Serious AI problems

I'm having a serious problem with my MM pets AI.

About every other mission the bots seem to latch onto something unexplainable, and run across the map. I've been farming open area maps and its getting frustrating, Ive died twice in the last hour from bots running literally hundreds of feet away from me and leaving me without protection or anything to take aggro.

When this happens, nothing except dying seems to stop it. I've pounded defensive follow, I've pounded passive follow, Ive put them in aggressive, and I've dismissed and resummoned them. Whenever I put them into anything other than passive follow or passive stay, they will run back to wherever they were. It is not until I eventually die that they begin to behave again.

This is seriously getting irritating. I just failed a mission I was running because my bots suddenly took off for the other side of the map (all but one drone) with absolutely no explanation as to why mid battle during an escort mission.

Defensive follow should clear their aggro lists, shouldn't it? And if not, passive or a resummon should. But it appears as if the aggro list gets stuck and the bots will run through two or three groups (ignoring all who attack them) to go attack something that was not part of the original mob to begin with.

Can anyone explain this? Or relate?

The perma pets while zoning across instances is still a bit buggy. Try dismissing all of your pets and recasting them in a new mission to see if the running behaviour still happens.

I've had this happen with Necro, Ninja, Thug and Merc too. I've had them do this on elevators and lifts within the same mission even. I've watched them as they come off the elevator and start running down the hall only to aggro the group at the end of it and then dissapear, having the group at the end of the hallway come after me. I've been on an open street map and watch them run to something I don't see and refuse to work for me. The pets are no where to be found, pounding buttons, going back down elevators and zoning out and back in and still nothing. I found the trick of dismiss and resummon before zoning each level keeps them in control much easier. I send a bug report every so often just to keep them aware it's still going on.

Note: I've even noticed this on allies in missions as well. They just all of the sudden turn around and go charging off and I don't find out about it till they die. Had this happen recently during the Serpent Drummer mission. All of the sudden all my hostage/allies charged off, died, and I failed the mission.

I had to log off and go do something else before I put my fist into one of my monitors.

Yeah, I see the elevator thing normally when I'm solo'ing with my MM's. Honestly it happens with enough frequency that I've started to stop playing my MM's for the time being ...it really is maddening. I too bug it often.

Make sure stealth powers are completely off before rescuing/acquiring hostages/allies/pets. This includes stealth procs, and AoE stealth powers like steamy mist or shadowfall, and superspeed.

Omg another bug that has not been just happening to me. Instead of them running through the hall, they run through the walls! And they dont listen to instructions when they run off. But.... I found out that if you wait around 10-15 minutes, your pets come back through the elevator. But it's quicker just to resummon, it's still really! annoying

Pet AI has always been buggy. Sadly. My Protector bots still seem to think they have what it takes to run up and belt the Boss in the face....stupid things -_-

This has also been my experience.

The odds of having pets go wild and run around seems to go waaaayyyy up after bringing pets that were summoned outside a mission, into a mission. At least, that's been my experience.

When I see the pets going buggy, I dismiss and re-summon.

That's always been an issue ever since I started playing back in Dec '05 (i6 I think), and afaik there have been loads of threads regarding this.... I'm just hoping for a 3rd tier upgrade to ranged pets:

Name: Prescription Glasses
Effect: Fixes short sightedness of ranged pets to prevent them from having to run all the way up to the nose of the target and then shoot them.
On Cast: Oh Hello Horizon!
