We're all civilized, open minded folks here, who certainly don't make assumptions that everything will be awesome based on a flashy preview. And we're not at all blind dev fanbois and apologists.

    Nope.

    Never.

    Not here.

Just good civilized open minded discussion.

I'm so glad that it's acceptable and even encouraged to offer up a differing opinion here without fear of the frothing herd blindly stampeding on you. It's refreshing.

Ah, see, some people agree. I do, it would be nice to have alternate, different animations for the set.

That said, I will understand why there might not be/aren't. I also realise that there might be alternates, now the tech is in place

I think most people just object to the whiny, 'wants his cake now' attitude of the OP

By GR I meant Praetoria. GR in it's entirety will, with more likelihood than me eating chocolate (very likely) have full range of content. The Devs aren't going to take the time to make all this cool stuff, then make it 1-20. This is doomsaying.

There will be, at the very least, the stuff that will need to be done for side switching, which is guarenteed by Positron to be a fair chunk ('Not just a lightswitch')
So, patience. Everyone else has to wait too.

    ^ This

I check once in a while. And I +rep people I think are polite and make good points, or do funny stuff.
  5. I can think of ways to do nearly all the attacks, bar maybe the 'Rain of shrapnel' attack, without flashy moves.

PBAoE Nuke. Stand up straight, both guns pointed forward, start firing, swing one way, the other, then full circle. Doesn't have to be so flashy, and more 'believable'. Hell, we could even get a whooshing trenchcoat in there.

As for the cone, similar, but just stood straight and the contemptous 'mow you down' arc of fire.
T'be honest, we DONT know what all the attacks do, therefore it's kinda hard to judge what alternates there could be.

And, personally? I love 'em as they are ^^

I don't get where people are coming from with all this 'GR is ONLY lvl 1-20'.

1-20 are the levels you can REMAIN NEUTRAL. Fully neutral, from the Praetorian origin. At that point, from what has been said, you must either pick Hero or Villain. I would hazard a guess that means Vigilante and Rogue too, as the Devs said in the past that it was a goal to allow characters to remain 'in the shades of grey'.

After 20, then there is the rest of Praetoria to get through. Given the side switching is not just a switch, as Positron said, that would logically mean some sort of missions, arcs, something like that. Thats just part of it. And thats open to all levels.

GR won't just be 1-20 content. Sure, I can't prove it until a redname drops in here and confirms that, but I will safely bet that I will eat one of my hats if Praetoria is only lvl 1-20 stuff. It doesn't gell with what we know and have been told.

Not that an Eeeeeeeeevil Marcus Cole could not dye his hair to match his heart (evil laugh.)

Anyone else remember anything to that effect? It is no biggie, but that is what I thought.
In the original video of CoH, with Statesman's first incarnation, he had dark hair. In some of the comics where he had a ripped costume, iirc, he had dark hair.

Reich's has brown hair, Emperor Cole has dark hair...
It looks MUCH better that way. Blonde doesn't really work with that sort of build, character or with the costumes.

From my reading of the arcs (and I've been through Tina Macintyres arc more than a few times), the name 'Clockwork' was attached to Antimatter/Neuron's robotic lackeys because they look at first glance like the larger Clockwork Princes.

Not because there's any connection to the loon with his brain in a jar.

The Radiation spewing bots of doom basically use a Clockwork Prince model with a new texture.

So if you would care to compare a Clockwork Prince to a Praetorian Nuon, you'll see the resemblance.

Play through Tina Macintyres arc with the original intent, i.e. that this is a completely new dimension with which you've had no prior contact and about which you have no information, and you can see why they'd be referred to using a term with which Tina is already familiar. That, and the fact that the first mission you get from Tina is pretty much universally the Psychic Clockwork King mission, thus informing Tina that Clockwork exist in other dimensions, and you can see even more opportunity for Tina to be mistaken.

However, this term is now causing confusion and making people seek connections with the Clockwork King when there is no such relationship implied other than by visual resemblance (and recycling mob geometry with a new texture about 20 levels after it stopped cropping up in the story arcs).

All this, of course is only my interpretation of the situation as related in game, YMMV.
^ Also the point I was trying to get at.

The man behind the Clockwork is the Praetorian Dr Vahzilok. He's used to dealing with large numbers of automaton minions; in Praetoria he just gives them a chrome finish.

He'd be a lot more controllable than the incredible psychic power of the Clockwork King. And he could certainly be working under someone like Anti-Matter or Neuron.
    Ha!
Y'know, that would actually be kinda cool

  20. 'Praetorian Clockwork' is the fault of the old (current) Praetorian minions of Anti-Matter and Neuron. Anti-matter built the blue robots, Neuron built the silver robots. They were, irrc, inspired by the Clockwork of Primal Earth. Anti-matters minions used radiation, while Neuron's minions stuck to using electricity.

These new ones are a whole new breed of kickass.

The I r Rikti robot thing doesn't really help you make a point clearly. Especially when I've been up half the night. If it's meant to be funny, use it in funny threads. If you're trying to have a serious discussion about something: rethink.
I'm sorry I didn't take you personal condition into account. I will try to develop psychic powers in future.

I use the Rikti-speak occasionally in funny threads, when I can make it funny. The rest of the time I use it when I lose patience with people, or feel motivated enough to try and drum something into peoples heads. Results vary, as expected.

By the same token, why does it cost more than 30 times the energy to swing the sword, than to swing the shield to block?

See, the argument completely, and totally, fails.

Your assumption is still that a shield power costs too much, and in that respect, Sprint costing a tiny fraction more is too much . The reality is still, in terms of actual endurance usage, that the shield power at .24 isn't costing much of anything, by itself. There are a lot more expensive toggles than that (just look at a Stormie, for instance)........but, of course, that doesn't fit the argument the framework for this incredibly weak argument.

I not only don't see it changed, but even if Sprint were made entirely free, it wouldn't help those having an endurance problem. It's nothing more than the tiny slice you turn off, with other tiny slices, when you're having major endurance problems. By itself, it's not much of anything.
Shield powers work with the very base of, for the sake of argument, a Scrapper. Attack and defence. You need the defences to be able to use the attacks.
The end use is small, but constantly ticking.
The attacks use more end, for one off damage.

Im not even sure why Im arguing that, because that is NOT the point of the OP. I seem to have missed the part where you became psychic somewhere.

Sprint is a basic power, given at level 1. Its the 'base movement power' if you will. It's cost, when compared with the other basic power and the powers in the 2 AT Sets is unreasonable.

If its not such an issue for certain, whats the problem with changing it? It'd be hard to say 'Give us a walk button, a stroll button and a run button, all of them customisable.'
Reduce the endurance cost to a more reasonable level. Who loses?
  24. I thought you meant costume slots...which would have me mauling someone until it happened...
