hand Clap. The set is made up of mostly recycled animations, most being over eight years old at this point. Two of the set's powers needlessly force you do be on the ground, restricting you from using Fly or Hover in combat (Castle confirmed this was not for any balance reasons, just because it was easier to not fix than to do anything about and it should be noted that no melee attacks sets added since SS have had such a silly restriction).
SS is a poorly executed, outdated power set that gets by only on Rage+Foot Stomp and being iconic. And it's only iconic if you don't look at other superhero games that do super strength more justice; at this point that's pretty much all of them that feature it, including the two other competing super hero MMOs.
Yes, even Cel-shading Online's Might powerset puts our SS to shame.

I would like to see more chest details that are completed with a back detail. Valkyrie, Enforcer, Imperial Defense, Clock Work, and Vanguard all come to mind. They seem incomplete because the character's back is empty unless you place a cape or one of the new back details is placed there. Sadly we are still lite on back details at this point.
Where in comparison the Roman, Samurai, and Celestial seem more complete because they cover the back also. They make better looking upper body armor.
The Imperial Defense armor is the most frustrating because we see the complete version of that in the game all the time. The trainer in First Ward is wearing the complete version of it. I would like to see that version ported to the players. -
-
I think they should just give 6 slots instead of 3 at lvl 50. It would also add some up to hitting 50.
-
I would not mind having more reason to be on the streets. Right now though instance missions are just more efficient.
I wish they had the tech to allow GMs to do some destruction to the city when they appear. That and increase the rewards for defeating them. Not a merit or xp increase, but an inf increase. Because stopping something that is actively causing property damage, and stepping on people is going to make a hero pretty famous.
Accept that inf = popularity, or call it cash. I really wish they had just called it cash. -
I don't even care about the whole shabang. I just want different FX for hasten, and an option for minimal FX. Really, I think if they would just make Hasten and Super Speed less annoying, they would hear less about this.
For hasten I would like to see
Traditional fire hands
Electrical hands
A blur effect.
No FX.
Same for super speed.
One day maybe. This year I hope. I really want something to happen this year that will make me want to buy another year sub in Jan. So far that thing has not happened. I don't even know what that thing is, but I am sure I will know it when I finely do see it. -
Quote:I agree with this post. I have 2 dogs an Alaskan Mau and a Siberian Husky. Both are beautiful and cute, till a stranger comes near a member for the pack, our children in particular. Then the cute gets put on a shelf, and the clear ability and intent to do damage comes out. Sibs are about as close to wolf as you can get in a domestic brees, in fact mine looks a lot like the head from the animal pack.Story time!
I have some friends that had a pet wolf. It was half red wolf, half European wolf (a small "oops" at a breeder caused this). He was big, he was fluffy, he was cute. 130 pounds of gold and cream colored fluff, he looked more like a plush toy than some fierce predator. Utterly adorable.
I was sitting with him in their yard one day when some kids walked past. He was, as usual, overjoyed to see them and entirely too cute and cuddly for words. A bit after they left, some guy I didn't know walked past.
All of a sudden, I found I had my arm around 130 pounds of fang and muscle as he bared his teeth and snarled at this guy. I'd been leaning against him, and suddenly realized that he could easily rip my face off. The change was shocking, it unnerves me to this day. I stayed with him, though, and after the guy had left he finally calmed back down like nothing had ever happened. The beast was gone, and he was the giant ball of fluff once more.
The lesson? The wolf head looks 'cute' because it's in a somewhat neutral expression. The mouth is slightly open, the ears are forward, hackles are down. I think the eyes even look up a little, instead of straight ahead. If they made another that is JUST as realistic, but in a more aggressive pose, nobody would really think it's 'cute'.
Cute can change to horror real fast with animals. -
Quote:Funny thing is that the Praetorian Police have something that would work great for this. But that is thier thing, so I doubt we ever get it.You know that cyborg HUD thing that comes up your face when in combat ?
Maybe making it a full body would look awesome, having displays all at the arms/legs/torso as a second layer of armor and stuff.
Like in this other game. -
Quote:Fair enough in that statement. It was a bit of a shock to see Black Scorpion added to the list that already had Noble Savage on it though. What we have now isn't maintenance mode.
It's a bit more of a changing of the guard.
If they weren't replacing the people moving on to other things it would be maintenance mode.
I know it is not the same thing as what cryptic did, but as you put it before we had developed relationships with some those who have now moved to the other project. It is also hard to assume that their replacements are going to do as well as they did, or have as large a presence in the community.
An example would be BABs no longer being here. He was a big part of the community as a red name. Who is the current lead animator? That is kind of what I mean. -
Quote:Do you know why us long time vets are concerned about it? Because CoH has been put in maintenance mode before. It was left with a 15 person crew when Cryptic decided it was going to put "other coals in the fire" and we have legitimate fear of that happening again.Dark Watcher is the only one that jumps out at me.
There's a few others you all have never had forums interaction with. Take into account that people have also been replaced with new hires as well. Generally speaking, I don't think it's appropriate to make a big deal out of people shifting around in the studio. COH still has a strong, dedicated development team and the fact that Paragon has other coals in the fire is a pretty exciting prospect. I know that I'm especially excited as the prospect of building a new Community from the ground up is a challenge I'm looking forward to (I'm not going anywhere, I'm in charge of all of Paragon's Communities )
Many of the people who have opted to shift to another project have put in many years on COH. While that's definitely admirable, from a professional and creative standpoint, I don't think anyone can begrudge them wanting a change of pace.
As we see those leave that we have come to respect, and who we know did great things for the game, I feel we are valid in our concerns over who is leaving. -
Quote:Meh.
We've seen thread after thread after thread where we all repeat the same thing. We get tossed scraps and bits, just enough to appease us for a few days.
I give up. They aren't interested in what we really want. They are interested to see if any of us request something they want...
That they'll make. If it's *really* cool and wanted (like the Sybil skirts) they are locked behind NPCs with the same tired excuses (not built on the player model, server/client issues, animation issues).
So, whatever. They'll make what they will and hope we'll buy it while we continue to beg for:
Better masks
Male/Huge sashes
Waist capes for all
Sybil skirts/tops
Longer skirts/OLD style CoT robes
Quivers and scabbards and holsters
Meh.
I think you are in the same place that I am. Which is a place of burnout and dissatisfaction. As I said in another post, costume wise there is not much that I know about that excites me.
I am not a fan of Retro Sci-Fi, and it really not something I would have voted for. I think the Bubble Helmet is pretty cool, but what can be used with it is really limited. The only thing from that pack I find cool is the rocket packs, which I plan to use as on every character I have which is of Natural origin and that I want to fly.
The Mecha set is flat out amazing though. The only issue I have with it is that yet again they have taken some of the best parts (the Helmet Parts) and made them exclusive to one selection (full helmets) which means what can be combined with them is REALLY limited. I and others have requested repeatedly that those options be shared with half helmets, but no one has answered us.
Sorry Arbiter Fab, but I felt that there were enough options in the game that would cover PA already. It is one of my favorite themes in moves and books, but like I said, I think we have it already.
Cyber Punk actually looks cool, and I am excited to see more of it. I really hope it is on the marketing schedule for more reveals soon. It has a lot of potential depending on the artist. The only issue I have with it is my fear of exclusive locations again. I really want to use Robes and Jackets with the current cyborg arms. I hope they find a way to let me do that with the cyborg pack.
Space pirates. I am not a big pirate fan, my main hope for this set is that it has sashes for males in it. That alone would have me buying a ton of Super booster 2. But I will do that any way, as I love the booster packs in general.
There are some great requests in this thread, but because of my current level of burnout I fear we may never see them. Having them acknowledged would be cool though.
Costumes and Power sets are the things that have revitalized this game for me over and over. I took a long break when issue 14 was released, it was issue 16 that really stoked my fire for this game again. I hope Dink pokes in again soon to let us know what she likes that we have suggested. -
Quote:Wiat! BS was moved to the new project also?I am not a Brony.
I post meme's of MLP that I find amusing, and have relented to allowing my 5 year old sons to watching the show on Netflix, however that's the extent of it.
Black Scorpion is about as close as it comes, however he's working on another project now. -
I am not so sure, but only because it would then be harder to decide what powers to skip.
-
Quote:No as it is its own set. Just like the plan is when the next set of ATIOs are released they currently plan for us to be able to use them with the current ATIOs.If any of that attuned set goes in then doesn't that mean the kheldian grace set can't be used?
Also, yeah, with perma-LF I didn't really need to slot -KB. I played it on beta an hour or so over the weekend, and yesterday. It works out fine, even if I forget to hit hasten it fires on time. With Hasten it overlaps a bit. I did all of my testing in DA. -
Quote:So you can be utterly wrong in everything you've said so far in this thread? Gotcha.
But I already do educate by the demonstration of proper KB use. I don't even need a wall, hover or hoping around to show that. But as I said before, that doesn't stop prissy whiny gits from getting their panties in a minor twist. This new enhancement just puts fuel on that fire. And how long is it going to take for someone to start suggesting more of these types of enhancements to make that other 'it's unique' argument eventually invalid?
Few pages backs, I already suggested more of them.
I am sure some jerk is going to suggest it or offer it. It is just one more tool for people to use while complaining...so. Those people were already complaining and being jerks about KB. I was excited for my own PERSONAL use of this IO. Because as I primarily play melee toons, I hate chasing my own mobs all over the map.
There is no way on earth I am offering to give something like this away, unless it is to help a friend who is looking for one. If some one does offer you one, take it. Then promptly mail it to me.
