Mind 'n Matter, who's usually restricted to loincloths and fairy-bits for his costumes, got a power suit, too, inspired by the Vanguard belt.
-
I was absolutely dying for the Vanguard belt piece... Once I got it, I designed a whole costume around it, lol! This is Defiant Gal's tech suit:

Quote:Absolutely beautiful costume. And fantastic layout, too! You've got an eye for great designHere's my take on the concept:
She's just a low-bee, so you can't see her willpower toggles in action yet. But I recolored them in a mix of bright yellows, dun, amber and deep ruddy browns, alternating between both bright and dark WP. (Counterintuitively, I set darker tones on bright WP and lighter tones on dark WP.) In the character testing this gave her a nice shimmering honey colored glaze that wasn't too obtrusive. Give it a shot if you like.
I actually enjoy her look so much that I *may* need to steal this concept for myself! -
Sorry for the low quality graphics
Here's Tumblebee (accidentally misspelled it Rumblebee before :3)
-
I can't get to the servers right now cuz of the maintenance, but I'll post Rumblebee when I get home tonight.. Though a human and not an insect, maybe it'll give you some ideas. For the record though, I personally think the Sinister w/ Plate gloves work really well for insects--the plates look like stylized beetles themselves.

I normally just lurk the forums rather than posting, but I'd like to participate in this, if possible. I'm not completely sure I can make it, but maybe if I could get pencilled in? I'd be bringing my Stalker, Undercover Porcupine
-
What if you made the background one big card, like GG was part of the card as the Joker or something? It could look cool with some of that GIF transparency too because the corners would be more rounded like a card than the 90 degrees of a normal background.
-
This is really sweet, both of you! Junior those pencils were pretty rockin', and PowerStream, great job on those lines! I think it's really great that you guys can do something like this together
Now, Junior... MOAR ARTZ! -
-
Hi, DB! Great stuff here, it's always a treat to see your art. I think the colors on that piece above really make it pop, but of course it wouldn't be much help without your awesome lineart! And I love that plushie of Dragonberry, haha, too cute!
-
I have no doubt Fire/Dark would be fun, and I'm still really interested in trying it out, but just for discussion's sake, does anyone know anything about Fire/Sonic? I feel like the -Res on the Sonic debuffs would work really well with the already high damage of Fire.
-
Thanks a lot for all the feedback guys! I rolled an Energy/Energy Blaster last night, and I'm going to try and focus on just taking the ranged attacks. Maybe 2 or 3 melee KB attacks just so I can *keep* those pests at range, lol. I've also heard great things about Fire/ corruptors, and I've never even played a Fire powerset, so I think I'll have to check that one out too. I've never gotten a villain past 25, either, so maybe a Fire/ Corr's the one to do it with. Thanks for the ideas, everyone, I appreciate it

Im looking for some guidance here. My two over-40s are a BS/Invul Scrapper and a Illus/Rad Scraptroller, and my up-and-coming is an Elec/SD Scrapper. In a recent push to try and get to50 much too quickly for my playstyle, I've gotten a little burnt out with melee fighting. So to take a little break, I'm looking for a combo that can still contribute heavily to damage but can do so from range. The blaster seems like the obvious choice but I don't like the seeming pointlessness of the secondary sets for a ranged build (maybe I'm just missing something, though). So I'm looking for a ranged combo that can deal good damage (either ST or AoE, doesn't matter) and, most importantly, someone who will hold my interest *while* I level, not just at level 50. Any feedback or ideas would be really appreciated.. thanks

Quote:*Whimpers and crawls into a back alley*Anyway mostly I just wanted to give a shout out to the people I remember here, most definitely: Christopher Robin, VexXxa, Caemgen, Darth Delicious, Battlewraith and Ironik.
All right, I see how it is! D: Hah, but seriously, good to see some of your work again, man, and I'll definitely be checking out your blog more.
Also, love the new Ultimo Girl piece--the wrinkles on her tights are a nice touch and very realistic -
This is a great idea!! I've often not deleted level 1-5 alts just because I'm in love with their costume... I'll have to post some of the ones that've been sitting on the shelf!
-
Quote:Yeah, yeah, yeah... But that would require actual *effort* on my part to get legitimate paper lol! I have a couple lighter sketchbooks I might be able to fit into my backpack--I'll see what I can do haha. You really aught to try some thicker paper with no lines for your art.
For the meantime, though, a little Photoshopping will get rid of those pesky lines:
R-Tech's The Underdog! -
Reminds me of a movie soundtrack! You've got some serious skill, Hellstorm! Thanks for sharing this

Though not specifically City of Heroes related, here's a profile I sketched of a troll... Reminds me a little bit of Hugo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
I see that people might be a little more interested in this thread if some free art is involved, so there might be some stuff coming up. I'm not taking queues or making any promises, but I'll be lurking around for characters I like. -
I found three Electric Armor guides for Brutes just by doing a quick Google search. I feel that Brutes and Scrappers would play pretty similarly from a defensive standpoint, but just keep in mind that these guides are not necessarily geared towards Scrappers, and might have suggestions for building Fury, which is a moot point for Scrappers.
Electric Armor Guide v1.1 (Speqter)
The Voltic Beast - A Guide to Electric Armor for Brutes (Nalrok_AthZim)
Electric/Electric Brute Guide (Nemo Utopia) (Link takes you offsite to Coldfront.net) -
Now if only I could program my computer to start launching City of Heroes around 12:00 so it's ready for me when I get home from school :P

Quote:Updated the main list with Memphis_Bill's guide to Fiery Aura (geared towards Tankers, but is relevant for Scrappers as well), Plasmic's Guide to Regeneration, a Dual Blades Bind guide, a BS/SR guide by TwilightPhoenix, and Stone Daemon's Dark/Fire/Soul guide... I couldn't find any guides from a Google search for Elec/ or KinMelee/ unfortunately. Also updated the Last Updated By date.

Very nice, Prim, very, very nice! I noticed that especially on the Concept render, the sleeves and the fabric look very natural.. You did a good job of keeping the pose simple but not making her look plastic. And of course the Action render is very sweet too, nice dynamics
