Quote:If SO level enhancements were available from level 1, I wouldnt argue with it.Or, we could do like the low-level ToHit buff that scales down as you level.
Call it "Youthful Exuberance".
*shrug*
I guess I just don't find lowbie endurance that big of a problem, now that we have better tools to deal with it than we used to. Combining Inspires to create what we want (Although lowbies have fewer storage capacity for holding them), removing the End cost of Brawl and the reduction (to 50%!) of the base recharge of Rest.
In the lower levels I find myself Resting to gain HP almost as often as for End.
We have to have Endurance be a somewhat limited commodity. If we always had Endurance, no matter what we did, what would be the point of having a blue bar? Being constantly out of End, however, makes for Un-Fun.
Well, whatever makes folks happy, though.
Endurance, like Rest, is lacking/slow to recharge in the early game which, ironically, is when you need it most. You have niether the slots nor the SOs to effectively slot for end red. You also don't have the insp space to really keep the ammount of insps most sets need to function anywhere above 'resting every spawn' pre 20.
Which is exactly the case pre-20. Out of endurance nearly every mob. People keep bleating on about 'Your not slotting right' or 'Your doing it wrong' (paraphrased, but its damn close) when, really, what the hell else are people meant to do? I dont think anyone has ever asked for 'infinite endurance'. That would be silly and broken. What would be nice would be to not have such a horribly HUGE discrepancy between Pre-stamina and post-stamina.Quote:If we always had Endurance, no matter what we did, what would be the point of having a blue bar? Yes, we have IOs. Yes, people CAN make builds which dont need stamina. My empath defender is level 40 and doesnt have it, but she hasnt needed it. Possibly partially due to Vigilance, and Recovery Aura. I've never solo'd her to see how bad her end consumption is.
But having to resort to IOs just to avoid three 'wasted' power picks? Last time I checked, the game wasn't balanced around IOs. Nor should it be.
I just find it incredibly daft that pre 20, when arguably you have less powers and less stuff to run, when you should, logically, run out of endurance LESS, you run out of it more. It takes 3 power choices (1 for WP and Regen. The exception to the rule) to achieve 'normal' endurance recovery levels. Even then, endurance can still be an issue.
It is, however, three times the issue if you don't take Stamina. Which is, in my opinion, broken. So sue me. -
Pipe dream: Rapier animations and models in Broadsword set.
Unlikely to happen, sadly. It's incredibly hard to make any swordsman that doesnt look like a cleaver wielder or a pirrouteting ponce. Fencing and especially sabre fighting are much more nimble than broadsword fighting, but nowhere near as OTT florid (cool, yes, but not so great for more natural characters) as DB is. -
Quote:I've never actually fought Doc Vahz. At all. Ever, in the three years I've been playing. Why? Because I'm trying to get out of pre-22 like a bat outta hell. Which I think is a shame.Levels 6-20 feel like a chore to me because, if I want a travel power and stamina ASAP, then 5/8th of my power choices will be spent on boring utilitarian powers (yay... health) instead of sexy new attacks, controls, debuffs, etc. I've taken up using Ninja Run instead of a travel power which helps some but they're just not a lot of fun.
Add to it the Fed-Ex missions which make me want to just do police scanners rather than run three zones over to talk to someone and be sent three more zones over yonder. As a result, the early game mission arcs go largely unplayed by me which is kind of a shame. I haven't fought Dr. Vahz for years... -

Sounds good. Although the MM standard pistol looks less like this;

and more like this;

which is a Desert Eagle. -
Quote:True, but they don't get the satisfaction of tearing someone in half while cackling "Suurrrpriiiiisse!!", do they?Who says a Brute/Scrapper can't take the Concealment pool?

Now having dual hatchets as a DB unlockable would be a nice option.
And yes, more hatchet/cleaver models! -
Quote:Best choice you've ever made, IMO.How does the GeForce 260 and higher graphic cards look currently? I had someone tell me you can really see CoX's age with the newer cards on the market. I don't know if he was warning me not to get the current cards for the game and play Champions( Which Perfect Pain indirectly convinced me not to) or just blowing smoke.
Side note: I am sporting a Nvidia 9500 and see no major changes.
Took the time to download the CO trial version. Now life has an IOU for me with those hours on it -_-
If its better than a 9800 GT, then it will run well. Im running one of those atm, and it runs clean as a whistle, no lag, higest settings. And yes, it looks a tad dated..as it is now. Ultra mode? Game on, baby. -
My major complaint for a long time has, and will be until its changed a bit, been level 14-20. Endurance starts vanishing like rum around a sailor, and my accuracy goes out the window faster than Casannunda with an angry husband chasing him.
Which means being stuck fighting +0 x1 missions. Which means slower levelling. I play odd hours these days, thanks to the Uni nets firewall settings and my own workload. I have plenty of SGs. All of them are RP and, when people have been on a lot of the day, evening tends to be a bit more sedate. Which leaves me in the rut. -
I'd love to have had twin axes for DB (it is after all dual blades, not dual swords). Axe itself would be pretty cool. And any weapon, unless it's naturally far too clunky (chainsaw, missiles launcher, proper size pike) can be used as a stealth killing tool.
Was trying to recreate this guy;
from Full Metal Alchemist. T'be fair, Barry is more of a Brute/Scrapper, but he can be pretty sneaky when he wants to be. And he carves stuff up nice with those cleavers of his

Quote:Get to level 5. Go to Hollows blueside or Oakes Redside. Missions. More missions. Rinse, repeat.How does it take you 20+ hours to get 20 levels?

Those are the fastest easiest levels in the whole game.
If lucky Blueside, get a sewer team.
Whats this magic formula to get to 20 that damn fast, 'cos I want in.
We agree, Larker.Quote:The 1-20 grind sucks primarily because of no stamina.Some of the contacts are fun,but,seriously no stamina just kills it for low levels.
I'd rather be pl'd to 20 and avoid the pain that it is,actually this is really the only thing that really bothers me about this game is the reliance on almost every AT to get the fitness pool. -
Good stuff, Birdy. Well written.
And some of us at least get how it ties into GR. One of my characters will be walking the same sort of line, although without the little voice behind his eyes, heh. -

For me, on the most part, the game starts to really pick up at 22. Thats when I'm out of the 'stamina gulch', as I call level 14-20 and have SOs slotted, and can really start to get a better idea of just what the character is capable of. Unfortunately, I seem to be the odd-ball out of the forumites, many of whom keep saying 'Early levels go to fast' or 'You spend barely any time 1-20'.
Well, I dont know how they do it. What the secret little trick is. Or wether these people sleep. Because I can spend quite a long tim going from 1-20. Maybe Im just unlucky.
Part of it doesnt help being thoroughly sick of low level blueside content (where the majority of my current lowbies are atm). I hate the ammount of fedexes and hunts I get given. I despise being told to go see another contact, three freaking zones away. Once I hit 14 its usually not so bad. But then we hit Stamina Gulch. Where its not the movement thats the chore, but combat. Again, I seem to be 'Doing it Wrong', because the most vocal people never seem to have 'any endurance problems at all'.
/Rant
I like parts of the early game. But not as much as I enjoy the mid-late game. Im looking forward to the GR 1-20 content, and I hope that I was right in thinking that the brief mention of 'new low content' was actually tutorials and low levels incluced (i.e. I17 stuff, not GR, bar Praetorian tutorial, obviously) -
Side note; dont ever take AR into PvP.
Ever. Its not worth the pain you will endure. -
*tries to compare stats*

*Cerebral core explodes*
I suck with computers >< -
The Devs also said that making Kheldians unlock at 50 was a 'big mistake'. They only made VEATs unlock at 50 for equality sake.
-
Defenders buff/debuff more
Corrs shoot more. Or at least with slightly better numbers.
That wont change anytime soon. -
The good thing is you wont need to upgrade the card for a good while, if you splash out a bit now.
I would have loved to have cranked out on top-of-the-range stuff, but I really dont have that budget atm. So I went for the 9800 GT. Its letting me run on highest with no hitches at all (bar those caused by shite Uni net) So, myeah *shrug* -
Quote:Here's the internet you just wonWait, you play 36 characters? Regularly? None of them are just bad ideas or you don't like them? There's only one answer then....

I'll simplify it.
Any screaming fan-tard can write the most god-awful fan-slash fiction to do with anything. It's technically writing. It's, technically, a story.
It's also abaout as palatable as a jumbo turd burger washed down with cesspit juice.
And then you have people like Tolkien, Garth Nix, Rowling...gods damn its too early to be thinking...
And that is far removed from the 'writing' of the fan-fic masses as gold is from rusted tin.
There are ninety nine tricks in life. You can teach all of them. But even a master of the ninety nine tricks will be beaten by the novice who has the hundredth trick. And that trick cannot be taught.
That trick is talent. -
Quote:Stopped reading there.The debuffs are great yes yes. But It is annoying if your counting on it for a heal. If your the only one on your team with heals and they keep expecting you to save there lives...
CoX has no Healorz. If the team cant get that into their heads, they are, officially, 'Doing it Wrong.' -
Quote:EBs also get full range of powers. So do Bosses, for that matter. The only difference is EB-AV damage and health/etc scales.I wouldn't mind getting an AV Nemesis is the owner has "AV" set in the mission. Curtesy would dictate that he inform the team that they may run into him in mish as an AV. If we follow the AE criteria, AV would be the only way for your nemesis to have access to his full range of powers (IIRC).
I say for balance sake; if it was to be implemented as a random spawn, running into an AV halfway through an arc or something would kinda through out any sort of plan. Not that thats a bad thing, but a tad too much. If you run into, say, a Ballista halfway through an arc, thats fairly standard (if nasty) fare. A random AV would be a whole different ballgame, especially with some of the sets they have acess too.
Either that, or lock them into being a certain AT. That way you dont get any Dark/Kin AVs, or some of the more broken combinations. All at player level stats and more, remember. -
Animator I could fill if;
1) I could time-travel to when I finish my Uni course, with all that knowledge.
2) I lived in the US
Concept art I can do. Lead Concept? Sadly, probably not. -
