Don't. Seriously. It may seem a lot of text to you, but it's really not. You're just expressin' yourself, man, so you don't need to stress out so much about how much - or how little - information you're giving us. This is a nice, meaningful manner in which to convey yourself, and nobody is going to be intimidated by this much text who's worth listening to.

As for the rest, I'm pretty sure the thread's covered it, but I just wanted to offer that.
  2. QR, DR;

It's because the people who are making those kind of complaints don't know how to become tougher, don't know what actually makes them tougher, don't even care to know. So they assume that it's a simple equation with money in one end, survivability out the other end, so they can be bitter about it. If someone talks about purple IOs in the context of survivability, they are almost certainly just highlighting their ignorance.

Oh look, it was quite possible.
Except the devs didn't say 'impossible.' They said it was a ton of work. Which it was. Which is why it took a long time.

You paint every person against you as uniform and ignorant; and you yourself are the reasonable one. Hence...

    .
Smugness, sure, but that's just because I'm a lot smarter than the people I tend to argue with. Revisionist history, on the other hand? Fancy explaining to me what you're basing that claim on?

And hey, I have a plenty fine attitude. I just don't like you.

The guy who says 'Power customization should be implemented right now and it isn't complicated or hard to do' is not vindicated when power customization arrives. Your revisionistic, smug and supercilious attitude is what earns you resentment, and so far no amount of time marching onwards has changed that.

    Dispel your doubts.
  7. You can say you're a hippo all you want, but that doesn't mean you can lick crocodiles.

The point of view you claim to espouse is flagrantly at odds with the actions you want taken to support it. You drape your ideas and your rhetoric in the flag of the greater good while beneath clutching tightly to your entirely immature selfishness.

That might qualify as a personal attack, but whatever - it's true. You claim you're seeking A, but you're not. The ideas you espouse for it aren't seeking A, they're much more likely seeking X, which just happens to make you feel good, so you fool yourself into thinking it's A.

It's a very personal attack to state [REDACTED]

It's very much an observation of facts to say that you're a liar. Because you've lied, and you lied about lying and you've lied about lying about being a liar.

That said... you're not looking to do the impossible. You want an Iron Man analogue? It's very doable. But you don't do it by saying 'I have a defender, I will say he's Iron Man, therefore he should be able to do what Iron Man does.'

I have on my hard drive, a variety of builds that do some truly astounding things, by comparison to what their classes are 'supposed' to do. My empath is useless for healing, but runs around in laser fire untouchable and can slam down his nuke every fifteen seconds. He is without a doubt, a powerful character*, and he is doing the kind of thing you sound like you want to be done.

But it was not done easily, and it was not done by me mashing my face against the keyboard. I had to make decisions and learn to build and build well.

If you really do want these powerful characters, your best bet is not to complain on the forums, but to actually learn how to design and shape characters well. Don't just ask what people are doing, ask why they're doing it. Learn. And you will find yourself all the richer for it.

You cannot build 'outside the box' if you have no idea how to build inside the box. I am reminded of Johnny Butane's whining about tankers needing more damage; I have a tanker who routinely hits his own damage cap and obliterates spawns before scrappers can catch up. How much more damage should I have? I worked hard to build that character to do that kind of thing, after all.

    * Frustratingly, since part of the character's concept is that he's not the powerful one, it's all his friends getting the buffs who are drawing on themselves, not the sidekick.
  9. Ultimo, nobody in that thread was trying to convince you - you're a liar, so you can always just lie. We were just pointing out that you were wrong for our own amusement and for the edification of people who aren't fundamentally closed-minded to things like reality and evidence.

    Mu population

*nods* Chyron HR offered up this:
    Quote:
"I have translated the Circle's scrolls, Character. And even I am somewhat shaken by what I have learned. It seems the Circle summoned Lilitu primarily to distract us from their real goal. Even as we speak, they are preparing a great ceremony in the sky, a ceremony that will wipe out all descendants of Mu. Now, ordinarily, I'd have some sympathy with that goal. The problem is, by now the Mu bloodlines run through a vast percentage of the population--about 20 percent, if my sources can be believed. That's a lot of important people, Character. It could even include you. I need you to stop that ceremony. Stop it, before it's too late! "
Which I now post here in case anyone else gets curious to know.

    Mu population

Hey, quick lore question. Someone trotted out that Mu blood represents a significant percent of the population. Anyone remember off the top of their head the amount that percent was?
  12. This thread is now about Magic: The Gathering decks.

    ...

    ...

    ...

    No?

    Dangit.
  13. I think the greater issue is that all the low-mag immobs and most of the slows can afford to go away. It basically has three times the secondary effects that a set should have.
  14. Castle's comments on spines were pretty spread, but he did note that there were too many secondary effects, that redraw's influence on its damage was hard to balance against, and that daring to fix it was a headache too great to contend with right now. You see the pissing and moaning that the Shield thread generated to get an idea of why he thinks that.

Oh, and to address this specifically, I haven't neg-repped anyone in this thread. I make a point to only positively rep people as a rule. I also sign it.

Which, incidentally, is something BZB also does. And I respect him for it, since it's more than most do.
  16. One could choke on that kind of hypocritical piety; try to be careful.

    You sound concerned.

    Sorry, let me elaborate.

By drawing attention to this terrible woe, in our society, you have clearly positioned yourself as a true and clear-thinking indvidual who's so much better than hoi polloi who let ourselves get worked up, and point out when wrong is wrong and fail to accord respect to a person who has, through years of posting, through a long, protracted, and deliberate set of actions, chosen to make himself a laughingstock.

We are being respectful human beings; we are according to Ultimo every bit of respect he has earned, complete with his multiple second chances.

Every game has something in it that's not fun and is supposed to be not fun. The very first thing in question is called losing.

    I'm impressed, man.
  21. It holds some decent set bonuses.

    *pours you a beer*
  23. I find this rather odd. Myself, I've noticed when I invest in IO set bonuses, Dam/Reches tend to be more expensive than Dam/Ends. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

    Farm Builds.

First of all, you assume wrong. Those million-inf enhancements made from thousand-inf recipes do sell.

If you frankenslot everything you have at 22, then as you level up, each odd level just adding 2 odd enhancements - even if they're just commons or other frankenslot pieces - you will generally be ahead of SOing and save yourself a ton of money.
