  1. Burkholder is a non-effect on your times, but Nosferatu produces a rain of inspirations. Sometimes you'll have Burky tossing everyone out of your AOEs, and that can be a pain. I basically only ever pick him up if he's on the way, and even then I do that only because he's guarded by a boss.

    Build Up Proc

Unfortunately, while you'd normally be right, Heraclea, you're not. Because Soul Drain has a base-line effect, it'll proc with 0 targets in the area... but it'll only ever try to proc once every activation.

  5. This is a linguistic difference. Heraclea believes that 'doesn't work the way I want it to' is a bug. It's much closer to 'doesn't work the way it was designed to work.' Simply put, it's one of the quirks of Heraclea's manner of speaking, which just happens to waste the time of people whose job it is to check bug reports.

Yes, making powersets is roughly tantamount to picking teams for dodgeball.

It's not embarassing if nobody hardly ever looks.

It's not quite as linear as that; as I understood it, the aoe taunt portion is scaled based on either the damage of the power or the powers' recharge, not sure which. Either way, claws being a steady stream of DPS attacks might mean that gauntlet is 'smaller' than normal. I understand Energy Transfer's fast recharge time means that it has a ridiculously small taunt area (like, Scorch-sized).

The only change I can imagine being useful is to adjust some of the attacks to be slower-recharging, heavier hitters, to better trigger Gauntlet. At least, if I understand gauntlet correctly.
  14. You may like the quality higher on the villainside, but there's more of all of the above.
  15. It's bad, but it's an equal factor in the game.

If you want to do lots of different TFs, go heroside.

If you want to do lots of story arcs, go heroside.

If you want to fight lots of different giant monsters, go heroside.

If you want to travel through lots of different zones, go heroside.

If you want cooperative content that still feels appropriate for your character, go heroside.

If you want to PVP, go heroside.

    Hrm.

You know, thinking of it like that, the idea of using IOs as being unfairly biased towards one side isn't actually that 'wrong.'
  16. My normal play behaviour is to level a character up to a point where I feel the build is flexible enough and open enough to IO it out with a meaningful number of enhancement values. I then IO it out, by placing bids, waiting, and while I wait, sculpting and crafting other characters.

I spend a lot of time waiting on my villains. So much so that I've earned a huge number of levels on various heroes waiting for villains to fill out, then IO'd those heroes out, then started over again.

The market and IOs are two things that I enjoy about this game, and since I solo a lot, solidly IO'd builds are another part of what I enjoy. I therefore find it exasperating that the half of the game that I know I should support more (because the problem won't fix itself) is actively pushing me away.

As long as these are the hard hitters that is.
I think you'll find that lots and lots of people don't. It's a very touchy subject.

Bonus, it gives you a fairly significant Defuriance bonus.

    Fire/Energy

The good; you have a damage aura to compensate for poor aoe; you have some amazing soft control in your secondary, you have probably the best level 4 power in the game, and you get some of the best heavy-hitting powers for dominators that exist. Your single-target mez casts really quickly.

The bad; it's still fire control. If you like hard control or a feeling of safety, fire isn't really bringing it. It brings damage, which is great!~ But it's not going to bring you the kind of lockdown options that other sets like mind or ice give you. Also, the animations in the melee powers are slow. If you don't like knockback, you will really resent this combo over time.

It's a good combo, both parts are powerful. Just go in knowing what you're getting.

No grave damage would be done to game mechanics.
Aside from intentionally desireable high-end end-game goals being made easier and easier to achieve, thereby reducing their desireability.

LOTGs and Miracles being expensive is a feature, not a bug.

Personally, I'm fine with the 10 enhancements rule, it's a nice compromise.

If you think the current respec interface is fine then no there isn't room, get out .
About the worst thing about the interface is the way it requires you to do every step in a queue. I don't mind the ten limit, I think it's very reasonable, and I actually understand (and accept) the idea tha ten is more than the developers would prefer. I don't like the idea of IOs as pure commodity, and I conceptually don't mind them being hard to shift around. I definitely think that respeccing multiple times to get multiple sets of IOs off a character should be aberrant, not normal behaviour.

I wouldn't mind a kind of 'oops' respec system, where I could respec a character into a number of powers, SO them out, take that for a spin and decide if I wanted to pursue further; I wouldn't mind being able to swap a power or slots fairly quickly while I'm respeccing, instead of having to undo all slots, undo all subsequent powers, pick the power, then manually go back to where I was. That's annoying.

But the core principle? Ten enhancements as an act of grace from the devs? Absolutely okay with it and would actually prefer for it to stay.
  23. There's no place in this discussion for people who think the current system is fine, is there?
  24. If you need to be overpowered to solo, you're not very good at soloing.
