While I understand your sentiment, that precludes two things:

    - Everyone has wishes and hopes and dreams...some are personal, some are shared. Why do you hate rainbows and unicorns? WHY DO YOU HATE FREEDOM WARDEN_DE_DIOS?

    - To change it implies that we never intend on changing/improving it's functionality.

While we are aware that some commercial sites (such as Amazon) have a specific implementation of "Wish Lists", ours does is different, with room for change.

Perhaps I should have said, I've experienced from the dev side .

    IOW, waaaaaaayy off the mark.
  6. Anecdotaly speaking...

I've experienced a situation where a development team tried through various methods to encourage players to play one faction vs another faction, for the purpose of balance. Now in the situation I've experienced, it was key to the way the game worked, crucial in fact, on a level that does not apply to CoH.

What was said about players playing what players want to play usually rings true. Inflated incentive can only do so much to entice people to do something they would otherwise not do.

Of course we will always continue to develop compelling content for both factions to play in addition to our continued development of co-op content. We do anticipate that many of the new players will be very interested in the experience of playing a nefarious villain rather than a sappy do-gooder .
  7. It's a personal wishlist, not something viewable by others.

Like I said previously, we're aware that gifting is a desired feature.

    Thanks!

This is not the case. Pool Tier 3 powers outside of travel powers will still be restricted as they are now. Only travel powers will benefit from this change.
  9. "Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"

Well, it's good to know that we're missed .

Today's lack of information was caused by two things

    1. We had a power outage this morning at Paragon. It took awhile for all of the working systems to come online, like intarwebz, but we're back up and running now.

    2. On a less world impacting note, I am sadly at home sick, having finally succumb to the Con Plague. This means that if I were to host Ustream, it would be from my bed, me hacking and coughing, unshaven and unshowered, with my kids jumping on my head and pointing at the camera going "I WANT TO SAY HI TO EVERYONE!".

Granted, this would be more entertaining than one of my tangents, however my energy level just wouldn't be there...

Our apologies for how things played out this morning, but all things should be fully operational moving forward. I'll see you guys on Ustream tomorrow morning at 10:30 Pacific/6:30 BST come hell or high water.

    1. This is the tale...of Captain Jack Sparrow...

    2. If you go premium and do not purchase the arc as a Premium Player you will lose access to the Sig Story Arc missions. Access to Sig Story arcs is dependent on either being VIP or Having purchased a license.

Especially with the new options opened up with the next round of Power Proliferation! I like other ATs too, but Scrapper characters get the priority on space!
Believe it or not, characters are a rather huge chunk of data to be stored. Remember you have to take into account all of the character data (badges, power, alternate builds, etc, etc, etc) for each and every character.

The amount of lines of data that just the badges constitute on some characters is rather staggering.

We'll be cracking it wide open. Our current plan is for players to be able to purchase an unlimited number of AE Story slots via the Paragon Market.

Per Month (as we'll be releasing a new "chapter" each month), with the huge caveat that they're included at no additional cost for VIP's. Account wide.

You had a 50/50 chance it would be something about the Community or a meme quoting .jpg...
  15. I may be biased, on a professional level, but...

Community. The CoH Community is outstanding. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and warm are a few of the words I regularly use when describing our Community to people who are new to the game. Rarely can you point to the Community of an MMO as a selling point, however in the case of CoH, it really is.

Sometimes, when I'm on my personal account, I forget that the folks I chat with on a daily basis here on the forums don't know who I am in global channels. The people you play with in CoH put you that much at ease .

  17. Top ten reasons the CoH Community loves Steelclaw:

    10. Public Safety Announcements

    9. Our underrepresented OCD player community appreciates the need to put everything in lists.

    8. Beastyle uses Steelclaw lists as RP material while hanging upside down in various Pocket D instances.

    7. Altoholics used to feel bad about playing so many characters...and then they heard about "The Tournament".

    6. Two words: Nemesis Plot.

    5. Two more words: GOLD PLATED.

    4. Lists are hard yo! (Seriously...it took the entire OCR team 30 minutes to come up with this one!)

    3. Steelclaw: Providing the TLDR version of the forums since 2007!

    2. If you ever have a question about Excel Spreadsheets...

    1. Everyone needs something to read while waiting for the bus.

    CoH Noob...

Welcome to the City of Heroes Community!

The advice that I'll give is to never be afraid to ask questions, whether here on the forums or in game. The Community is, by and large, extremely helpful and a repository of useful information.

We only get distracted into speaking in tangents roughly 50% of the ti...OH SHINY!

  19. They eat a lot more Wheaties in Praetoria.

(in reality, if you're fighting a AV, you kinda need them to be a bit taller than everyone else so as to "stand above" the crowd)

But right now my head is banging on the ceiling. I am having to delete level 40+ characters every time I want to make something new.

    1. We're not planning on "gifting" functionality at launch. There's about a million Customer Service related nightmares with this functionality, and while we definitely recognize it as an oft requested feature, it will not be available.

    2. As Positron said...we really like this idea.
  21. For those asking about Reward Tokens and multimonth subscriptions: As of now, the current plan is for you to receive all of your TOKENS up front however your PARAGON POINTS will be doled out each month on your billing cycle.

Should this change we'll let you know.
  22. Any "non-free" or premium powerset, including ones that are free for VIP's (such as Time Manipulation), will be purchasable by *anyone* in the store.

Anyone meaning anyone. Regardless of Tier level in the Paragon Rewards Shrubbery, free or Premium.
