3. Forbin, gotta disagree with you on that one. Enhancements are our items, and most of them are definitely more than "for show and vanity". HOs, set enhancements, purples especially...definitely not vanity loot.
[/ QUOTE ]
I beg to differ. There is no actual ingame necessity to have those vanity "items" so having a set-bonus list as long as your arm serves only to make your character more "uber" than the next one and to show off all the shiny Purples you have farmed.
[/ QUOTE ]Uhhh...no...HOs, set enhancements, and purples are the epic gear of WoW. They are not vanity items. They are required if you want to do crazy epic stuff (not regular content). SOs are the basic green stuff of WoW (good for regular content). DOs are white ("okay"). And TOs are gray (trash).
Having a set bonus as long as your arm makes your stats better than the SO'd person who has the same amount of percentages in their powers as you. Your HP, your end, your regen, your recovery, your accuracy, your recharge, your resistances (damage and status), your positional/damagetype defenses, ... heck you can even have debt protection that the SO'd guy can't. (Not that debt protection is worth much. But still. A dude with SOs can't get that out of their enhancements.)
All that being said, I think you totally misread what I wrote and need to read it again.
1. Enhancements are items. We have loot in City.
2. Most enhancements are not vanity items. Most enhancements change your character for the better, either increasing the power they are in, or increasing your characters global stats like regen, etc.
3. Vanity items do not change a character's stats, or if they do, it's extremely minimal. CoX doesn't have much of that. I can't think of any unless you're slotting old level 50 TOs or something.
4. The biggest and best enhancements are HOs and set enhancements, with purples being the biggest and best of the set enhancements. -

current setup - literally. You might notice a familiar thread on the monitor. ...
[/ QUOTE ]The quote contains my old setup. I got my new computer a bit over a week ago. I got my new monitor's connection cable a few days ago. Tonight, I swapped out PSUs because I was having issues with my computer randomly restarting. (Details in Tech Issues forum, for those curious. It's boring and techy.)
Here is my new setup. I had to change my pants the first time I used that monitor... *fans herself* -
Well, I have successfully swapped PSUs and rewired. (I hate rewiring.) Even got it all plugged in to the right places on the first try, go me! Rewiring sucks.
I played around on the web for a little while for a baseline test. No restarts.
I have solo'd in CoX for a little while for a "minimum effects at once" test. No restarts.
Tomorrow I am going to gather up a big group to take it on a stress test.
I hate rewiring, but my initial thought is that swapping PSUs may have fixed it. *crosses fingers and toes* *knocks on desk*
Did I mention that I hate rewiring?
EDIT: Oh, in case anyone's curious, here's the new system. I had to change my pants the first time I fired that monitor up... -

We cannot lose our enhancements once they're slotted, if we're defeated. Doesn't "loot" kind of work that way in other games? Where you are killed and other people can scrounge for what you had "on" you?
[/ QUOTE ]None of the ones that matter.

except for you know Ultima Online which started the whole MMO thing
because that just didn't ~matter~ at all did it now
[/ QUOTE ]Ultima Online is not in the forefront of very many minds when they say "current MMOs".
So, no, Ultima Online doesn't matter in this instance, IMO. It was the first MMO (sort of), and its idiosyncrasies (and bad ideas) are due to that. -

...it's the obvious ones that always escape me. O.O
;facepalm -
They're two different little wires taped to them, so they are definitely reading appropriately. I have seen them different numbers before.
OK. Now I'm actually going to go disassemble things. I got caught up doing my favorite game (look at new posts in Player Questions and tweaking P.Wiki to clarify answers), and now I'm off.
For real this time.
No, really, for real.

Added "Day Cycle" and "Night Cycle" and "Day/Night Cycle" to wiki's redirects for "Time".
Can you think of any other redirects would be good for it? (Or any other hard to search for page, like the pedestrians that give responses based on their names, etc.) -

100 Fahrenheit is anything but high for a pc... where do you live - Alaska?? 100F is aproximately 38C... I *wish* my pc ran that cool...
[/ QUOTE ]Hehe!! No, close but no biscuit! Seattle -- and I don't even have air conditioning.
I have three heat readings on my temp monitor, currently reading at:
VGA: 84.7F//29.2C (<--- keep in mind this is a crappy old 6200, so it's going to be cooler than new models)
CPU: 84.7F//29.2C
HDD: 89.8F//32C
I can technically get two more heat readings (2nd HDD, SB XFi when installed), but I haven't hooked that up yet (need more power socket cable thingies).
I am about to tear it all apart to swap power supplies now. *crosses fingers* Be back later!...hopefully...
If I don't burn the apartment building down. -
Re-read the OP:

Can the Market Teleporter temp power please be changed to only use a charge if it actually goes off?
[/ QUOTE ]Neither he nor I care about the endurance usage. I don't think anyone even brought that up, except in passing for something that doesn't really relate to the suggestion at hand.
Right now, it consumes a charge if you get interrupted, and you get a maximum of 10 charges. However, the 10,000inf purchasable market teleporter does not consume itself if you get interrupted.
This seems to be a pretty big oversight, IMO. -
I don't select Hover anymore. If I'm afraid of lagfalling, I just toggleon the Raptor pack. Which, honestly, isn't very often because I am rarely afraid of lagfalling unless I'm porting around in a zone I'm not supposed to be in yet (where even the minions are deep purple).

You can't avoid those situations that you conveniently deleted when you quoted me ("let's not quote the whole thing, no, let's just quote what we want to nitpick"). You can't even try to avoid them. They are completely in the hands of the game or other players. THAT was my point. TRY to avoid that? Yeah, that's not possible.

The RAM I've got is 4GB (2GBx2) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory (Kingston HyperX). CyberpowerPC doesn't tend to give options that are not compatible when building a computer. When I get back from work today, I'll double-check the voltages just to be sure.
No overclocking. I got it pre-assembled, but no tweaks done, from CyberpowerPC.
All else fails, I'll be swapping PSUs today when I get back from work, and if that fixes it, I'll be thrilled. Otherwise, I'll probably be calling CpPC. -
You need to purchase a new retail code, either online or in a brick-and-mortar real life store. (Which if I'm reading you right, you have with the CoH CE and CoV CE) Then you can ADD an account under your current master account (via add serial code), or create a whole new master account for it (via creating a new master account while logged out of your current one). After it's created with the first code, UPGRADE with your other serial code(s).

I have another PSU that I could test with (higher wattage, 650 vs the 450 the prebuilt basics came with), but it's a huge pain in my [censored] to swap them out and I wanted to wait on that til I got the new video card...*siiiiiiigh*
-
Yes, PPD chest detail is the 30mo award, along with Freedom Phalanx, Vindicators, Vanguard, Arachnos, Cage Consortium, CoT, and Council.

Hiya! I just frankensteined a new computer recently. I bought the basics (case, motherboard, CPU, RAM, harddrive1 (C and G drives), PSU) pre-built, with a temp monitor inside but not hooked up (which I hooked up), then used my pieces (GeForce 6200, harddrive2 (E drive), CD-RW) from my old computer. This is a fresh XP Pro install, as of this past Saturday.
NOTE: YES, I KNOW...the video card is absolute crap and I really shouldn't be using it in a system like this, but I don't have the money to get a better one. When I do, I am eyeballing the 9800 GTX, or the 280 if the price comes down considerably by then...at least a few months from now.
I would set my computer knowledge at "enough to be dangerous", but I don't do things that I don't research considerably yet, so I generally don't royally screw things up.
Basically, the computer restarts. Randomly. I can be in-game, at the login screen, tabbed out, or not even have the game running at all - it has happened a few times when I'm just surfing the web. It happens much faster in-game though, which is why I'm wondering if it's heat or a power-draw issue. There's no warning, it just goes from "la la la, clickie buttons, move mouse, ooh lookit the purty" to "why is my screen black?" - very, very occasionally there is a pause of like a second or less, but that's rare.
It's probably not heat, but I don't know. I hover around 90-97F (32-36C), rarely getting up to 100F (37.7C). I've got three case fans (intake front and side, exhaust back), plus a big heatsink+fan combo on the CPU, and the PSU exhaust fan. I haven't figured out how to alter BIOS to not auto-shutdown at a certain heat threshold, so I haven't ruled it out entirely, but I am doubting it. (Incidentally, this is the coldest any computer of mine has ever run.)
I am wondering if it might be power related, but in order to test that out, I'd have to disconnect my temp monitor (which probably draws the most power from the PSU of all my components), which means two of my fans would stop working (they are powered through it), meaning any crashes after that could be heat related OR the original problem.

IMO, if it's not in the requirements, it should be allowed. If the requirements are vague, the artist should contact the host in PM (or post in the thread) before going along with their idea in case it goes against the requirements.
As few requirements as possible to make the idea clear.
Otherwise, free-for-all. -

Mids stopped work on his planner, so don't expect any more updates to it.
[/ QUOTE ]Mids' stepped down, but gave the codebase to the Titan Network guys; Steiner is the official Mids' developer, now.
[/ QUOTE ]And, with the exception of ParagonWiki, like everything else that's TN, we've seen nothing happen for Mids. It's been 7 months and almost 2 Issues since there was a new version.
[/ QUOTE ]City Info Terminal is TN, and it's getting active development time on it. SaintNicster is the lead dev on it, and I see updates regularly (it's already got I15's badges in, and the AH tweaks have been tweaked). He's also lead dev on Glycerine, which had its latest version put out merely last week.
CoHFaces gets regular attention, it just hasn't been updated much due to so much on our admins' plates right now (what with completely switching over to a new site host, and our lead admin learning the code for Mids from the ground up). TonyV did some back-end tweaking and added youtube linking recently.
Mids is getting redone from the ground up (basically), you just can't see anything because Steiner is still learning its guts for updating. He hopes it's done for I15, but it may be delayed.
ParagonWiki is updated thousands of times a week, if not *a day*.
CoH Planner is currently really far on the backburner, but not completely abandoned. Red Tomax gets updated occasionally, but honestly, the admins' attention is elsewhere right now, and for good reason (Red Tomax data doesn't change very often).
So that's four out of six of the Titan Network sections that see regular attention. Five of seven if you count CIT and Glyc separately.
So...lemme ask this...since when is TN a death-knell for fan sites? (I remember someone (you?) inferring such a thing before.)
