  1. Anyone seen those regenerating fleshes lately? talk about prices being messed with...
  2. Whats about buying X at a point where you buy all of X's stock, and re-listing it, without alteration, at the price pount far enough behind what buyers will pay, to ensure rapid turnover?

    basically buying high, selling low.
  3. People do it. Is it worth it? not really, not in a time vs money vs effort equation.
  4. Well I've finished putting all my frames onto the movie. Its about 4 inches in diameter, and will probably run a little over 30 seconds. I'll be running it through the projector sunday, and attempting to record it again. If i don't do it this sunday, i'll be trying to set it up again another time.

I'll post the updated video once its finished. Thank you everyone for your support and thoughts

Yea the only constant I maintained while putting the frames together was to align up the sound track. I'm guessing about 1/3 of the way through, i messed up a few frames, as you can see the 'blue tracks' which are the visuals that shows the 'sound track' when its being shown on the screen. I've since fixed that, so now everything runs the same.

Having some frames upside-down was just a side affect of aligning up the sound track. Each frame is only about a inch tall, and 35mm across (hense the name, 35mm film) so working with something thats only an inch tall made it very difficult to align up each picture. It was much easier to just align the sound tracks together, and see how things worked out.

What your watching in that video is the taped together 'frames' of every single movie, preview, and commercial I've had to cut and put onto actual movies I've played at my theater since march.

Each 'frame' is 1/30th of a second, thus the 30 frames per second 'standard' that most movies play at. I have about 5 more seconds to add onto it, we recorded a 'dry run' which is what that video is, just to make sure the film would actually play through the projectors. It worked, but I had to do some wonky things with the projector system to make it work correctly. Once I finish it I'll probably repost the entire video (which by that time, will be closer to 30 seconds in length)

Its something my friend has always talked about, and something I wanted to do in his honor, and I'm glad you all have enjoyed it as much as he would've.
  7. Hey guys,

Last March, I lost a very dear friend of mine to his own actions. He was a coworker with me at the local theater, and always listened and was very interested in CoH just never had the time, nor money to actually subscribe.

For those that don't know, 35mm film theaters are becoming a very rare site, and I happen to work at the last one in town. When a movie is built, you have to cut out a frame of the reels, and you have multiple frames left over once you finish building an entire movie. Well, my late friend always wanted to splice (tape) together all those frames, and make a movie of sorts from all those frames. Well since he passed away i've been saving frames and putting them together, and this is the end result.

Let me know what you think, and what you see, as I notice I see something different every time I watch it. I just wanted to share. Hope you guys enjoy it

Thats a little strange, as i can hold aggro on Giant monsters and AVs 100% of the time, and i use basically only provoke, and my traps. Things is, the 'traps' are their own entity, so it doesn't multiply my attacks by any set amount.

I solo the Ghost of Scrapyard daily on liberty, and can hold aggro off not just my pets, by just about any non tanker/brute that joins in.

Might want to think on this one.

Yes, thats exactly what i want you to do. and do it for a week, and then check back a week after your done flipping, and see if your raised prices actually stay raised. I'm willing to bet they dont.
  10. Provoke, plus distractions. granted, i use a bot/traps, and the acid mortar and poison trap hold pretty decent aggro on their own, don't know what to tell ya about /pain.

Grant invis will lower their thread mod, but keep in mind, mastermind pets already have a higher threat mod then you do, so i'm not sure grant invis will really benefit you much, as your pets will just be on equal ground with you, instead of higher. Couldn't hurt any to test it out though, plus the added defense from grant invis will help keep yours mercs alive.
  11. Then why don't you try it. Or are you afraid that you'll prove yourself wrong?
  12. While i do agree that most defenders should also blast, I hardly ever do on my emp/psi. the reason being is that i'm always buffing, or topping off green bars. I have enough recharge on her that atlest one of her buffs are always up, and if i blast i miss out on a buff cycle, and to me, having the blaster fortituded up is more important then my low damage mental blast hitting something. Now, if i'm on a small team, and my buff cycle is short, then i blast as much as possible, keeping an eye on the buffs active, in order to keep those up, as those are my primary goal.

As long as the defender in question in contributing to the team efforts and isnt just rocking the PBAOE healing aura, i see very little issue with one that doesn't choice to blast. Now if theres nothing else to do, and they still refuse for one reason or another, then i start to question, but usually the team is move so quickly that the added damage of a defender isn't going to add much more, and their secondary is much more effective as a force multiplier.
  13. Gonna miss web soup and campus PD. Campus PD was filming in my city for awhile, it was interesting to see locals on TV.

I said that people can't walk up to the market, put in any price they want and instantly receive the item they want for the price they want instantly. This is extremely unfair to the casual gamer who doesn't play very much and therefore has to stand at the market waiting for his order to fill. This could take minutes or it could take hours. You just don't know. So this person who wanted to log in for their one hour a night places a bid on a piece of salvage he needs for the enhancement he needs and then has to stand there until he gets extremely lucky and his bid fills.

Waiting for items to make enhancements is just ridiculous. Frankly, I genuinely wish NCSoft would do something about it. In no other MMO anywhere, ever, do you ever have to wait for item upgrades - ever! You log in, you pick what you want and *boom* its transferred to your inventory immediately. There's none of this "wait 5 minutes" BS that we have in this game. Plus... I think its one of the "Marketeering Crew" that has a sig that reads something like "if you didn't leave your bid up for 24 hours you didn't try to buy something"

WTF?! I don't have time to stand here and wait 24 hours to "maybe" get something. I mean my time is extremely valuable to me and I shouldn't be forced to wait at all... much less 24 hours?!! If I want to buy a common salvage for what it should cost which really should be at most 4 times what the vendors will pay for it - I mean its 400% mark up from the vendors, right!?! - and I throw up my bid of 1,000 on Alchem Silv it should fill immediately!

But nooooooo! The flippers are in there buying all of the low priced salvage that I want - getting it for 1 or 2 inf and then relisting it all for 100k or more! This just screws the casual gamer like me right where it hurts, cause now I HAVE to spend 100k just to get this piece of salvage I need just for this one enhancement I need! I mean I bought the recipe for 10 million just like the last 5 people - why bother sticking it to me for the salvage too?! Its petty and it makes people quit the game!

Even then, you see it every day - you saw this item yesterday that was selling for like 10k and *boom* today its over 50k! That's definitely a flipper doing some hard core price manipulation! How can the casual player even hope to get a fair deal when the flipper is buying all of the salvage and then forcing me to pay the price he wants to charge me?

Oh, and when I want to sell something, I list it for just a bit over what the rest are selling for - like if something is selling for 100k, I list mine for 125k so the flippers don't get it. But then flippers control all the rest of the salvage and mine never sells! It just sits there month after month doing nothing!

And then when it finally does sell, I know that the flipper has left that market and moved on to something else. So now prices should drop - but they don't cause as soon as they do, some other flipper comes along and sees this and so they jump in and buy up all of the supply and destroy it. Then prices go through the roof and that flipper who came in makes a bundle!

    Its just not fair!!!!
As entertaining as that read is Misaligned, i do get it. I'm just not sure the 'flippers are evil yo' players get the opposite effect.

If i sell my commons for 300, (merely 50 above vendor prices), and a casual player isn't on at the exact time i am to purchase my common salvage, then they really should learn patience.

What you did was reverse flipping. You purchases out all the high hanging fruit, and relisted it as low hanging fruit, thus allowed the casual gamer to purchase your items at a much lower price then you paid.

Thing is, you made money off the deal, granted a few million in a weeks time is really not much of a profit, but you still made it. Now, this could be because the last five atlest read 1,000 or higher and not 100 or lower, but regardless, anyone who reads these forums know the last five is a VERY misleading way to purchase items, and if your not bid creeping, or leaving bids in for atlest 24 hours, your really doing it wrong.

And I'm of the opinion, that if you want to do it wrong, you don't have the right to complain about it. Because your doing it wrong.

Heres something you can do to prove, or disprove that flippers ruin the market.

    Step 1:
Pick 5 common salvage in any given level range and try flipping yourself. Buy low, sell high. Stop after 7 days. Record the before price, record the price you bought at, record the price you sold at, record how many transactions you completed and record the price after a weeks time of you not messing with it. See exactly how much of an impact your efforts had.

    Step 2:
Pick those same 5 common salvage at before. This time, do reverse flipping. Buy high, sell low. Stop after 7 days. Record the before price (should make the same price you had after your week of stopping) record the price you purchased the salvage at, record the price you sold at, record how many transactions you completed and record the price after a week of you not messing with it. See exactly how much of an impact your efforts had.

I'm pretty sure that will show you that you had next to 0 impact on actual prices, and things will return to the 'before' price much quicker then the 'after' price.
  15. So let me get this straight, as i've been trying to follow this thread off and on since i first saw it, and been trying to understand the 'flipping is bad yo' mindset.

I take salvage and recipes off the market and i craft into enhancements, so its a form of flipping, i also buy at the same prices, and sell at the same prices. I never adjust my bids to take advantage of 'spikes' nor do i overstock my salvage/recipes to take advantage of lower prices at the time.

I mostly do my marketing while i'm working IRL, and i check my market characters on average twice daily.

I've made a little over 5 billion (that i've counted) just doing the above. I stricting use 4 enhancements, 2 of which are commons, and only require the salvage, due to memorization badges. I do this over 2 characters to maximize working market slots.

More often then not i've bidding against atlest myself, yet i still make a massive profit.

As my prices do not change, and what i'm buying the items at do not change, yet the prices of items are constantly changing (both up and down) could the people saying 'flipping is bad yo' please explain how i'm able to make such a huge profit, while not even logged into the game? How am i able to constantly buy my common salvage for 10inf a piece (and i buy about 200 salvage a day to craft) and constantly buy my uncommon salvage for 10k a piece (much higher then what i could buy it at, but some of the salvage just doesn't move very fast at lower price ranges) and then turn around and sell the crafted enhancement for millions of inf, if flippers, like myself are ruining the market and doing everything in their power to raise prices?

Plus didn't we already go over this with nethergoat buying up all the alchemical silvers at 1mil+ prices, yet misaligned was still able to buy some for 100inf? So obviously flippers, even the ones who just screw with prices, don't affect those who know the value of patience. Patience is a virtue, and it will make you rich in the markets. If your impatient, stop complaining about prices, cuz things really aren't as expensive as you make them out to be.
  16. This is my claw/elec. i ignored L/S def, aimed for a little pure melee, and went for higher recharge. If the going gets tough i'll have good resistances plus near perma energize to fall back on.

  17. The thing is, once you start mass producing 'Valuable' enhancements with A-merits, the supply is going to sky rocket, and your left with once profitable items, now going for much less then before, due to higher supply.

Granted, if you rotate a couple of 'high demand' items, your bound to keep up profits, but even then, don't flood too much into the market with a 'get rich quick' scheme, cuz more often then now, they fall apart.
  18. Arbegla

    Why A Blaster?

Eh, I think keeping their hitpoints the same, but allowing another tier of attacks to be used while mez'ed would go along way to helping the blaster. allow up to the tier 3 attacks in the primary, and tier 2 in the secondary. This will give some blasters an AoE to used while mez'ed, and a hard hitting melee attack.

Granted, i think blasters are fine the way they are now, but if your gonna do something, to them, do the above.
  19. I'm gonna basically repost what i posted in the last 'which AT to try first' thread.

If you want to play the game, play a scrapper or brute.

If you want to [learn the game, play a blaster.

Nothing will force you to learn how to avoid mez'ers, which mobs to take out first, and how to use 'kiting' and range to your advantage like a blaster would.

Scrappers are basically just run and punch/stab/kick/catch on fire/etc, and the same with brutes. especially once you get your mez protection toggle.
  20. Shield is far more aggressive then stone, willpower, or invuln, due in part to the ability to easily softcap, high DDR, and shield charge. AAO + shield charge allows shield to plow through things much quicker then just about any other secondary.

/elec has lightning field which does -3% end every 2 seconds, and power sink, which does -40% end every 60 seconds.. so you can effectively drain entire groups of mobs, and we all know a mob with no end isnt really doing anything to you.

fire/elec would rock as a combo. you have high damage potential due to BU + lightning field. you have high damage due to fire melee, and you have more then enough mitigation due to end drain. Plus energy can be perma'ed with enough recharge (from slotting and IOs) so you can walk around with +200% regen on top of anything else you might have (health, which will be inherent soon, plus any set bonuses) stacked with your already high resistance (yes, 26.25% isnt too high, but thats base, slotted you hitting at about 40%, which is nothing to disregard)
  21. Yeppers, just got the accolade, and i got the message 'You can access the Witches' Hat costume piece at the tailor.' on my mastermind needless to say, i was excited.
  22. Might wanna add that the Meticulous badge unlocks the witches hat costume piece if you havent already unlocked it (thus villains can get it now too!)
  23. One thing i would like to see added is the ability to turn on or off 'suppressable' powers in PvE. like stealth, hide, etc. That way you can see your suppressed defense values, as well as the non suppressed values, and better judge what you'll have in actual combat.
  24. And to think, i had this awesome concept build for an energy/energy/energy brute, even made a build and everything

Fun sets to work for certain! (with tastey and rather risk free profits)
yeah, the clues did kinda give away the sets especially with the limit put on salvage.

Thats why the winner would get my profits, as it would require bid creeping in order to accurately hit where my listing is at, but i figure a weeks worth of profits would counter act the bid creeping, especially when said people could just relist the things they purchases for some decent profit.
