Pet AI has always been buggy. Sadly. My Protector bots still seem to think they have what it takes to run up and belt the Boss in the face....stupid things -_-

Ok, so I went for Mender Roebucks TF.
WARNING! Blunt Critiscism and feedback!
Quote:So, there we have it.ID: 105839
Mender Roebucks TF
Contact; Initial contact grammar is kinda haphazard. You need full stops, and spaces after them. Same for his contact details. Proof-read and spell check.
Mission 1;
Intro: Mission intro grammar and spelling is as bad if not worse than the initial contact. Really, really need to proof-read that, and add in ?’s for questions.
Mission Map: Good choice of map. The mobs look good and, while the names made me raise an eyebrow at first, (Mann) the details are very good. It’s ‘Polish Citizens’, however. It’s ‘Know’, not ‘no’. Avoid using capital letters at random in the middle of a sentence.
Far too many random ‘Save Civilians’. One of them is incorrectly named as ‘2 save a,’. Use the Plural box on the objectives for when there are more than one, and use plural titles, like ‘2 Polish civilians left to save’.
Mostly trimming and cleaning up of grammar and spelling, not a bad mission to open with. (There is no need to have ‘For the German Axis Army!’. Really sounds unconvincing. ‘For the Reich!’, ‘For the Fuhrer!’ or just ‘For Germany!’ would be better). I would question the use of Martial arts on standard soldiers, especially the LT Schutze. Even just basic invul would work better, to simulate flak jackets and armour padding, but that’s just opinion.
Return Dialogue: OUCH! Just ouch....Sorry, but the typos and grammar here are criminal. Spell-check, grammar check, Hell I’ll do it for you. But either way, it needs sorting out.
Mission 2;
Intro; Same glaring grammar and spelling errors. Also, you might want to read up on the Council a bit more. The 5th Column might be more appropriate to use, since they were the Nazi based villain group. The Council were fascists, but they were also the Italian splinter faction that betrayed and took over the 5th. Them working alongside the Axis only sort of makes sense.
Mission Map: Hmm...Council Empire map...with Axis America and Council Empire mixed up. And Synapse as the Axis EB? Possibly not the best choice, since Synapse requires Crey existing to get his powers. Would that happen on an Axis Earth? Also, there’s no surprise as to who the Hero is; it says it there in the mission objective. Making it ‘Defeat Axis Hero’ or something would at least retain some element of surprise. The Newspaper clue also makes me heavily question why you chose the Council. The 5th Column would be far more appropriate.
Return Dialogue; The war only lasted one year? 1939 -1945 isn’t one year. I’d recommend checking out the Paragon Wiki, and its helpful timeline for the game world. There are just too many inconsistencies, even for an arc to do with time travel.
Mission 3;
Intro; I guess General Claws (Seriously?) will be a Burkholder clone. Also, Burkholder is called just that; ‘Burkholder’s Bane’ is the BADGE you get for running the Hess TF a number of times, I think? Or just once...Either way, incorrect.
Mission Map; Nice map choice. But another mob change? Given this is all set in one timeline, some consistency would really help. Also, fighting the German Army with a better setting (x3) gives me a good indication where they need tweaking; Less Martial arts, less web grenades, and less blind grenades. Multiple stacked web grenades are the work of the devil, and make arcs major un-fun for melee characters. I like the use of Assault Bots, though.
General Claws turns out to be a nice surprise. Although now his name just puzzles me. If it refers to his robotic arcs then...well, myeah. Just ‘General Burkholder’ would suffice, surely? Again, more of an opinion there. Still, I liked the mish overall. Nice mix of stuff to do, nice map, nicely done. Just a bit of mob balance and text checking.
Return Dialogue; See the above comments on dialogue.
Mission 4;
Intro; Ok, despite the spelling, that’s quite a cool twist. However, it does mean you really should go back and clean out the Axis America units from earlier, and really stop using Axis in general. The Council are fascists, but not really Axis units. Again with checking the spelling and grammar. I would also advise against revealing whats going to happen in the ‘Accept Mission’ text.
Mission Map; Overall pretty good. Requiem’s dialogue’s a bit off; I doubt he would ever even think of using the word ‘guys’. Again, mis-matched mobs; the 5th Column were German. They were THE German Super Soldiers; having them fighting other Germans is...wierd, to say the least. Also, how do they know your Taskforce name? They’re from the past, they don’t even know who the hell you are. Or shouldn’t do.
Return Dialogue; Grammar, spelling.
Mission 5;
Intro; Pretty much the same as the others. Not bad, but needs polishing. It also fails to mention the timer on this one.
Mission Map; Not too shabby, but again with the ‘Bunch of Mobs’. The Allied Soldiers are quite a fun touch, and they do tend to slaughter anything in their way. Typo’s and such in Scar’s biog and all. Some warning about both the EBs would be nice, as they do hit rather hard. Especially Scar. The bright neon orange shield is...wierd. And a simple baton? I would heavily recommend changing that, and giving some severe warning about him. He’s nasty, to the point that the ambushes feel like overkill. The timer is set about right, so no worries there.
Return Dialogue; Grammar, spelling.
OVERALL; 3/5 Stars. Good arc overall, quite a cool plot, spoiled by some clunky missions, mob melding and the spelling and grammar. Needs some polishing but could be a really neat arc. Not a bad job at all.
Now, the arc I'd like reviewed is in my sig; Crown of Iron, Heart of Steel Part 1.
Crown of Iron, Heart of Steel Part 1: ID - 236933. A whole dimension away, but some things never change.
Please be honest and brutal with it. I'd like some feedback on what can actually be improved. Oh, and the slightly messed up spawning levels I cant do anything about, I've forwarded that to Doc Aeon, and hoping something gets fixed one day. -
-
Check two things; Difficulty settings (You can maybe get away with x2, especially if on -1, but no higher, unless you're lethal) and what mobs you are fighting. Some mobs are blaster death, in the same way Carnies are the bane of anything melee based, VG slaughter res armour tanks/blaster, etc etc.

Heh, multiple kudos.
Do not let me detain you. -
Quote:You ever tried the Cavern of Transcendance TF?Yeah, one or two of those challenges might be nice, but handicapping the players in each mission and essentially turning the whole thing into a "Master" challenge (except less forgivable) isn't a good idea.
Heck, even forcing the team to split up and then having to deal with constant threats within the same instance might be nice. I imagine maybe 3 glowies that have to be clicked at once, and they each have a 1 minute timer. While the timer is counting down, you get ambushed and the other player(s) have to defend their allies who're working on the glowies. Mind you, if you get "hit", then everyone has to start over again, and that would trigger another wave of ambushes to be defended against. Such a TF would then require at least 6 players (or 3-5 if one has a LOT of defense to avoid attacks!)
Also, instead of not allowing people to rez, have more TFs use a "prison" map. It's already a feature within the game, it should be used more.
Maybe more huge mobs. In the 5th column TFs, there are quite a few times where you come up against far more enemies than a single player can agro. These require a bit more strategy to get through unscathed.
As for Avs, instead of just making them hugely resistant bags of HP, allow them to have (one or two) auto hit attacks that ignore who they're agro'd to. Maybe not enough damage to kill a player in one shot, but enough of a distraction to make the team scramble to keep itself alive. Give them 100 foot full circle AoEs so no one is completely safe.
And you want a mega challenge? The tech already exists for AI to somewhat duplicate player powers (MA)... -iF- this could be done on the fly, along with copying the player's image, perhaps have the team fight themselves! Or rather, AI-controlled versions of themselves, anyway (threw that last part in to avoid any confusion with forced PvP).
=)
I think there's a reason it only gets played by those who are after the badge...I wonder what it could be...?
Ah yes, Reichsman's lolAmbush attack waves...Horrible, horrible, horrible. I know, let's make this even more fun by simply SWAMPING them with wave after endless wave of attackers! Oh, and we're going to do it instantly, so they dont even have time to read the temp powers designed to sort of help with that stage!
Seriously, at least have a pop-up saying what the temps do, so you dont need to scrabble blindly in your tray for them. And maybe a delay on Reichs spawning?
No, I know the waves aren't endless...we found that out the hard way on our SG run when it first came out. We killed ALL of them. By hand. Slowly. And then we couldnt kill him, because back then the MM power that shut off his horrible Godmode was broken. And I was the MM...
Prison bits are ok...except when they give the Doors EB level hitpoints. Y'know the Arachnos base map with the prison? When that gets USED as a prison, it's not fun. Those things are tough. The best bit? They EXPLODE when you destroy them. This usually means that any squishy character not pressed flat against the back wall tends to faceplant instantly, again. And then has to do it all over again.
lolAoE attacks are not fun either. That just sounds nasty. There is a large difference between 'Challenging' and 'Making Bosses Cheat'. -
/Signed. I like em, and more options are good.

I had the KB IO in my Brute, before I cleaned him out and delted him. DB/DA.
Sure, he could cut stuff up great. But he got mauled in return. I was fighting run of the mill Longbow. Not higher level, -res nading and ungodly powers Longbow, level 30 longbow. I was getting slaughtered regularly.
Either way...it just wasn't fun. So, meh. More power to you if you can make it work. But its harder than it should be to balance out. -
A Fire/Fire/Fire blaster built right is....ungodly awesomely powerful. A friend actually BROKE one of my AE arcs, her character was so powerful. It's set so the custom enemies only spawn (or used to, can't remember if I changed it...) at LT level and above. It was meant to be challenging. Most people struggled with the mission; she carved a swathe of robotic destruction through them.
Although that doesn't mean I don't want a Blast/Shields AT. I would love to have a Dual Pistols/SR character, or an Energy Blast/Invul or...the lsit goes on.
I still think it IS balanceable. But I dont know if it could ever happen. -

For playing a mime.
((Kudos is you know where that comes from
))

The only characters I have even started to IO are my two level 50s (bar the major annoying KB hole in Ninjitsu and Soldiers of Arachnos, which I plugged)
Pretty much any build you can just slam lvl 50 vanilla IOs in and it'll run nicely. I never touch the market, except for the afforementioned two, or to sometimes flog something shiny I got, or to get costume salvage. I dont have the patience/mindset/time for the market. I cant say Ive felt disadvantaged by not doing so.
Give a Bots/Traps MM a try. Me and a friend duod +2 Hero level Positron and Valkyrie with them
Makes ya feel nice and super, especially on SOs.

I play a fair ammount, but I'd still say I am 'casual', in that I dont bother with IO's till 50, barely see 2mil inf through standard play, and generally just mess around and team with friends and making RP characters (e.g. all of them)
If there is going to be something special about this, I know I for one would rather not have something that requires me to basically go the Market path (e.g. grind my backside off for stupid ammounts of inf all of gods given day) The reason I tend to avoid the market is because it is NOT, for me, Fun.
Slightly off topic, please, god, LESS Bosses that are fat sacks of HP to be wailed on. Reichsmans fight, at least redside, is HORRIBLE. He's just a massive stack of hax and HP, that requires you to wail on him for ages and ages and ages.
Romulous, now, THAT fight is fun, because you CAN just run in and mash him. Or you can use tactics. There are multiple ways to bring him down. And, yes, his rez stun is annoying, but its also avoidable (Line of Sight), which adds another aspect of 'doing something', rather than hit-hit-hit-repeat.
Challenging bosses do not require stupid ammounts of HP and cheaty attacks. That equals -Fun, mag 100. -
Since when was running on IOs meant to be necessary to run a set without dying?
Last time I checked, balance was still centered around SOs, as it should be.
Less than 400 million? Some of us rarely see 2 million, let alone a couple of hundred. -
Yeah, original link to PDF is abominable.
Comics were good though. I should get off my lazy can and do something like that

Anthropomorphic heads that don't looks evil/slightly spactarded would be awesome. Along with decent, functional tails.
Not everyone who designs a 'Furry' character is automatically a Furry. 'Furry' as it is more commonly know, or derided, is actually a subset of Anthropomorphic (or Anthromorph, or just plain Anthro) characters. Anthro stuff is not just animals, either; it is giving *anything non-human human emotions and expressions.
Death the character is technically an anthro, because you are giving both a non-animate object (a skeleton) and a force of nature a personality. /example
So, less hate, more stuff that works and looks decent in the future and the booster. IF it comes out looking good...I'll retract my past displeasure and stop griping about it. Then and only then!

That sounds like more fail then....
....
I think it actually BROKE my Failometer. It just sounds disgusting, and I know I for one would never touch it with anything other than an Orbital Railcannon, and thats only to light the match... -
I swear Julius unlocks at 14/15 these days.
But yeah, the strange thing is, especially on some of Flux's missions, some ofthe named Troll/Outcast bosses spawn, well, not only as LTs but at level 10? Greased Lightning and Rundum were two, I think.
Either way, it's hardly a bad thing. The Hollows Trio are a nice solid run of missions to go through. Maybe make the named enemies bosses rather than LTs though.
Oh, and Frosty is still the most Hax EB. Hold, lots of AoEs and Fire imps AND Jack Frost? He must have eaten his spinach

Quote:I would guess that would be the logical choice, then.I would put my money on it not getting proliferated to Brutes and Tankers if only because Parry would be disturbingly powerful in the hands of a target with the already substantial survivability of a Brute or Tanker. If it ever were proliferated, I would expect some other power to replace Parry if only to prevent the inordinate survivability that would come from giving what amounts to free melee defense softcapping capability to the high hp ATs.

RotP should stay right as it is. I will (one of these days...) make a Fire/Fire/Fire blaster...
Nuke, possibly die, RotP. Burny burny burny.
-toddles of to make another blaster build- -
Quote:Horse puckey and Bull doos. Tripe.I could always be a really strong server area, that you could fit 100 people in with no conection probs. or have different semi instances that link off of the main area.
Pocket D never seems to get used outside of the Christmas and valentines events. why not make it more useful??? and if not by doing this then actually make it somewhere to hang out. because if by hang out you mean stand around chatting, you can do that whilst fighting enemies, so it's kinda a waste of time and money to just stand around doing nothing in Pocket D IMO...

It's more stacked res, mez res and a possible IO slotter. Up to you wether you take it or leave it, I've found it useful to have, so I kept it.
