Question when VIP account goes Premium

My main account is VIP, and will stay that way for the foreseeable future.

I have an alternate account that was created as part of the "create a new VIP account for 99 cents" promotion from about three weeks ago. So at the moment it is a VIP account. It will lapse into Premium on the 28th of December.

The account has 1 reward merit (just like a Free account would), so it's at reward tier 1.

I have a character on the account that is part of a Supergroup, and has 200 million influence. He's in supergroup mode.

Okay, that's the setup. Here's the question(s):

When that particular account goes back to Premium, since it'll (apparently) still be Tier 1 (unless I get a second reward token on the 28th or something):

What will happen to my supergroup membership? Will the character be removed from the supergroup? Will he stay in the group, but be unable to access a base? Will he be forced out of supergroup mode (or will he be totally unable to change his setting - i.e. if he's in SG mode will he be forced to stay that way)?

What happens to his influence (the cap for Tier 1 is 25 million)? Will 175 million influence just evaporate into thin air? Will he get to keep his influence, but won't be able to earn more until he goes below 25 million?

Also, while I suspect the following, if I'm wrong, can anyone set me straight?

He's got 90 reward merits. I assume I won't lose those, and I assume I can spend them normally (which includes 'buying' random large inspirations, even though they won't drop from enemies any more).

I assume I'll keep whatever salvage I've got, along with recipes. I assume I can still build anything I've got the salvage for ... although, depending on the circumstances I won't be able to use it (e.g. I could build an IO if I actually happened to have the recipe and the salvage, but if I slotted it in, it would have no effect on my character).

Although I won't be able to add stuff to the market, I assume anything I've got there will stay there - and I can claim or pull stuff off the market, I just can't add anything new (e.g. 'change' a bid, etc.)

You should get a second reward token when your VIP time expires.

Even if you don't get a second reward token, you will continue to stay in the supergroup - I don't think you'll be able to use the sg base or the sg chat channel, but you'll still be able to earn prestige.

You will keep your influence on hand, you just won't earn any more until you are down below your cap.

You won't lose your reward merits, and you can use them to purchase things, but anything to do with the invention system (anything other than insps and standard enhancements) will be worthless to you because you can't do anything with them. You can't craft anything, you can't slot anything, and any IOs you have already slotted will become nonfunctional (for enhancement value AND set bonuses).

Stuff on the market won't disappear but no, you won't be able to pull stuff out - you cannot access the market contacts.

When you go from VIP to premium, how are the characters you keep determined? The first ones listed on the server?

I have several extra Vet character slots on Virtue, and also paid for a couple, but at this point I have no idea what characters were created on original slots, vet slots, or paid ones.

And as a Premium player how much of what you've paid for do you keep? (character slots, costumes, powersets, GR, etc)

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

You should keep everything you paid for. If you paid for GR, you'll still have it. Costumes that you paid for, you keep. Same with power sets. Free (Premium) accounts get two slots that you can assign to any slot on any server, with a character or empty.

I think the wiki does a pretty good job of explaining what goes with each tier of each reward. It should tell you what you get, although you might have to read what the higher tiers get so you understand what the lower tiers are missing.

This isn't entirely correct.

I have two accounts. Both are currently Premium and are high enough tier to earn and use Reward Merits. One is high enough Tier to have an IO license, the other is not.

On my second account, I cannot use Reward Merits to purchase anything related to the invention system - Recipes, Recipe rolls and salvage are all unavailable with a message that I must have an IO Liscense or be a VIP subscriber to purchase this item.

If you purchase Inspirations with Merits, they will be downgraded to the largest type you are eligible for - On one of my accounts "Large Inspiration" purchases are downgraged to mediums, on the other they're downgraded to small. There is no warning about the downgrade, and they still cost full price. The only way for a Premium player to get larger inspirations than their cap is to have them gifted, or to purchase from the Consignment House (or buy dual or team insps from the Paragon Market).

However, this may all be moot - I don't think that a player without the ability to earn Reward Merits can spend them either, though I don't have the means to test that specific part.

Thanks for the info folks! Very useful to help me prepare for the switch from VIP to Premium on my alternate accounts.

The duals retaining their original size makes sense - you paid for them. I'm a bit disappointed to hear that the insp. you buy with reward merits will downgrade; in a sense, the fact you have reward merits is because you *paid* for the right to have them, so they really shouldn't loose buying power based on when you choose to spend them.

They should add a note.

Or just not allow you to purchase Insp that you aren't able to use.

Oh, you can use inspirations larger than your tier allows. You just can't earn them yourself. If you are awarded one (by Merit Roll, [Inner Inspiration], or just a regular drop), it's downgraded to the biggest you can use. But if, for example, someone gifts me a large insp, I still have a large insp that I can use for the same effect that you can.

Your invention salvage capacity, recipe capacity and vault storage will all be reduced - roughly cut in half. If you buy a WW license, your transactions allowed will also be roughly cut in half.

You won't lose anything you are carrying, but you can't pick up anything new until you are below the new limit.

Just a question since I have a second account that will go premium, is the influence cap at 25 no matter if you are fully decked out tier 7 (27 tokens)?

Tier 1 (1 token) 25 Million cap
Tier 2 (2 tokens) 500 Million cap
Tier 3 (5 tokens) 1 Billion cap
Tier 4 (8 tokens) 2 Billion cap (max)

So the answer to your question is no, you are not stuck at a 25 million influence cap if that account has 27 tokens.
