What really excites me about the Super Tailor is the idea of turning every costume slot into an entirely different character and concept under some generic name. My oldest toon is a DM/Regen whose character has refused to click for me for three years, but I've had a couple other concepts for the combo I've avoided rolling fresh because I don't want duplicate builds and which needed different body types or height from the original. Now I'll just cross my fingers for more build slots to dink around with.

Thread title says it all. Getting rid of obscene content is one thing, but what about spelling errors? Or information about one of your own characters that's inaccurate? Where do you folks draw the line when it comes to editing other people's work?
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally, I avoid editing the content of pages unless it's to correct common formatting errors or categorize a page or some such, or if the author is using Template:Help Me to request assistance.
As far as the second question goes, it's one thing to correct a factual inaccuracy such as a misspelled name, but if it's merely one character's unflattering opinion of another character, there shouldn't be an issue -- if you object to someone's description or reference to your character, talk to them about it in-game or leave a note on their User_talk or the article talk page, politely requesting the reference be corrected or removed.
The following's more of a related PSA than in response to your question: If it's an extension of in-game drama, don't bring it to the wiki; report it as harassment on the UHVU forums and stand clear. Sysops get grumpy when asked to mediate and don't care who started it. -

Soloing a Defender can be a bit tedious, especially at the lower levels. Do you have any or multiple veteran attack powers? That might help you ease into things.
[/ QUOTE ]
Definitely does. /rad's -Defense coupled with the damage boost on a Tar Patch made Sands of Mu a staple power from 1-50 on my Defender, alleviating a lot of the low damage worries. -
I just got the Dark/Rad Defender version of my 50 Rad/Dark Corruptor to 50 itself last week. I think the Corruptor mindset is a great way to approach the combo, it's at its strongest when played offensively in my experience. It solos slower but safer than the corruptor, and while I did miss Scourge on the way up not so much as to make the experience intolerable. Maybe because Rad is so low damage-wise anyway, I didn't notice the difference that much. Waiting an extra ten levels for Cosmic Burst hurt a little, but having Fearsome Stare eight earlier is a great tradeoff.
Damage output is lower than the corr, but you and your team are even more unkillable with the Def. I mirrored the original build as much as possible on the Defender (I use Proton Volley point-blank on the Corr for the glee of a Scourging facesnipe thanks to Darkest Night, but I swapped it for Neutron Bomb on the Def to amplify my debuffing and AoE damage since I team more often on that build), and I'm thrilled with the results. I'll probably retire the Defender if Going Rogue lets me move the Corruptor into my SG, but that's for concept reasons as much as playstyle preference.
[ QUOTE ]
However, I am a soloer. I like fighting, not supporting, and I'm concerned that a Defender isn't going to be up to the level I enjoy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Likewise. This combo satisfied me in these respects, and I say that with several death machine scrappers to compare it to. It's nowhere near as fast as any of them, but it is as reliable; I can solo very respectably on the highest difficulties even against padded spawns. Great thing about this combo is that you don't have to change your playstyle much or go out of your way at all to support a team. Go in fighting as you would on your own and you're providing support in a big way at the same time.
If damage output is the deciding factor to you though, the blaster or going /sonic instead of /rad might be more to your liking. -
Haven't done Numina in a while, does it tend to run under three hours? I'd have to leave at 5 Eastern for work, if that's not a problem sign me up with my Dark/Rad Defender, Androgyne, and feel free to bump me if needed to accomodate more sign-ups who can commit to the eventuality of a long haul.

I use orange to highlight a single sentence in the briefing that sums up What You're Going To Do, and red when indicating timers or You Should Bring A Team, as those are the two customs that stayed in my head from whatever series of dev missions I'd last played before I started playing with the MA.
Standards I just kind of made up and ran with at the time and will probably carry over into other stuff: I use sky blue to highlight a mention of optional allies, and bold on a section inside of that to indicate Hey There's A Reason You Might Want This Ally. I color the arc title and mission names with a color I associate with the arc's subject matter. I use italicized light gray text instead of white as part of indicating you're not standing there talking to the contact but reaching them via phone for a few briefings.
It would probably help a bit if they put a little help in standardizing into the MA itself, adding to the right-click dropdown "Objective" and "Warning" separate from the color options, with those selections functioning to add the appropriate color tags. IIRC, the instructors in the AE buildings have some info on how to use color, forget if it includes those suggestions but I think it does. -
(Q-ish R)
I ran across this tag earlier today while thumbing through MA arcs and at first had the same suspicion Aliana_Blue mentioned, but reading the descriptions suggested otherwise. Realized what it had been when I saw this thread's title. My arc's got a lot of writing but its focus is less the story and more aimed at provoking a roller-coastery wait-what-just-happened? feel, so I'm still debating whether to drop this tag on mine for now.
I'm starting to greatly prefer the use of odd acronyms such as this to regular words. First, it lets the author save Description space; secondly, it's much more accurate for the browser. When I searched for "SFMA" out of curiosity after seeing it, the only arcs that turned up were ones so tagged. -

How do i make it soo the clue only shows at last collection? the only think i can think of is make 9 bombs and then add the 10th to spawn on finish 9 collection.. but i really dont wanna do it that way, rather have all bombs in the mission to start.
[/ QUOTE ]
This isn't actually possible, you can't trigger collections off of other objectives. Probably the closest to what you want to achieve would be to use the Mission Complete clue; the player won't get that until the kill all is done as well though, but if it's a small enough map they'll probably end up doing that before they can get all the clicks anyway. -
That's great! I was joking with SG-mates the other day about renaming my spines/nin stalker "Arc ID 4077", since I only created him when the look of my spines/nin minions in action really caught my fancy during testing. I settled for just putting a plug in his bio but now, hm. I might actually roll up a couple characters to do this with. I really like the idea because if one of your arc's main draws is neat customs and/or you're an RPer, you're displaying or even acting out a preview of what's in store.
And, if you're just futzing around creating characters or writing text for an arc and don't need a higher level to test with, why not do all your work at the AE terminal on that character? -
Fairchild. Any time the game's telling you that just google the problem name along with "comic book" and you should turn up an answer.

Will rogue groups fight one another? (Like, if I make a rogue ambush when the AV is at 3/4 hp, then another rogue ambush at 1/2, will they fight one another?)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, not exclusively but they will. They come gunning for you but if they run into regular spawns or the previous ambushes on their way, some of them will get distracted; the first mission in my arc (shameless plug: 4077, Attack of the Space Gremlins!) uses Rogue ambushes from different enemy groups at each health point of the first Boss encounter. Rogue alignment's a great tool for creating the sense of a hectic free-for-all without actually instantly murderizing the player and, if the battle is making you sweat, they can back off around a corner or pull the boss through them for a little breathing room. -
Not to some. Real rewards are random and require me to stop and delete the readily identifiable crap or run off to a vendor/Wentworth's every time I fill up. It's a minor nuisance, sure, but one I'm glad I'll never have to deal with again. With tickets I can pick up what I actually need salvage and enhancement-wise then roll for recipes if and when I actually feel like taking the time to deal with crafting and selling.

Attack of the Space Gremlins!
Arc ID: 4077
Morality: Heroic
Length: "Very Long", 4 missions.
Difficulty: Moderate. Recommended level: 40-45, soloable with caution but a team is recommended. Includes an AV in the last mission, an ally is available to assist.
Angus McQueen enlists your aid in preventing Arachnos from making a pirate spaceflight to claim the secrets of a derelict alien vessel discovered in Earth's orbit. Things quickly get out of hand at the launch site, forcing you to use Arachnos' own plan for reaching the ship to keep it out of opportunistic enemy hands. Once aboard, you awaken the ship's hibernating inhabitants and hijinks ensue!
While it's inspired by Gx the Space Gremlin's back story, my character is only mentioned once in passing as a means of justifying the use of the term "space gremlin"; this arc was written as an adventure for public consumption. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out (except for having to trim a gremlin to counter an unexplained bloat between the Test & Live versions), and would greatly appreciate any feedback & criticism. -
Test ID: 20991
Live ID: 4077 -
Likewise, had an arc that was publishable on Test at 99.6-ish, when I opened it on live 105.11%.

Just a question. Would it be considered relevant to post the text in costume files? (For example, on Usurper Dyne's page, a link to another article containing his .costume data) With the impending release of Issue 14, other players can make use of these files to create missions with character guest appearances, so I wondered if putting them here would be a more useful way of doing things than waiting for custom content sharing sites to appear (the only one that I know is already out there doesn't have direct user management of the data, unlike a wiki). - Dyne 06:43, 7 April 2009 (MST)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd say go for it, just make it a subpage of the character, Usurper Dyne/Costume for example. VirtueVerse is for posting information about Virtue creations after all and posting a .costume file's contents isn't much different, in terms of the nature of the content, from posting a screenshot (and takes up less space to boot). If you're comfortable with it being available to the public to do as they will with, share away. -
Arc Name: Attack of the Space Gremlins
Arc ID: 20991
Faction: Heroic
Creator Global/Forum Name: Napalm Juicer Fiasco on Test, AlwaysAPrice on Live/forum
Difficulty Level: 40-45, soloable with caution but team recommended. AV in last mission.
Description: A derelict spacecraft has been drawn into Earth orbit. Both the U.S. government and Arachnos, among others, seek to lay claim to whatever secrets it may hold.
Estimated Time to Play: Maybe 60-90 minutes, can probably be rushed through in half an hour or less.
Link to More Details or Feedback:
More Spoilery Description: You are sent to Warburg to prevent Arachnos from launching an experimental spacecraft to salvage the vessel, and are forced to contend with the Council, Crey, and the Malta Group as all three try to take control of the launch site. With no other option, you wind up taking the Arachnos spacecraft up into orbit yourselves to investigate the alien ship and inadvertently unleash a horde of genetically manufactured alien beasts on both Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. Culminates in the defense of Atlas Park with the aid of Ms. Liberty and a handful of beginner heroes.
Note: First couple times I tested this after publishing, a required objective didn't spawn in the first mission; tried again today and it worked fine. If you run into this, please let me know. -
Published my first arc today, pretty happy with how it turned out but would like to have some feedback and criticism to help me fine-tune it a little further before live. As the name suggests the main threat of the arc is a custom group based on Gx the Space Gremlin's backstory, but I left him out of the actual arc to save space and keep the arc fast-paced (decided a detour to highlight my character would've only slowed things down and not really added anything to the story).

Was tooling around with my SG's GuildPortal today and figured out something I thought I'd pass along: you can integrate the wiki into your site with the Embedded Page content type, and with a tweak in the URL field you can set it up so visitors can browse your group's articles from a list of links on the GP.
Misfit UHVU Portal
If you enter the URL for the Embedded Page like so:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>http://www.virtueverse.com/" name="uhvu</pre><hr />
(the missing closing quote is correct) you can then target links elsewhere on the same GP page into the Embedded Page frame. Just have to do similarly if you use the Link List content types:
<font class="small">Code:<hr /><pre>http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/Category:League_of_Misfits" target="uhvu</pre><hr />
Though if you make the list in a Freeform/HTML box, the Link Properties window has a field where you can just select "Target" from a dropdown list and enter the target name (uhvu in these examples). -

On patrol is the default Day Job for players who dont log out from one of the specific Day Job locations. We wanted to make sure everyone got some type of reward, even if they didnt have the time to get to a specific location before logging out.

Glad to see that this will work as originally announced, though now that On Patrol's reward is known I'm sure others won't be. -

I tried to find a list of all the people who're currently nominated for featured article status but there doesn't seem to be a page anywhere for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hopefully we can get a link put into the Features section once the current Feature update is out of its sandbox, but there is such a page, found on the Community Portal section: Category:Featured Article Candidates. Had a spot of trouble tracking it down myself last week. -
Just expressing my own assessment of the situation here, not speaking on behalf of UHVU.

[ QUOTE ]
Users should heed the warning regarding uploading images larger then 150k.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is ridiculous. Going back, deleting, resizing and reuploading every image over 300k is a huge time sink, not only for me but for a great deal of people on that list.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which would be why we were given one month's advance notice; in fact, well more than a month if one includes the time before an actual date was set for the purge.
[ QUOTE ]
If you didn't want us to upload images over 300k you should have made that impossible, not just frowned upon. People have a way of ignoring recommendations for convenience.
[/ QUOTE ]
And in doing so they implicitly accept the consequences of their disregard. Furthermore, the cut-off for the purge is actually TWICE the recommended limit -- the people this might inconvenience were not only disregarding the warning but doing so flagrantly, possibly even abusively. Virtueverse is not Photobucket or DeviantArt, the image upload ability is meant to be used to enhance and illustrate pages, and bloated file sizes simply aren't necessary for that purpose. Even large-resolution files can be dropped under 150k by saving them as jpegs with perhaps slightly lowered quality. For example, your largest image on the list, CharonvsStyx.jpg, currently at 869k, could be brought under the 300k limit by reducing the compression quality by only 10-11% -- which has virtually no effect on the visual quality of the image. Combine that with a moderate resizing (say 75% or so of original size?) and it'd probably dip under the 150k mark.
[ QUOTE ]
So due to the fact that you chose not to enforce this rule from the outset you are causing a massive inconvenience to everybody on that list, and a great deal of them are very talented contributors to the Wiki.
[/ QUOTE ]
Many of them are, but talent does not entitle anyone to special treatment when the issue is one of keeping the server running smoothly for all users. This purge will remove slightly more than 3% of all the images on VirtueVerse, 340 out of about 10,500 that require considerably more resources to store and transmit (and thus more of kadekawa's money) than the other 10,160. I would guess that restricting uploading probably wasn't a priority when the wiki was fired up as it needed to be seen how that ability would be used or what, if any, effect it would have on performance -- or for all I know, it may not even be possible in MediaWiki to restrict uploading in anything more than an allow/disallow fashion. Whatever the reason, it is being enforced now.
[ QUOTE ]
On a final note, I just have to drop in that your warning in bold there doesn't really hold all that much water, considering two site admins are on the list you posted. If a site admin doesn't heed the file size recommendation then why should I?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because whether or not you heed it, if you've uploaded a file that exceeds the recommendation by double its amount or more, that file will be deleted when the automated purge happens -- an automated purge that selects its targets by file size, not uploader name, and as such will be removing all overlarge files including those uploaded by admins.
For anyone who does not know how or feels they don't have the time to resize their images themselves, shoot me a PM here with your Virtueverse username; I'll check your uploaded images and do it for you. It takes seconds to open an image in GIMP, resize and/or adjust JPG compression, then upload it back in the place of the previous oversized version. Just be sure you have the original stored elsewhere. -

[ QUOTE ]
I cant tell you how excited I am for our games future, and although we have some major announcements yet to be made, one of the things I can talk about is a feature that we are planning. Similar in concept to our character creator, it allows you, the players, to create missions and story arcs for your characters and others to participate in. Youll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions. When you are satisfied with it, you can upload it and have other players across all servers play it and rate it. Fame will come to the players whose stories rate the best overall. It is features like these that we never dreamed of including when we first shipped, but are excited to be able to offer players very soon.
