I've dyed my hair all sorts of colors.
It's faded to a brown-blonde now, and likely will stay that way for a long time if my grandparents are any indication. And my mum. She's 50ish and still a brunette. -
>_> When has dom sets being melee-heavy been a bad thing, necessarily?
I think it's as good attempt as anyone else's, honestly, and as I said.. I'd play it.
I was merely suggesting alternate powers that I came across that would be really easy to port (already existing in game and often already with animation sequences). :3 -

Stealth and Maneuvers provide different benefits depending on what AT you're actually playing; The value Stealth gives you is cut in half when you attack, and for 10 seconds after you stop (though I think aggro still plays in with this; if it does, then it comes back up 10 seconds after the last time you were attacked, or you attacked something else).
For a Blaster, Stealth provides 3.5% defense (1.75% while attacking), and Maneuvers provides 2.28%. For a Defender, these values are 5% (2.5% suppressed) and 3.5%. And so on. -

Pibb is good. I prefer Dr Pepper, but I'll grab a Pibb from time to time.

I must agree wholeheartedly with this comment as it is written, though I feel the further need to state that I infrequently discriminate between flavors of soda, and typically go with what ze gut wants that particular day.
It tends to favor Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper, with the occasional Barq's. -

I think I may take a departure from the SRS this week.
I've been so busy being a Serious Sally, I've gone and serious'd myself right into a proper grump. And that ain't coo'.
So, heck with being logical and serious for a while. I'ma go play in the rain.
YAAAAY RAAAAIN! *Runs outside. Stares up at a clear, blue sky.* Gosh darnit. -
Awesome.

:/ I still fail to see where I'm taking things too personal when the only times I even engage in discourse over it (and even stated as such) are on the forums when the topic is brought up to be discussed. That's sort of a ridiculous assumption to make.
As is your constant belittling of other people. As I alluded to, I do believe that says more about yourself then it does anyone else, and I certainly find it faskinating. Though, ultimately, rather tiresome at this point because you keep making the same assertions over and over again, as if you don't have anything else to stand on.
Which is also somewhat disappointing, as previously stated I'd sort of been hoping for more actual discussion from your side of the argument, instead finding nothing but stubborn vitriol. I even addressed the 'similarities' portion of your argument in detail.
Your use of the word 'pertinacious' was fairly amusing, I'll have to say.
Still, since nothing further can be gained from this particular avenue of discussion (when one side refuses to listen to the points being made, it does often tend to result in nothing), I'll leave you to your beliefs. As, after all, they're yours, and if you're not open to even attempting to consider seriously the beliefs of others, what point is there in trying to make a point from an opposing point of view?
To state again: If you want to be ignorant about things, willfully, and refuse to change your beliefs for anyone, that's your perogative. If that's how you roll, so be it, mang. There's room enough in the world for all opinions and views, and certainly room enough in-game. -

[/ QUOTE ]
Only "kind of" sexy? How do you find anyone attractive if they're incapable of actually challenging you mentally? That's one of the reasons why I've only dated nerdy girls. No other girls can keep up.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's plenty of qualifiers that go into the term sexy, of which intellectual prowess is but a small part. Because while I may find the mind of another enticing, there does exist the rest of the package that may prevent it from being more then a simple crush, or a hearty friendship.
Three out of five senses (Sight, Smell, Sound) need to be appeased in order to ensure that maximum comfort is retained while being in extended presence with said person. Not in any particular order, but they do need to at least be in 'Tolerable' range before any further relationship can hope to develop, at least insofar as romance goes. I can put up with a lot when it comes to just being friends, but if my heart is to be wooed, a C-grade is required in the three S's, though for obvious reasons a higher grade is always good.
Then there's personality - how much of the target's personality clashes with my own, and what sort of quirks that don't exactly clash but can be considered undesirable traits do they possess? How high maintenance is it to keep them generally happy and healthy? Are they at least capable of being independent beings, or are they completely co-dependent on someone else for a relationship? There's at least 10 categories here that need to have at least a B or higher in order to net my long-term affection, including 'intellectual capacity and potential'. And a few others that need at least a C.
S'why I just asked for coffee. -

There's also Stone Spears, an AoE attack from Earth Thorn Casters, and Fling Gravel from the minions of Igneous. Not sure of the details of them though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ahhh. Those, I had forgotten about.
...mostly because I don't run into the Igneous that often, and I'm usually more concerned with the things AROUND the Earth Thorn casters.
Nice catch. I'll have to poke around a bit and look at those more...
EDIT: Looks like Gravel is a straight-up Cone attack (just damage, no secondary component) and Stone Spears is a straight Ranged AoE (again, no secondary component). Gravel might be a better thing to put in over Fissure, but I'm not an expert on set design. -
They lost that change when the new Crit stuff went in, Sam.
You have a higher chance to crit out of hide, that goes higher up the more friendly people that are close to you, and a chance to fire off an AoE Fear when you achieve an AS.
To compensate, Stalkers no longer crit off of mez'd opponents.
EDIT: Adjusted to try and make it more clear that you need players on your team close to you to grant a +Crit bonus, and not just anyone period. << That was a bit silly of me, and I apologize. -
Very nice. Excellent use of colors, and a very strong pose. :3

...Two awesome entries! Alex really captured the feel of the original (and in a fairly amusing way), and Shia just... outright slew me with that piece. It's adoreable.
I may have to bust out the dice this month to make a decision... -
I've noticed that if you switch orders on pets every now and then, they'll bug out and just kind of stare at you blankly no matter what you've told them to do. Not for long, but for a few seconds at least.
This is usually only after you change their orders in-combat, though; If you give them a direct order to attack something before combat starts (as the first thing you do, for example) and they're still not doing anything, that may well be a bug. I'd document and report. -
Instead of 'Hurl Boulder', how about 'Propel Boulder' from the Legacy Chain? <.< It's pretty much the same thing, though IIRC they animate it slightly faster then the player version of Propel. Might be a bit more thematic, I'd think.
Also not sure we'd get Fissue (a targetted AoE with some control) that early, but as I don't have anything better to suggest, s'all good. I'd play it, that's for sure! -
Mind/* sort of makes up where */Psi lacks early on.
Unlike Psi, Mind blooms early (which will smooth things out a bit). Pick up Mesmerize and Dominate as soon as possible (Rikti Mentalists and Mesmerists have both!), and while it may be out of concept (Your choice), Levitate is also a great power to pick up. Lean heavily on the Primary early on, and you can solo with pretty well just that and Psi Dart for damage.
Mental Blast and Psychic Scream would be more 'thematic' choices if you really want them (as Anchorites/Pariahs/Rectors have Psy Scream and again, those wacky Rikti have Mental Blast), but that's totally on you. The damage is less then stellar. You can really rock the 'Can't Touch This!' aspect with Mind/Psi until you pick up Drain Psyche and PSW, but by then you should hopefully have Confuse (even if it breaks concept - it's worth it) and Mass Hypnosis to make it even easier to get into range safely.
To sum up: It's a fairly well synergized combination, and you should do fine. Especially when the damage buffs go through.
EDIT: Though, yeah, you're gonna outright loathe robots and Fortunata/Widows. Rikti are surprisingly not as resilient until you hit the Mentalists/Mesmerists, and even they're not as bad as the above mentioned. Zombies may prove hazardous to your health, too. -

There are no instances of powers being duplicated within an Archetype (outside of VEATs, which are a special case).
So Hibernate would -have- to be replaced.

They try to avoid redundancy when possible. I mean, otherwise, they wouldn't have changed Dark Armor the way they did (specifically the addition of Shadow Dweller). It's just a good policy, yanno?
EDIT: And I'm still not sure why you're so faskinated with Hibernate being in Ice Armor for Stalkers, when they can get it no matter what their secondary is 6 levels later with just one extra power choice (Spirit Shark or Water Spout). :/ You can slot it just the same at 44 as you can at 38. -

Elec/Storm can be brutal, especially at Elite Boss (or is she an Archvillain, and would've scaled down to it?) levels.
When you first face her as a Boss, she's nothing special, but in the time between then and the next time, she takes a level in badass. :/

With that out of the way, please. Do get any further negativity out of your system, and try to debate like a thoughtful, mature person. I can't guarantee I'll do the same, but I certainly find pretend fun enough to give it a shot if you will. :3
[/ QUOTE ]
I get it, you come on the boards and debate, thats fine, but I use some retrospect, especially when it comes to discussing something so trivial. If you took it too personally then, hey thats how you feel. On the topic on maturity, well you really arent winning an award for "most mature poster" on an MMO board, it just aint gonna happen. What you can look forward to is atleast, some decent posts. In the end where all here to discuss semantics, honestly I missed the days people actually PLAYED the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do play the game. This is just what I do when I'm working on other things and need a momentary distraction in order to provide some bit of insight into my current project or focus. I'm ADD; That doesn't mean I'm not intelligent, but I tend to be fueled entirely by two things: Interest and Distraction. The more I have of one or the other, the better I get at doing something. Of course, that latter comes with a bleed point where I can't quite focus enough on one thing, but I'm getting better at balancing it.
I also don't recall exactly where I stated I was mature - Infact, I do believe I stated the opposite in that I'm not very mature at all, but when the situation demands I can engage in an intelligent, mature discourse without (usually) resorting to any jabs as to my opponent's personal wellbeing (or the wellbeing of the people they represent). Because I like debates. I like discussions. Even about the silliest things imaginable, because it all shows you so much about the person in question. It's all examinations of logic, and can lead to insights about other subjects that aren't even related (the infamous tangent).
You personally find the term trivial - I agree, honestly, as like many other ridiculous, blanket terms that make it into the English language, it's often misused, mangled, and thrown down as a profound exclamation far more often then it should be. And that's sort of my issue with the term as it is: People abuse the hell out of it, they throw it around in a meaningless fashion, and then they get upset when people misinterpret what they meant, or they themselves take it far more seriously then it needs to be taken. It's a word. It's also a word that, in the MMO community, describes a stereotype of player behavior. And that's the thing I'm most interested in discussing - a negative stereotype that may not be wholly deserved because people are dragging it over from other games where it was a positive stereotype, into a game with a wildly different system.
Healing may be necessary and extremely beneficial in games set up in a traditional MMO fashion, but for the most part, City Of * isn't set up in a traditional fashion. And this is entirely on purpose, as the game is modeled after another tabletop game (Hero System - Specifically Champions) where Healing was just as unimportant for the most part, while still being a useful power to have for those emergency situations. This is contrary to other games that have lent their gaming model (Warhammer Fantasy, Dungeons & Dragons, and so on) that was built up on what we can call the Tank & Spank (Tank, Healer, DPSx2) four player format that in other games has evolved up into the 5 or 6 player format (Everquest, World of Warcraft, Warhammer: AoR, most Korean Microtransaction MMOs) of requiring the same. However, much like Hero System... Co* doesn't require a healer. A group of heroes can do fine as long as their individual mitigation techniques are solid, which may or may not include a heal at all. And if it does, the individual hero can supply his own heal that's sufficient for most combat situations without relying on someone else. It all depends on how the player decides they want to set up their character, and with Power Pools so readily available, that can happen in Co* as well.
It's two wildly different systems, and because of people trying to apply one big generic system to MMOs in general without consideration of the system put in place by the designers (in effect trying to pigeonhole and stereotype anyone that's ever played an MMO ever, much like people used to do to people that played tabletop games back in the 70's and 80's), it leads to a plethora of misconceptions and hurt feelings that brings us to the problem we have today of nobody being able to decide on what 'Healer' means, and whether it's a good or bad thing.
The use of the term is inaccurate when applied to Co* archetypes, and it's shortsighted when applied to MMOs in general. Other then that, what the hell do I care what you call someone? If you want to be ignorant about things, willfully, and refuse to change your beliefs for anyone, that's your perogative. As long as your ignorance doesn't bring down the team's total efficiency when I'm in charge, because the second that starts to seriously impact everyone else's ability to have fun, you're gone. I don't care about individuals when I'm in charge. I care about the team, and I'll work towards maximizing efficiency with whoever I can get, without cherry picking because of silly things like what people want to stupidly call themselves. If you find yourself God's Gift to Teaming, however, and can't back it up, to the point everyone else is getting tired of your self-important preening? Boot. Just generally failing like it's your job? Boot. There's nothing complicated about it.
But that won't stop me from engaging in a discussion about the topic, and explaining my views as to why I feel it's both inaccurate, and short-sighted. Because it is. It doesn't even begin to describe what any AT brings to the table, except one tool in the box that isn't even all that special. -
I should probably trial it again. Or see if my offer to re-up for 10 days gratis is still valid.
Then again, I'm also cheating on Co* with... with...
EVE Online.
I like'em nerdy.
