Not that I mind personally, but there is some things toward the bottom of that page that are most definately NSFW (i.e. boobies). Might want to mention that.

A physical paper dictionary.... sure digital is more efficient, as is a digital encyclopedia, but paper dictionary and encyclopedias allow you this wonderful thing where you can learn something new randomly where as with digital versions they never include "random" articles or words in their programming so unless you know the word or subject you aren't going to ever know about something... no link, no info. It's a lose that kinda sucks.
Michael Crichton commented on this very thing quite some time ago. He called the internet an evolutionary dead end for mankind. Since there is so much knowledge available on demand, there is less and less actual new information being discovered in essence. It kind of makes sense if you consider how much is discovered by accident while looking for something else entirely. -

Watching that scene I just kept thinking, "How do his pants keep getting bigger?"
Not that I really want to see little Hulk swinging in the breeze, but for some reason that has always bothered me both on film and in the comics. -
Yeah, i think its from like 1986 or something. Way old.

I thought the mission statement for the Ultimate line was that everything that happened was permanent and would never need to be rebooted.

Quote:None of those G&G titles will be an easy tonal fit into DC's operatic/mythic cast, but that kind of problem isn't stopping the editors from reincorporating/retconning the Vertigo-titled characters into the DCU either. (Moore's going to be predictably furious at their treatment of John Constantine.)
I hadn't realized this. Does this mean no more Vertigo? I thought that line was always held apart from the regular universe and as such wouldn't be subjected to this reboot. -
How do you plan to play this? Grav/Ice would probably be the lowest damage combination possible for Doms, so you won't be getting many solo kills with it. You might be able to provide some disruption for a team with Wormhole and lolcage, but that's about it really.
I'm thinking you were looking at the slows and thinking how awesome they would be, but they really aren't that good anymore. Slows are almost worthless now, particularly in zone where your target can just run away at full speed while they wait for their attacks to recharge. -

Quote:So DC now has Edna Mole working for them. How would all of them have the same style outfits. Sorry GL i know your costume is a ring construct but your Justice League and we have a dress-code.
All the costumes were graciously donated by WayneTech Enterprises. Notice Supes gadget belt?
Also, a little confused by the picture. The blond on the right has the hair of PG, but the costume looks more Black Canary. -

I can completely agree with all of those, but I have never really had faith in Hollyweird to get a comic character right. I find it better that way as I am rarely disappointed and am pleasantly surprised on those rare occasions when they actually do get it right.

Has there been any team created or recreated in the last 10 years that didn't have Wolverine on it?

A 3 step approach is needed.
1) Quit fiteklubbing
2) Get a team
3) LOLbarrier -

Sure they brought a few good elements out and are generally good at one shot story arcs with directives, but generally it seems the more free reign you give these guys the worse they are....
I have found this to be generally true of most writers. The more freedom they get from editorial control, the worse the writing gets over time.
Writers are like kids. Give them too much freedom and they just break everything and demand more. We need look no further than the Ultimate U to see that. -

Comics don't hate marriages, egotistical writers hate marriages. They feel it is too restrictive to their writing to be a usefull character trait. One of the big Spiderman writers actually said that a few years ago and we saw where that went. Since editors suck up to writers, they usually get their way. -
On a side note, I'm willing to sell all my Sturdies for 1 mill each. Beter hurry though, they are going fast.

They probably figured they had nothing to lose. Even though they rank ahead of the independant publishers, they are far behind Marvel sales wise and falling even further as I understand it. They probably came to the conclusion that the upcoming movie versions are going to be different from the established comics continuity. Since more people watch movies than read comics, I imagine they are going to try to match up the comic versions with the upcoming movie and TV versions of the characters in an attempt to grab new readers

Drone 2: That wasnt a re-enactment. Thats how theater majors fight. That Prima Donna tried to take the last donut.
As a Theater Major, I find this highly offensive, even if it is true. -
Quote:On Stranger Tides is much better than Dead Man's Chest and At World's End... just saying.
Hope everyone stuck around for the scene after the credits.
I barely made to the credits. I wasn't gonna stick around any longer than that. Please tell me it didn't set up yet another sequel in this long played out series. -
Yep. The Ultimate Universe is a perfect of example of the need for strong editorial control. Writers are like kids. Give them a sandbox and a bunch of toys, they will inevitable just break everything.

DC Comics will only publish two comic books on August 31st: the final issue of this summers comic book mini-series FLASHPOINT and the first issue of JUSTICE LEAGUE by Johns and Lee, two of the most distinguished and popular contemporary comic book creators, who will be collaborating for the first time. Together they will offer a contemporary take on the origin of the comic book industrys premier superhero team.
As a long time reader and fan of all things Justice League, this makes me very nervous. It sounds like they are going to go Marvels Ultimate route, without actually creating a separate universe for it. I can't say I would be at all happy with a reboot of the entire DCU history. -
Quote:Agreed. Lucy Lawless as Xena looked athletic without being beefy. She also was extremely feminine and could act. Milla Jovovich is another great example. It is possible to strike the right compromise between feminine and strong, they just have to look for it. The problem with this show was that they clearly didn't understand the character, and that was just reinforced by all the other changes they made to the origin and backstory.Don't confuse "athletic type" with "strong looking". No, Linda Carter was not muscular, but she certainly had a strong, confident look in her eyes - along with a great body. You either have it or you don't.
Sooooooo glad this didn't get off the ground.
