This. If it can be done with a hard mask that doesn't pancaking move in V for Vendetta, it can be done with Spider-Man's cloth mask. Also, bigger eyes plz. =-p

Peter going from a magic markered sweat-suit to a full-on painstakingly detailed lycra costume bugged me to no pancaking end in the Raimi movies.

So that's a StJ/Shield Scrapper, DP/Dev Blaster, Inv/Mace Tank, TA/Arch Defender, SS/Regen Brute, and... whatever Iron Man translates to. (NRG/NRG Blaster?)

    New Dredd images

Helmet's awfully big, but they do seem to be going for an almost practical (and a lot more toned down) look to the Judges.
  5. I need to see the Hulk in action next to non-CGI, as that's where the whole suspension thing broke down for me in the last 2 movies.

That aside, I really hope there's more to the villains than mobs of generic aliens or Asgardian canon fodder. Hiddleston is great as Loki, but I've never really liked the character to begin with. Need moar plot spoilers, I guess.

Because North American comic book art is so realistic, right? Perennial cover artists like, say, Adam Hughes, Ed Benes, Paul Renaud and J Scott Campbell must be so popular because of all the ugly/old/overweight female characters they always draw.

Dunno who's joking and who isn't, but I've read interviews from various artists where they've mentioned going to strip clubs for "research."
  9. Crimson Corsair for me, but that's a big maybe. It was only a matter of time for DC to finally get this off the ground though. Last I knew, the Watchmen trade was still a consistent high seller, but save for Rorschach and Nite Owl, I doubt this will do any better than say, Stan Lee's reimagining of DC.
  10. I'm impressed. All this wh--, talk about costumes, and no one's mentioned Jim Lee's infamous Huntress redesign.

Even though she's powerless, she wants to show off her abs while fighting street level crime.

If I was that powerful and that ripped, I'd probably run around in as little as possible too.
Dr Manhattan's an interesting example, in that he had a normal, thin-ish build before his accident. Then he reforms himself into the statuesque musclebound blue skinned man. (I don't remember the in-story explanation, if there was one.) He wears a costume at first, but starts wearing less clothing as he gets more out of touch with humanity. But even when he's fully nude and by himself on Mars, he still keeps the musclebound physique.

Regardless, blame the circus. That's where they got the idea for the capes and tights superhero costumes in the first place.

Erm... but doesn't oni mean "demon" (or "ogre") too? Where's the "blade" aspect in Oni Kouma? Or would the translation not really work that way?

The overall theme I was aiming for with the name seems to be shot. But I'm curious now and thusly asking here, as you guys broke the translator sites I've been using.
  12. Interesting. So what does "kouma" mean in this context?

Please explain exactly what you wishing to have. There many term for Demon and there more of sword. It not of like English. You needing specify of what demon and of what type of sword, what is of context, and how you wishing of seen. Many demon of many form not like idea of Americas demon. It meaning sometime that of good or mischievous nature. Do you meaning evil? As for subtext of the, a, and of such this not existing in our language.

'' Devil Blade '' is of best to explained as Oni Kosaitou, maybe Oni Seiku, Oni Damu, Oni Baido, Oni Bakku, Jiin Asunatabe, Banijii, Oranashi, Oni Katana.

So many variation, as for of ''Romanji'' what is of context? What is purpose? What of speech?
The general idea behind "The Devil of Blades" is an evil man who is an expert with any kind of bladed weapon.
  14. I'm looking around for the Japanese for "The Devil of Blades." The idea is that it is meant as a title, but it gets mutated into a Westernized name by English speaking characters, and the character eventually starts using the Westernized version. I've been looking around on various online translators, but I can't seem to find a consistent answer. The closest I can find that I'm happy with "za tenma no touken" but that seems to be strictly translated to "the demon of swords." I know it's close, but I'm just checking my options here.

So as far as I can tell, "bure-zu" (or bure_zu, or bure^zu, or possibly even bure-du) is the Romaji for "blades." But, well, is that the only option? Seems like there's at least 5 different words for sword, and a few words for "swords," which is what's throwing me off that I can only find one word for blades.

This. Still no "talon" option for Claws to complete a werewolf, but I'd have bought a power that transforms you into a four legged canine in a heartbeat if it was a wolf form and not a coyote. But I also figured they could just add skins to the Rocket Board, rather than releasing an entirely new yet similarly themed travel power like Magic Carpet.

    But considering this...

This is just our first foray into the animal-ish travel powers. There's plenty of fertile ground for us to draw material from. Based on the success of the Coyote Travel power, it's fairly likely you'll see other incarnations.
I'll just wait for a wolf transformation.

As for Avengers vs X-men, it depends on why they're fighting . Either side has the power, ability, and skill to win. The reason for winning could be the main factor. Basically who want's it more
Some of the advertised pairings are interesting.
    Red Hulk vs Colossonaut
    Ms Marvel vs Namor
    Cyclops vs Captain America

And some of the pairings are head scratchers.
Iron Man vs Magneto? Even if it's IM in a non-metallic suit, still, poor Tony.
    Thor vs Storm? Really? o.0

Doesn't seem like Xavier's involved, but Frost should still be able to shut down most of the Avengers before they can do much of anything.

    Tights!

More basic pattern options for tights, please. Specifically more designs like the upper body pattern here. Something like Square Top without the loops on the biceps, or Sharp without the "Sharp" pattern on the arms.

And as for texture, how about adding in something like a button over flap option, sort of like this.

And count me in for full masks that stretch over the ears.

And speaking of masks, a white-eyes option would be all sorts of neat too. Like this.
  18. I enjoyed it, but I've also liked all the Underworld movies, as I think they're WoD done as good as you're going to get because all the crap's stripped away. It was a little... eh, well, it was -very- light on plot, and could have used another 20-30 minutes to flesh out the not-Viktor vampire father, his son, and the detective. But for a movie about a gorgeous woman in a vinyl catsuit fighting monsters, it works fine.

Scott Speedman was no loss either, really. And when you have a 12 year old monster girl who can tear apart werewolves with her bare hands, who needs Nightcrawler anyway?

And yeah, I get that the movie is style over substance, but I do think they went a liiittle overboard with Selene's everfull ammo pistols. So they showed her switching clips what, once? Twice? There was NO room on her outfit to store any clips anyway. On the other hand, I do like how she couldn't beat the the guy from Lost Girl (typecast as a shapeshifter?) head on and had to resort to trickery to beat the superwolf.

The talent's not spread thin. Liefeld will be on THREE DCnU books here shortly, aaannnddd in theory, all at the same time. That's just... an inexplicably bad creative and business decision on so many levels it's frightening.

You're thinking too narrowly. You could even ask what the last new character was that the Big 2 introduced that was successful. Which would probably be Deadpool, back in 1991. And really, he only "hit it big" in the last few years. The Big 2 have enough trouble introducing ANY new characters, let alone minority ones. One could probably argue that Marvel isn't even really trying to introduce new characters anymore, they're building themselves around Spider-Man, the X-Men and the Avengers. DC has Batman, but at least they're kinda sorta trying with books like Mister Terrific, Static Shock, Men of War, whatever the new Firestorm book is called, and the new Ray mini.

Are we talking par for the course comic sales drop-off? Like what's expected from 98% of the titles out there? Or something excessive? Two other things to note about Batman Inc were the fill-in artists and the delays on the issues.

  20. I was going for something similar a while back. but I was at an utter loss for a capes n' tights costume for a magically powered elemental based hero.

Anyway, I was aiming for a Tank. Last thing I had in mind was either

DM/SA for the more "defensive" version.
    Dark Melee recolored into Water
    Flight for Air
Stone Armor recolored for Earth and Ice/water
    Epics/Incarnate of choice for Fire.

    Or

FM/SA for the more offensive version.
Fire Melee recolored to keep the sword as fire, ST attacks as fire, and the AoE's as steam for Water.
    Flight for Air
Stone Armor recolored for Earth and Ice/Water
Which leaves whatever you want for Epics/Incarnate.
  21. When you go from VIP to premium, how are the characters you keep determined? The first ones listed on the server?

I have several extra Vet character slots on Virtue, and also paid for a couple, but at this point I have no idea what characters were created on original slots, vet slots, or paid ones.

And as a Premium player how much of what you've paid for do you keep? (character slots, costumes, powersets, GR, etc)

They didn't have a full stadiums worth of fans during filming. But 1:11 in the trailer doesn't look like a full stadium to you?

The Gotham Rogues logo also being a stylized headshot of the Shadow is a nice touch.

Sooo close (and so many NDA's), yet so far away. Still, it'll be amusing to finally see how, among other things, Heinz field was -meant- to look after the explosions.
