    Damnation!

I think he must want to be captured.
Hardly surprising, spending most of his time standing on a boat in a bland, crime-ridden city surrounded by hideous, ineffectual forcefields. All the while ordering around his incompetent, gullible pet heroes. Stroking their egos and convincing them they have free will.

I bet he yearns for each and every day Emperor Cole comes-a-callin'.

We don't have that problem. At least, as far as I know. Nobody as yet plucked up the courage to sue me.

    So.

    Heroes.

    How's the Boomtown reconstruction going?
No? Nothing? Not even a little?
Only asking since, well, it has been seven years now. And there are, you know, thousands of you. Just in that one city. Thought you might have been helping sort that little mess out.

Still, I'm sure you'll have cleared out Astoria by now. Got rid of all those nasty possessed corpses and such. Brought back the inhabitants.....no? Still the same? Ah.

In any case, I bet you wiped out that insidious Devouring Earth infestation of Woodvale...sorry...'Eden' long ago, right? Right?

Huh. Um, Eastgate? No? Still crater-esque?

Perez! Probably full of happy families enjoying the wonders of nature, elderly people playing chess, childr.....no change at all?

Hmmmm. Faultline? Oh? Some progress? Well done!
Yes, with those quaint little buildings and giant novelty doughnut you hardly even notice that huge, deep, chasm.

Never mind. I'm sure everything will get better. Eventually.

    Pffft!
For the record, we make Arachnos our *****, as we do with Longbow. What's your relationship with Longbow? Or the PPD and Legacy Chain for that matter?
"Yes, sir! No, sir! Right away, sir! Thank you, sir!"

Oh, and your radar is weak and disfunctional, please keep it that way. ^__^
  7. An intelligent, attractive and individualistic lady is far, far more likely to be a villainess than a heroine.

    Red side wins again. ^_^

Urgh, I felt so dirty after that mission. Had to massacre the hapless inhabitants of Agincourt a few times just to get over it. ¬_¬
  9. Shoulders, gloves and boots from the Justice set. I can't stop using them.
  10. I think it is worth remembering that City of Villains not only gave us a series of beautifully-realised new zones, storylines and enemy groups, but also five new archetypes.
This would have been a huge undertaking just for balancing alone, not to mention integrating the mechanics.

Going Rogue has no new archetypes (as far as we know.) This leaves the door wide open for plot-based content and I for one think this expansion will be very satisfying in that respect.

I'm really looking forward to it. ^_^

While I myself am English, my grandfather was a MacLeod (though sadly on my mother's side so I'm stuck with an adjective for a surname .) Scotland is so wonderful, I wish I could visit more often, or even live there.

My ancestry is also the inspiration for my online name. ^_^

    CoH vs. HL2?

For me, a much stronger tie between HL2 and CoV became apparent as soon as I ventured into Mercy Island. The sleek, almost alien, Arachnos fortifications imposed on the aging architecture immediately put me in mind of the Combine's assimilation of 'City 17.'

And surely I wasn't the only one to think of a certain crowbar-wielding scientist when they saw Dr. Aeon for the first time?

In any case, most of these similarities are superficial. The Council/Arachnos and the Combine have much more fundamental qualities that set them apart. All are excellently conceived (though Arachnos is best ^___^.)
  14. I also have a query regarding the Devouring Earth.

Specifically, has anyone ever been restored after being 'Devoured?'

I started wondering about this recently when I played a number of DE-related missions and I felt rather sorry for people like Tanya Tyler and Pyriss (I found the latter particularly unnerving since it reminded me of Princess Jelanda's fate in Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth *shudder*.)

We seem to be developing a solution to the Lost, so, maybe these unfortunate individuals could be next?

  16. I'd love to see a really intense lightning storm whip up over the Rogue Isles.

No need for rain or over-the-top particle effects. Just the dark, tumultuous clouds of the Rikti invasions done in dark grey with the occasional flash of ambient light and appropriate sfx. Maybe some howling winds for good measure. ^_^
  17. I am somewhat surprised at the decision to make the Magic Bolero and Wings incompatible.
Removing the cape option I can understand. However the Wedding Tux (while being much less complex) is practically identical construction-wise and I combine it with wings on my Scrapper.

I wonder if it is simply a case of 'all or nothing' with the back options?

I have heard the name on a few occasions. If it costs nothing but time, I think it's worth a look. ^_^
  19. Badges for defeating Wyvern and Legacy Chain are a must IMO.

We villains demand recognition for our efforts in putting these pompous do-gooders in their places. ^__^
  20. I was in that mission yesterday and noticed that line. Made me laugh partly from the actual humour, but mainly from the fact I'd never seen anything quite like it from an NPC. ^_^

I'm so glad Cryptic like to do things like that. These little comedy moments are what made me love Asheron's Call so much all those years ago. City of X seems to be the only MMO that comes close to that lighthearted feeling.

  25. Today I learned that the Rikti have somehow probed my mind and discovered that I just need to destroy UXBs to get the Rikti sword.

Which is why they evacuate whatever zone they are attacking as soon as I enter.

    I am not paranoid.
