There are 5 new archetypes in CoV.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not true. There's four. I asked in person. -

Still confused about one point: if (for example) you've got a three person team, each person on the team is 400' away from each other person, and person X defeats a bad guy -- does person X get "solo XP" or XP for being on a 3 person team?
[/ QUOTE ]
He'd get XP with the 3 person team multiplier...BUT that XP would still be divided appropriately between each teammate. The others, however, wouldn't receive their shares.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't this seem a tad unfair? Are we supposed to not want to team? -
I know there's probably some IP issues or something involved (isn't there always, see Marvel vs NCsoft) but can we get a link to the Hero Builder?
-

I love the VS system. Heck, I play every Wednesday night. But we're not looking to duplicate their gameplay or overal system.
We chose AEG because of their dynamite record with card games. I love L5R - and Doomtown is one of the all time greats. I felt most comfortable with the direction that they're taking. Rest assured, we're involved in the process and aren't about to just throw this over the proverbial fence.
The RPG and the CCG are NOT about trying to make $. Instead, I pushed for both of these products because I knew they'd be cool. Strange, hunh? I'm not just the designer of CoH, but I'm also a fan. And as a fan, I want to see those things. So heck, we've been working on these things for quite a while.
So, if you aren't familiar with AEG yet - check 'em out!
See you in Wizard World LA!

He tells the truth. At WonderCon he talked about the game like a gamer and not lead designer. I'm so envious, he gets to love what he does and it exists because of him. The perfect "catch 22"? -
[ QUOTE ]
First of all, it'll be a Unisystem game - but with tweaks to combat.
Secondly, I might be GMing games of it at the big cons (Gen Con, Origins, etc.) - so keep your eyes peeled.

wow, soo cool.... wow, I'm a nerd. -

So could anyone who's been paying attention to this this stuff tell me what the deal is with Blue King's then, if it's going to continue or its getting dropped?
Because for the first time I just saw something involving the Keldian/Nictus + Council and it was actually interesting what was happening, and it was in Blue King's comic. ...the Council needs a back story more like that in the Actual game here!

Horus is a Kheldian, what? -
[ QUOTE ]
Still here...been busy with visitors this week. Plus - we've got E3 around the corner and, of course, City of Villains (though I'm not saying anything other than "this year" for a time estimate).
And I've been working some on the Arena (playtesting) and even Issue 5 stuff. Oh - and whatever comes AFTER City of Villains. Wouldn't you like to know that?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ahh, come on Jack. Share a little, won't you? please! -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd like to think Striga as a whole set a new standard. We're going to try to use it as our goal in future zones and in City of Villains...
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm with 9783 on this one. Striga has been nothing but cool so far. -
This is very cool. Wonder if NCsoft will use this in any way. I know if I were them, I would. Are you a writer by trade?
Anyways, you know it's good when you've pulled Jeremy Gaffney (aka Gaffer) out of hiding. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think players will realize soon enough that it's not a bug. Word will spread, and most of it will probably be contained to in-game channels and players filling i nthe uninformed.
[/ QUOTE ]
However, the initial 75% of the population that doesn't check the boards will send falls /petitions and CSR will get swamp even more than they usually do when a new Issue goes live. -
[ QUOTE ]
Statesman, I understand that, as a developer, you want us doing the fun stuff. However, can you please explain how you're qualified to tell me what I consider "fun?"
Do you care about people bypassing the interesting content? Or just the part about gaining levels quickly? There is absolutely nothing you can ever do about the latter. It's built-in to the deepest part of the powergamer psyche. Rather than forcing them to do the "more interesting content," how about giving them a good enough reason to?
I'd bet dollars to donuts that you've noticed a trend regarding "unfun" missions and the reason why people do them. I'm just a nobody in the grand scheme of things, but, perhaps people are doing the wolf mission because the "more interesting content" isn't rewarding enough. Just a passing thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm gonna go with that feeling you get after finishing a game too quickly that makes you go "meh, it's ok - but I don't wanna play anymore". On the other hand, if it is hard to PL, then PL'ing is worth something and you wanna stay in it to share with your friend. That's from a Power Gamer's point of view.
Content is cool too. The Praetorian Arcs are totally worth the price of admission if you ask me. -
I remember:
Temp Invuln and Integration were Click Powers
The tram in KR didn't display on low-end nVida cards
The Hero Corp person in Skyway sold all the training ENH for every level
When you could skip the tutoral, then you couldn't, now you can
When hero names were limited to 15 characters
When SOs dropped more often than Trainings or DOs
When the only server was CoH_Development2004 (or something very similar) and you could only play for 6 hours twice a week
When the game was going to be Champions style character development
When Oni then MacAllen got kicked from the boards
When the boards were black on white
When the board moderators weren't paid
When the first pre-first E3 Cryptic was at trailer came out (still have it!)
When they said you could call body shots
Finally, I remember Aura Manning's introductory post! -

Statesman said several parts of the UI are under scrutiny and are in need of being improved. For exmample Issue #4 has point-n-click travel.
[/ QUOTE ]
Point and Click travel? Could you elaborate? Do you mean clicking on a place in front of you and your hero runs there?
Anything else about the UI in particular?
Thanks for all the info
[/ QUOTE ]
No I can't they didn't have it to test. I just know what Lord Recluse (Zeb) told me. Cool guy, Zeb. Anyhoo, he said it was for the 1% that couldn't handle WASD+mouse controls. So I assumed a'la Diablo 2 style, but seriously I don't know for sure. -

Mako is a really cool guy, had some great info on CoV ...
[/ QUOTE ]
I sincerely hope you've just forgotten to tell us this information and it's not one of those "off the record" things.
Otherwise I'll have to kill you and eat your brains, thus gaining your knowledge.
[/ QUOTE ]
I beleive I shared what I could:
* Villans get minions, deisng your own thugs kinda thing
* Dozens of new costume options
* How villians interact with in Paragon City is unsolved
* Villians have 4 AT's with unique powersets
* Newer (better?) zones for CoV
* Probably forgetting some... -
[ QUOTE ]
Just wanted to say "thanks!" for all those who spoke with Statesman or Lord Recluse "off the record" and actually respected it here on these boards. The fans on these forums are by far a cut above the norm.
I also had a great time meeting so many of you at WonderCon. It was great to see how excited people are about CoV!
See you at GenCon and Origins.

Hey Mako! Nice to see you posting here.
Mako is a really cool guy, had some great info on CoV and kept doing that "I can't really tell you about it... yet" thing. -

You can streatch the chest from narrow to wide. Shoulders narrow/wide. Arms narrow/wide. Hips narrow/wide. Legs short/tall. And women chest from small to Pamala Anderson
The face can be streatch from wide to narrow and also tall to short.
Each "slider" is seperate from each other.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the face (if I can still remember) you can adjust in the X, Y, or Z axis the:
over all face
the eyes
the nose
the chin
the cheeks
some others... -

For the love of god didn't anyone bring a camera??
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, actually I did - but discovered that it's rechargable battery stopped holding a charge too late. -

[ QUOTE ]
Though really, they need to nerf just Iron Vixen.
That costume could be quite distracting in combat.
[/ QUOTE ]
By nerf, do mean make it smaller? It can't get too much smaller than it is.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's now a Chest slider so you can go the Pam Anderson route if you'd like. -
[ QUOTE ]
Just highlighting this as statements like this have been known to cause fear, panic and flames on the boards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I did kind of regret posting that after I posted it.
The reference was directly to PvP and not PvE. -
[ QUOTE ]
Can anyone tell me if there are new armor options in the character creator? I'm desperate for some edgier powered armor looking stuff. The current medeval and robotic suits are just not cutting it
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't see any, but I wasn't look for it either. Sorry I can't be of more help here. -
[ QUOTE ]
_Pax_, please confirm: Japanese Schoolgirl outfits?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I could see how you could put the new femail Asian pieces together to create a school girl look. At least better than you can now. Most of the pieces were still unnamed, so there wasn't any peice called "Japanese School Girl Outfit" or anything like that. -

[ QUOTE ]
I was wondering if you (or anyone else who tried the new costume options) could tell me if a skirt that looks like this is going to be available in Issue 4.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats not a skirt, thats a towel :P
Actuallly its more like an extension of the blouse than anything else. Why don't you ever seen women who dress like that in real life?
[/ QUOTE ]
Tekken and Steert Fighter.
Only digital women and women paid to look like digital women wear clothes like that. -

Never said "nasty", "too powerful", "unbalanced". He did use those words when talking about other powers / powersets.
[/ QUOTE ]
Would it be possible for you to list the ones that Statesman considered unbalanced or is that something he doesn't want you to comment on?
[/ QUOTE ]
No. It's one of those things he said "and please don't share that with the general community." and I agreed.
I've been part of this community since about 18 months before beta. I'm not about to stab Jack in the back now. Sorry, hope you can understand.
