Quote:Or just give all the Phalanx TFs a Posi style make over and make them not suck?Re-work the Synapse TF.
There are entirely too many defeat all missions. The other pain is the mission where you have to travel to the outer reaches of Boomtown to defeat Bertha, only to return to Steel Canyon.
I also like the idea of getting Faathim into 2010 by giving him a cellphone. -
Quote:Amen to that.I only don't mind from the respect that they're shorter. All 4 have their boring and redundant bits.
The Shards are cool enough that the story really ought to be expanded and deepened.
I've been in-game for about 2 and a half years.
I've seen the actual SS zone, not an instance, a grand total of...once.
Once in two and a half years. Why? Because I have 0% reason to go there. Never get directed there, no cool arcs there and, by the sound of it, no point unless I find a char that really needs Rularuu weaponary. -

Quote:Fair enough, but even then one of my points still stands; The valley lag has nothing to do with capes or graphics at all. Capes are handled client-side, as are all of the graphics in the game, so anything they can lag is your computer or your connection on your end. The ITF hill lag does not exhibit framerate slowdown (not on my showfps) or connection slowdown (not on my netgraph). What it exhibits is server-side lag, meaning the server machine itself is slowing down and processing things slower with more pauses.
The only graphical aspect of anything in the game that's server-controlled is ragdolls, and I've seen more ragdolls in the same spot than that without any server-side lag. What Castle pointed to as the culprit was the one thing that is ALWAYS handled by the server, which is the powers system. Cimerorans, apparently, have some of the most processor-intensive powers in the game, no doubt because of Phalanx Phighting and whatever AI drives them, and large groups of them drive the complexity of those calculations up exponentially (figuratively speaking).
The only way to fix ITF hill lag is either to make Cimeroran powers simpler or to include fewer of them, neither of which seems to be an option.

As far as capes go, I'd like to see multiple cape rigs available for characters, but it's a request that's highly unlikely to happen. Maybe one day when everything else is so damn costly thanks to Super Ultra Mode that capes pale in comparison. We'll have to wait and see.
Get rid of the Engineers on the bridge that ALL have powers running in close tandem that next to no one ever kills.
If that's not slowing that bit down something rotten I don't know what is. That and the four ambushes that trigger at once, rather than in a steadier manner.
In fact, thinking about it, a tonne of the lag comes in during the ambush stage, which coincidently is often when the group (at least when I've been on them) has been under the Engineers bridge. Crap load of engineers stood by with powers running on auto? Suddenly throwing four more large mobs with powers into the mixer?
I'd love to know what the test results for removing those two elements would be. Because I'd bet top dollar on that having a good result. -
Quote:Saist, Saist, Saist...you take things a little too seriously at times. They wouldn't need to do that for another Shard TF:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Rularuu_the_Ravager :: Chularn the Slave Lord, Kuularth the Scavenger, Aloore the Watcher, and Uuralar the Mirror are not currently encountered in the game.
Re-read the line you quoted
I know I lol'd, at any rate. -
At that point, it was impossible for BaBs to watch the Expendables, without time travel that is

Needless to say, full auto shotguns exist, and they have a very similar effect: stuff falling over en masse.
I say add it. Again, it makes as much sense as any of the other skins, especially the sniper rifle or the piddly little uzi. -
Quote:Which can be perfectly represented already by simply using GR.I think the devs should come up with some sort of a system that would let heroes go into the Rogue Isles in order to do the missions and get the Patron Pools the normal way. It shouldn't be permanent, though. Maybe just something that can be reversed, so the hero can go back to Paragon without any long lasting repercussions. So it's like they're just going undercover for a little bit, or something like that.
Seriously, what M_B said. You want the patron powers, go Redside and get 'em. If Heroes ever get their own unlockable powers, then I shall say the exact same for Villains; go get 'em.
((Please note, this opinion does not extend to things such as costume pieces that require unlocking, because as I have stated in other threads, certain side specific unlocks are simply unreasonable, not to mention damn stupid. Thank you for your time Techbot Alpha will not be held responsible for any damages cause to your property, person or family due to you failing to read this message. Should you do something daft, like try to liken powers to costume pieces, especially the method of unlocks, then you deserve everything you get coming to you. Have a nice day)) -
I say that that tag-line makes me want to beat you to death with your own skull every time I have to read it...

I like it. Hell, anything would be better than the 'story' that the SoAs get at the moment. I still feel that that was incredibly rushed (not to mention shoddy) writing, especially in comparison to the TWO distinct plots the Khelds get, where as SoAs get just the one. Or possibly a half, since that more accuratley represents my opinion of it. -
Does this mean I get to beat them up and steal their powers?
Because that's how villains do it
-
Quote:Because throwing some poor schmucks car at a villain is so very Heroic...Not to say that it isn't a problem, but in open maps where there are already parked cars, why not just add a couple more cars that are tossable, maybe an extra dumpster or two.
Just sayin' >_> -

I always told people that Stamina is not a vital organ; that they should be looking for ways to play the game that don't always assume that power at level 20 on every single freaking character.
But nooo, what did they say? "Not enough blue! Gotta have more forever! Stamina is good and the only thing that's truly bad is not taking it!"
I was tickled with glee the moment I realized so many people with their hordes of blue-barring, cookie-cutter characters would be sentenced to an eternity of respecification.
And what powers will be taken in their place? Ah, there are three, yet there are no slots to allocate for them. Either something needs to be removed from other powers, or the three power choices are utter throwaways just like they were in the past. It's a lose-lose!
*Cackles maniacally while lightning flashes in the background*
Because sucking end for the entire game with rare exceptions isn't most peoples idea of fun.
Personally, I now get to mess around with more build freedom, and maybe learn how to slot more efficiently.
You can strike me down now, and I will become more buffed then you can possibly imagine! -

Ahh. Yes. Thank you for reminding me again just how much I hate KoA and their [OBSCENE LANGUAGE!] caltrops...

Quote:Bah. Bloody forums ate my first reply.Eh, I'm hoping to keep it away from a single elemental line (like I did with the Blaster Magic Mastery)
Furthermore, it's a nominal bonus. Your making a mountain out of a molehill here. The bonus would be something like 5 to 10% extra damage, likely about the same as a low level Training Origin. There's no real 'penalty' for picking a different one. Just a tiny little incentive to use your own Origin's mastery.
And, these don't need Patrons. =P
Short reply;
Devs have said they don't want origin to do anything other than flavour stuff.
Ergo, not happening.
Also, you tell people that x gets a bonus from a power while y doesnt, they will consider x to be 100% and y is gimped. Thats just how people are. -
...*Twitch*
Writing in the present tense...Ick.
Oh, and the DeFeurards are still around. Still intent on causing someone somwhere some considerable pain

Steel Canyon, unknown apartment
Leon looked up as a printed page dropped into his lap.
"Hmn...You're brothers been busy, I see," he said to Maria as she walked around the back of the deep red sofa he was lounged on. He peered over his glasses at the message. "Heh. Newcastle? I would have figured something a little more up-market would have been more their forte. Certainly more pompous, too..."
"Maybe their getting desperate," Maria shrugged, flopping on the sofa opposite, shuffling her dense black dressing gown into a more comfortable position before picking up the laptop she had left on the coffee table and opening it again.
Leon smirked, reading the short message again. It held little more than confirmation of where the Council had been, and that there had only been nine of them.
"Always does a good job at getting his facts, does Lawry," he muttered quietly.
"Internet, Dad. The wonders of modern technology. People talk, people see things and, nine times out of ten, someone will post something on the net. Maybe you should try and get that old book of yours promoted, or something," Maria shot back, not looking up from the laptop where her fingers were flying across the keys.
"Maybe. Maybe...up to much?" her father shot back, glancing over.
"Writing. Messaging Richard back in London, letting him know that I will be back sometime-"
"Good name. Sounds like a solid chap."
"-ordering a few more blades and some extra-armour-"
"More? A man can make a sword last centuries if he puts his mind to it-"
"-and cheats like you do, Dad; some new boots-"
"That's hardly the point."
"-and checking up some more leads on this 'Open Season'."
"The one that has supposedly ended?"
"Supposedly. Seems someone wants it to keep going."
"Ah-ah, hence the swords and armour?"
"No, Dad. I like swords and armour. That's all."
"Capital. You make me proud, both of you. By the way, did you find out if Lawry had actually found himself a young lady yet?"
"Dad!"
"Just saying..." -
I wouldn't mind, IF I could just drop them.
I don't want to talk to the AE manager. Ever again. I don't get anything for it, so why should I? At least the IO tutorial gives you some reward, so I don't mind doing that. Ditto for Ouro.
AE? Get the smeg outta my contacts list!

The Other Superhero MMO managed it.
And you know what?
In my opinion it sucked.
Yes, I said it. Our powersets work fine as they are (with a few bugs and outliers, granted)
Something for a theoretical CoH2? Sure.
But putting it in this game? As is? That'd be like taking away rooting; horrible. -

Seperating neck from shoulder options would be great though. As would backpack items finally making it in. I do get the feeling that they at least are being worked on. -
Quote:Yes, except your completly missing the point. It's just a minor bonus, in fact, Techbot Alpha, having an ability do a little more if your a specific origin is already in the game--it's mentioned in the description of the Vet powers that if you're a specific origin, they'll do a little more. And that's what I want for the Origin Mastery powers.
Villain Patrons don't care what origin you are; they work at 100% effectiveness and nothing more. Can you imagine the utter firestorm that would spring up if a new Hero patron pool was made to have origin actually matter?
I'll give you an example. Super Lightning Robo is an elec/elec something robot character. He's Tech origin. Now, say that one of the Hero Patrons was Synapse, who gave elec powers. However, with your current suggestion, say he got made Science origin.
Now, SLR wants to pick the elec powers because they fit his theme, look cool, do good damage/whatever, and he also doesnt fancy getting stuck with Scirrocos creepy red lightning.
And yet he get's penalised because he is Tech origin and not Science origin. #
Can you see how little sense that makes? The Devs have repeatedly shot down suggestions related to origin, simply because they don't want it to have an impact like that on the game. It was originally concieved as something that had certain benefits, until they realised, IIRC, that people were only picking a certain origin because of it's boosts. Or something like that. Enough to make sure that it got detached from anything except as a nice added bit of flavour and, yes, the Veteran powers. Which are also completly optional, given for free, and it only applies to the two staffs.
Thems the breaks. -
The ammount of times I've suggested that, just maybe, all the superflous mobs and capes and caped superflous mobs might just have an impact on the lag...
I mean, the bridge tops are full of engineers. What do engineers all have? You guessed it; capes.
Minions have capes. The LTs have capes. The bosses have capes.
If what BaBs said is 100% correct, then the valley of lag is probably a metric crapton worse off in part due to all the capes.
I'd love to run a test by replacing just the Cimerorans with, say, any other mob. Just 5th Column. Carnies, Nems, I dont care. Just to see what the result was. No other changes, just the mob type.
I think I'd be willing to wager it'd make a difference...
