Fun? You make this game sound like work.

Reminds me a time a while back when my VG needed an extra player to run a Strike Force. An outside party (friend of a friend) was brought in. Now we have our own little in-jokes and quirks that would probably frighten off most players, but new player, about 30 minutes in, started going on and on with **** **** ****-ity type "jokes." (Grrr... begins with "r" and rhymes with "ape".) It popped up on the SG channel that I wasn't the only one not cool with it. I asked him to lay off, he did, and things were much quieter after that.

I'm stuck on theatre and sabre and the like from my high school acting days. I also live near Centre county. And speaking of Pennsylvania, it's fun to listen to people butcher names like Duquesne, Charleroi, and Indiana.

I was in a similar situation over the weekend. I actually thought this thread might have been about me.
I was an Inv/EM Tank (created for theme, now finally shelved. I know EM sucks for AoE.) leading a full PuG. There were two other melee characters on the team, and a bubbler. When mobs were in the clear, I would jump in first, Taunt, Whirling Hands, then the other meleers would close in, followed by the ranged. Typing that out makes it seem slower than it was, but it happened pretty quick. We were doing pretty well, I don't build power PuGs, I take who I can get. We might of had one or two people drop (Running level 47 stuff at +4) but thing were going pretty well.
Then I noticed about 1/3 of the way into the mission, something was pushing the mobs -off- of me and into walls. The meleers proceeded to chase down the mobs. I realized it was Force Bubble. I asked the Bubbler to not use the power so much. The Scrappers agreed. The bubble went away.
We moved along, and then the bubble came back. It got to the point where the Bubbler was pushing mobs off of me and into other mobs. About 2/3's of the way through I told him I would not warn him again to stop using the power. After that, the bubble never came back. Granted I left the group after that mission to log, but still. -

Looking for other to teams with? You could always start your own mission team or join an active SG. But...

mmm, no I think I was pretty clear that teams are NOT easy to find now.
I went away before the AE craze hit.
Came back after AE started.
The difference is like night and day...finding team wise. Maybe you guys have been here all along so you can't see the contrast like I can.
Maybe your answer is true AND it proved my point.
You say a little effort goes a long way.
It did not take effort to find a team before, that's what sold CoX for me. ...

I'm a little confused. You say soloing is boring but you don't mind "parking" somewhere and waiting for an invite to come to you?
Really, you'd be surprised what you can get out of this game if you put a "little effort" into it. -

AE mission creation = any NPC/toon doing whatever the RP'er wants them to do. So, that said, it became alright to RP other people's characters(NPC's and the like) the moment I14 went live.
Just my $.02

And AE is a "simulator" intended to avoid any such "C'mon, my bestest bud Recluse is gonna help us beat up some ebil Raver kids!" canon-y issues. -
The interior of the Nerva Archipelago cave flashed yet again as Ahreman the Red fired off another blast of mystical red lightning at a Freakshow Tank that was trying to run for cover. As the Tank dropped to the floor, Ahreman quickly surveyed the dimly lit area, eager for another body to bludgeon. He was livid after the events earlier that night that had forced his hand to transform back into the Tetherson boy, and as he had done for generations, he took his anger out with his fists on those around him. The Freaks he had found in the cave didn't put up much of a fight, but their tendency to rise up again after being knocked unconscious amused him greatly; two battles for the price of one.
As he continued his rampage, his thoughts drifted back to his encounter with the fool called Commander Amazing. Eager to face one of the supposed heroes of Paragon, Ahreman answered Agonus' call as quickly as he could to join an impending brawl between the Supreme Society and members of a group known as the Justice Guard. When he arrived on the scene, however, to say he was extremely dismayed at what he found was an understatement; Amazing had brought women to the fight! Growling at the memory and in need of something to hit, he turned around to land a knockout blow to a Freak Swiper that was futilely attempting to cut through his magically toughened skin.
WOMEN! Bah! What sort of coward brings females to a fight?! Another burst of red lightning sent a Freak Slammer careening into the wall of the cave with a muffled scream.
In his day, such a thing was unheard of! A man fought his own battles and left the weaker sex to tend to the home! And to think that constable (and a female constable no less! Were the men of this age truly so weak to let females take such a position!?) who was with Amazing dared to follow him through the Pocket Dimension club and demand a fight! HA! Such a thing would never happen! Women were unworthy of facing his full power! The fool girl should consider it an honor to be killed in the wake of destruction during one of his true battles!
Still seething with rage, Ahreman briefly smirked when he finally found the leader of the Freak contingent in the cave. This one should put up a more of a fight than his minions. Charging into the fray, in the back of his mind, Ahreman began to think of the most entertaining ways to break Commander Amazing and his Justice Guard. -

Outside of the moreexspessNAO! sugar rushed mission teams, some of us aren't in a such a hurry to get from one place to another. -

The best reason is that some of us aren't number crunching bean counters when it comes to the game and like to play it, not over analyze it. ...

There's nothing "psychic" about Empathy or Pain Domination, you're actually physically healing your targets, not just making them think they're better.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pain Domination is entirely based on mental control. You don't actually 'heal' anyone, you just make them ignore any pain they might be feeling.
Kind of like how someone hopped up on PcP can demonstrate feats of 'invulnerability'.
Which is why it's a villainous powerset.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's really how it's supposed to work?! That's actually -perfect- for one of my characters. Sort of brings up the whole Darkman dilemma that if you don't feel pain, you can't tell when you're dying, but still, that explanation works great for me. -

I discourage people in my VG from RPing godmodey connections to name high level NPCs, for a lot of the reasons you mention.
Saying you're an ex-Hellion, I have no problem with that. Saying you have a rivalry with Von Grun, I can live with that. Saying you have tea with Nemesis? Yeeeaaah... not going to take you "seriously" there.

You know count's always made jokes about watching rugby and horse racing with nemesis right? gonna make the poor man cry.

I wouldn't really call his comments on his meetings jokes. Our responses, yeah, those are jokes though. -

Links please? You mean like strike a pose, flash, new costume? -
Talons/Mako Claws or whatever you want to call them as an option for the Claws power.
More bestial options. Namely a wolf tail. -
((Just a reminder that the Supreme Society and Teen Tyrants will be holding an open recruitment/Q&A/challenge near the abandoned labs in Port Oakes this Wednesday night (7/22) starting at around 10PMish, EST.
C'mon by if you're curious and see what the groups are about, or if you're one of those "World domination?! Those guys?! Not if I/we can help it!" types, try and stop us! Fun for everyone!)) -

As much as this is cool and all...
My main is a bots/traps MM
So I basically got the shaft on the whole customization thing. Which is sad, because I really want custom bots.
[/ QUOTE ]
You got customizable weapons first. =-p
Time to dust off some of your alts. I know you wanna do eet. -
Never got a Scrapper past 9, I think.
The powers don't strilke me as superheroy. Fire Melee is all sorts of "eh" and superheroes with capes who fly don't kick, dangit. -

I wouldn't use it. I do know the layout of most maps, but I use the fog of war to show me where I've been. Remove that, and it'll be much harder to find that last hostage or glowie.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here. I like the Fog of War as a tool to show where you haven't gone yet. -
Would this be the thread to talk about Science Booster bugs in live? Can't seem to find any other applicable thread other than the main one on the main game forum.

I was wondering if there was a SG/VG that operated as a sort of Suicide Squad like entity.
For those of you who don't know, Suicide Squad is a DC comic book title where the "heroes" of the series are actually villains. The premise is that the US government would has some problem that they don't want other people to know they are involved with, so they hire the Super-villains to take care of the problem in an attack that they can deny involvement with. In return, the villains get a commuted sentance and pardon for any crimes committed while operating in the Suicide Squad.
I was wondering if there was a group like this on CoX or if there would be any interest in playing one either as an open group or a static team.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Supreme Society is a group of world domination minded super types, similar to the Secret Society of DC. While we don't follow a Suicide Squad theme, I'm sure we could work something out something entertaining with the concept, being a Lex Luthor to your Amanda Waller. Drop me a line @The New Black if your interested. -

Strange he'd do that on the RP server? :P

Did the same trolling thing in my New World Order thread. I imagine neither is the first either. Reported the guy. -

Just bought two of 'em.
Gotta admit this one feels a little liteweight. Not quite a full set's worth of costume pieces and it lacks a new power like Self Destruction and Mystic Fortune from the two previous boosters. The lack of a special power is where I think this booster will suffer the most, I know too many players who only picked up the previous boosters for those powers.
After a week or two has passed would one of the devs consider posting sales numbers for the three packs? Would love to see how they stack up against each other. If the specific numbers are something that they'd prefer to keep private how about just a sales ratio?
[/ QUOTE ]
The Wedding Pack was the the most lightweight "booster," imho, and actually the only one I don't have and won't get.
Self Destruct also pales in comparison to the useful of Mystic Fortune. Then again, I'm more than happy just to have the Super Tailor feature.
