Sadly, it's working as intended.
To every scissor, there shall be a rock admist the paper to keep you on your toes and provide a significant increase in challenge.
I feel you, though, mang. :/ It's just something that's horribly unlikely to change. -
Raaawr. *Flumps across the FoC, and streeeetches.*
Oi. Been sick-ish the past two days, and have had my ability to think creatively sapped pretty hard. But, on the bright side, I've stuck to my guns about not engaging in soap-box discussions on t3h forums. And am a bit happier for it.
...barring, yanno. Being sick. -
I always salute endeavors like this, because of how hard it is to consistently do something every day.
o7 Good luck, Electagonist! And you're off to a fine start, I'd say. -
Does nots account for t3h poor workin' girl what pulls graveyard shift.
If I wake up before 8pm, I'll be hurtin'! -
Aw, man. I totally feel bad that I forgot about Milk's piece, despite having thought it was very charming.
I feel such a cad. ;_; -
I should probably start ACTUALLY playing. >> Darn wishy-washyness.

What's SO mean again? I never understood that. Bf and gf work just as well but I've seen that term tossed around a few times.

Significant Other. Really, it's just what I'm used to referring to her as. >> Dunno why, really. -
Fair enough call there, except I'm really hard to really 'hurt'. Irritate or annoy, sure, but I let that stuff just roll off me for the most part.

Curious to hear about Cancer, honestly.
...I'ma crab. Pinchy-pinchy! :3 -
No tail exercises, just back and shoulders. I've been doing mostly aerobic stuff in my exercise, and haven't done anything to really work my back/shoulders so much as just burn energy.
Been having a lot of back/shoulder related problems lately, and with a week's advance notice of moving furniture... decided I should probably switch focuses for a bit instead. -

...so what IS on test right now?

Issue 15? Castle never stated that dom-buffs were going into i15, and I think he specifically said it would probably be up for testing shortly after it went live. -

Repetition, as with everything in life, is unavoidable and in many cases, desired. Games are no exception, and anyone should expect some measure of redundancy from them.
However, there are various degrees of repetition. Pushing 1-2 keys for hours and hours does get really old for me quite fast. Having a pool of 10-15 keys that must be pressed according to varying factors, with different degrees of success and efficiency, now that's completely different.
In this sense, "grinding" is not a choice. I grind words every day (translator), I grind my cooking, I grind my commuting. Likewise, I grind my games, but I do so following the standard I wrote about above.
If it pleases the mind, grinding is a healthy activity like any other. Grinding for obsession/compulsion is a different story. So, I think that everyone must draw their own line. I cannot play most Korean MMOs because I find them too shallow and with few options/strategies/rewards for the time I spent on them (with a few notable exceptions). Games like CoX, Warhammer LotRO, and Age of Conan are much more involved, provide story (should you wish one), and reward your approach to things, each in its own way.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with this statement, with a few minor additions.
I don't actually mind a grind, as long as there is a social experience going on at the same time and it's not entirely about getting to a certain point, but just something to do with people I enjoy talking to, or new people I'm getting to know. I've played KGGs (Korean Grindfest Games) with some of my best friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't exactly mind 'farming' (as it relates to CoH) as long as I have someone to chat with, but I much prefer something with an actual progression that makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere even if I'm not.
It's the social aspect of the game that I like the most. Everything, to me, is secondary compared to the social aspect. While I would like to hit my 'gold' level (around 30), I prefer to do so at my own pace if solo (usually bursts of 2-3 levels a day depending on activity), and I really don't care at all if I'm hanging out with people I know. Without a social aspect, or someone to discourse about the subject at all, I tend to not have as much interest in what I'm actually doing.
It's all about context, for me. The grind is a means to an end, but not the end itself. If I'm left with just the grind, I tend to find other things that I can focus myself on to not really notice the grind at all. As far as that goes, I'd have to say CoH/V is probably the least grindy game I've come across (as there's a plethora of things to do and enough variation that the grind itself isn't as noticeable), whereas games like Maple Story are where the high bar starts, and EVE Online is where it ends (The only benefit to EVE is that you can grind skills while not logged in - and thank freakin' goodness). -
*Sprawls on the FoC, exhausted. x.x*
Darn exercise routines. Trying to get my body in shape a bit more before helping one of my dad's friends move stuff, so I stepped up my usual regiment to include more back/arm work. I got until Tuesday to really be ready, so I should be fine but.. Dang.
*Fishes around for coffee.* -
Hooray for small surprises.
Does the 'sleek' options come up for folded boots/gloves, too? Or am I still out of luck there? -

I've decided to stop engaging in serious discussions on t3h forums, with people I don't know in a personal nature.
It just stresses me out, and yanno... I'd rather spend the time chillin', then wasting time with random people and their ridiculous soap boxes, when all I want is a civil, intelligent, open-minded discussion.

Perhaps.
But, maybe that's the intention? :3 -
Comparing PBs to Warshades is like comparing Fortunatas to Bane Spiders.
Fruit to Grain. Totally different things, and most people recommend that if you're going to Dual-Form a Human/Dwarf, that Warshade is probably the one you want to look at doing it with. Bright Dwarf is ridiculously underpowered compared to Dark Dwarf, especially in the damage output area, and further in the mitigation area (as it can't benefit from Light Form like Dark Dwarf can from Eclipse).
I still think I'd rather see a Tank actually heading things up then a Warshade, though, unless I knew them in a more personal fashion. It's easier for me to assume the tank (or scranker in this case from the sounds of it) knows what they're doing then to assume a generalist AT can back up his claims. :/ -

I nigh-unto wept with joy upon first reading this incredible news.
Now if only my bots weren't so damn suicidal... -
Honestly?
The straight-up tanker will probably end up better overall, especially in the damage department, just from the increased volume of options available to it that aren't available to a Warshade. You can certainly dual-form (which is what it's sounding like you're aiming for) and be successful, but I'd have to say that the Shield/Fire tank will still pull ahead in both ease of use and overall benefit.
Three AoEs vs. One AoE (albeit one with a damage buff), Four ST damage effects (one DoT) vs. three (one with a heal), the fact that Dwarf Form only benefits from click-effect buffs while the Tanker isn't similarly limited, the greater number of pool power options available (in that the Tanker can also take Tough/Weave to increase survivability further)...
Not saying that the Warshade can't be a powerful contender, but it's a lot trickier to manage. -

How is this relevant to archetypes or powers?

MA and AE is fine.
I find my teams. I run everything from normal content to MA Arcs (some are awesome) to Task Forces.
What is wrong is: no one has the truth on anything. Period. What is bad for you, may be not for the guys next door.
Dont like the MA? Dont use it.
Cant find teams? Create your own.
People dont want to do what YOU want to do? Find people that want. Cant do it? Look on the right places.
Stop crying, people! The world isnt about what YOU believe is right. Deal with this and move on.

Why does Fox ever choose Magic Origin - A Quick Reply
There are a number of reasons I usually go for 'Magic' over something that's a lot more fun to think about (Tech, Natural) or lazy (Science, Mutation). I've always been faskinated by characters such as Green Lantern (and by that I mean Alan Scott), Doctor Fate, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, and others. There's a certain amount of interest that comes from such a versatile background. A trained practitioner can come up with a Plot Device or MacGuffin with greater ease and less explanation and hand-waving then your average hero of any other origin (and that's lead to Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate in particular being shifted to 'background' status over being headliners of their own comics lately), and still manage to be interesting when they focus on their own preferred areas.
That, and the appeal of strange mystical items being attracted to or stumbled upon by various people (Alan Scott, Cain Marko) and used for good or ill is appealing, too. While hyper-tech and other things can be similarly applied, it's just easier somehow for people to accept it with magic. It also saves a lot of time when you can just say 'A wizard did it!' and skip around the subject of hows and whys.
That said, I tend to choose it just based on what the character in question seems to demand. If I had to go back and look through my character list, I'd probably see a lot of Magic and Mutation characters over anything else, with the rare odd Science or Technology character, and one or two Naturals in the mix (when I'm not forced into it - I have a handful of EATs that are stuck with what the game tells them they are). When I build a character, I let them tell the story. I just write what they call to mind. Name, AT, powerset, origin, basic backstory... whatever seems to fit for the benefit of the character.
Magic just happens to come up on top on occasion. S'all it is. Maybe it's a fascination for the arcane, or maybe it's just pure coincedence.
A more logical explanation is that there's a certain predisposition to farm Magic critters and such, and that tends to benefit characters of a Magic origin far more often (free DOs and SOs). An old-hat decision that's somehow managed to stick long after SOs lost popualrity. But that's just a hare-brained theory.
