I'd say the easiest way would be to flag certain arcs to give IXP and drop threads (but no reward roll at the end, obviously) That should enable people to get their stuff relatively painlessly.

Quote:My understanding was that the Ascenscion Armour was only usable at level 50, but the other pieces (chest emblems, auras, and so on and so forth) were availible at level 1 or when unlocked normally (eg. 20 for capes, 30 for auras)Well, crap. Please understand that I mean you no ill will when I say this - I sincerely hope you read that wrong, because this would be such a dick move I can't even describe. Why?!? What is this, Lineag II? Even if the "Incarnate" costume pieces sure as hell look like they came out of that game, what use are they to level 50 characters only?
Jophiel makes a good point - by level 50, I've already established my character's look and theme long ago. Am I seriously expected to dump that in favour of looking like a WoW reject? Not that I mind that theme, really, but if I wanted that kind of character, I'd have made one all along. I refuse to make a character and then wait 50 levels to put on goofy costume parts.
Why does this feel more and more like your classic MMO? Raid grind, loot, and now the "epic" gear with the ridiculous huge pointy shoulders. Seriously, why are we making it more and more like every other MMO ever made? Because if I wanted every other MMO, there are better games out there. I play this one because it's NOT like them. -
Quote:You don't need influence. Emp merits are enough.I think you overlooked the part where the Trials are laggy and therefore unfun. (Also disconnect-happy, for me.) There's a grind and then there's a griiiiiind.
Also, there's no way I'd ever earn enough Influence without resorting to farming AE missions. Across all of my characters, I probably have 500 million. At best. That barely gets me in the door.
EDIT: To further elaborate, currently you can get incarnate salvage the following way:
1. Conversion, this generally costs influence. (at least for the higher tiers) you can convert all the way from Shards to Very Rare thread components, though it's VERY expensive to do so (in influence, time, and shards/threads required) Note that converting threads to common (20 threads) and uncommon (40 threads) does NOT cost you anything, and that while the shards/threads conversion costs influence (2.5 million) the Notice of the Well>40 threads one does NOT. Note that 40 threads is two commons, which means that after two weeks of running the WST once each week you'll have a common incarnate power of your choice crafted.
2. The random table at the end of a successful trial. This is, as the name implies, highly random.
3. Empyreal merit conversion: Eight empyreal merits can be converted into a rare piece of salvage of your choice. 30 gives you a very rare component. You get one empyreal merit per day for each of the separate trials. (one for BAF, one for Lambda, assuming you complete both) Empyreal merit conversions do NOT cost influence. Astral merits can be converted into threads, which.. Well, see above.
4. Completing the additional badges on the trials: Each component badge for the Master Of badge gives you a random uncommon, when you get the Master Of Lambda/BAF (at least the second of which is not very difficult at all) you get a random rare component.
5. Sidegrade: You can also convert one type of component into another of the same tier, this costs threads though (very little for commons, a bit more for uncommons, much more for rares and very rares)
6. Downgrading: You can convert one higher tier component to one lower tier component, should you wish to. (Mainly this is useful for uncommon>common conversions since you need a lot more commons than uncommons)
As I've played I've noticed that (apart from when you're trying to get the T4's) the limiting factor tends to be Ixp and not components per se. (I've almost never unlocked a slot without having something to slot it with) And well, unlocking the slots (or at least earning Ixp) is something I could totally see them adding to arcs, Ramiel-style (Honestly, if you could get regular thread drops from mobs, + Ixp from certain arcs that should enable you to get your slots open and slottet relatively easily, even if you'd still have to pay for the Rares and Very Rares) -
Actually that depends on what attacks you have.
-
I do both. I enjoy the new trials for what they require (teamwork and coordination) some of them are a bit laggy though.
I love the "New" taskforces (Imperious, Lady Grey, Sutter, Kal, LRSF; STF) the villainide SFS are far better than the heroside TF*s though...(especially Synapse. Synapse needs a positron-style remake)
The old trials tends to be rather buggy with lack of good interface tools, so I avoid them. -

Quote:Empyreal merits are your friend.I wouldn't give a damn if the bloody drop table wasn't random and arbitrary.
That and if MMs didn't get shafted by Praetorians anyway. But oh, theres a cure for that isnt there? I can just get the +2 level boosts! Of course! Durr!
But oh, to do that I need Rares. Hmm. How do I get them again? By grinding Raids until I'm lucky enough to get them?

Quote:Even assuming the worst case scenario (you only roll commons) if you run the two trials a day (it should take about an hour) you'll have your rare component in four days (4 hours, although it probably takes a bit more time to set a team up) That's a GUARANTEED rare. The BP Mask badge doesn't take NEARLY as long as running the Trials do.
A team of three or more can get the BP Mask by running one of Unai's missions about three times. Depending on your damage output, that's going to take only a few hours at most.
Not to mention the fact that you will INEVITABLY get the badge as soon as you kill all the Masks you need.
On the Trials, you can play just as much as anyone else and never get what you need.
As I've said before, I don't mind having to work for the shinies, but the Raids are so darn laggy that I just don't have fun.
Hopefully, the new content that's coming will make it easier for those of us who don't like or can't participate in the Trials on a regular basis to make progress for the shinies.
By that time you'll almost certainly have had enough threads and components for the other components you need.
The problem would probably be unlocking the IXP. But even that isn't that hard.
Four days, one our of playtime a day. That's not unreasoable. Yes, it's more than the mask-hunt (which took me about three hours) but again not unreasonably so. -
Quote:Well, they're mostly just recycled models I suspect, but still, not complainingIm very happy with this half an issue.
Yes there is one or two things I would have done differently. Ive been neutral about gated cossie parts, I don't mind them being in the game but wouldn't complain at all if they weren't either. AoE buffs (with no endurance increase!!!) are good for the most part, but you do get people who do not wish to be buffed so managing that will become more difficult.
But overall when I read the Overview page I was so happy with everything that was announced.
Oh and the new law pets? WOW! The devs really pulled the stops out to get ALL those ready for half issue -
Quote:You can also get Power Build Up in Energy Mastery, but yeah, that's got a longer recharge. You mean the AoE buff? Excellent change but affects Cold Domination almost as much as Force Field. Force Field pretty much has to take Power Boost now to leverage the advantages... and for Defender's that's only available in a PPP you have to turn Villain to get. This means also means a /FF Controller with Power Boost can softcap a team in normal content like a Defender. My FF Defender stays parked, unfortunately. The Colds will love this though.

Quote:Failed a Lambda yesterday. of course, we were going for Lambda Looter and we were really close. (about 5% when the timer timed out)
I can't recall the last BAF or Lambda I was on that failed. -

OH MY GOD THIS IS AWESOME!
-AOE buffs. YESYESYESYESYES!!! Best. Change. Ever.
-Auras. KIRBY DOTS! Lightning! Ice! MOTHE-*bleep*-ING SONIC RAINBOOM!
-Another way of getting IO's. (Let's see how efficient that'll be compared to the other ways)
I'm so happy. -
Quote:The rare's really aren't that hard. Eight trials. Four days, and you have a rare.Cool, I actually never knew about that distinction. A lot of times, it's used interchangeably with ultimate.
Regardless of the fact, even the Tier 3's are difficult to acquire with the system as-is. The lottery system is... Suffice it to say, it's aggravating. There are players who are STILL complaining that they have yet to get a Very Rare table, and these are folks who complete the Trials regularly.
And, yes, there are still folks who don't know how to do a Trial properly, so failing them is still a possibility.
Now that's just plain rude.
And that's NOT counting random rolls (which seems decent enough, I don't know the exact chance but it seems to be around 5-10%) -
Quote:You mean like how you have to spend hours farming those damn masks to get the accolade badge? So, if I'm getting the overall reaction, a lot of folks are happy that this casual-friendly game is essentially telling the folks who would like to continue to play casually will never have the penultimate capabilities advertised. Casual players won't get the money required by these things. Casual players won't be hitting both Incarnate Trials (soon to be all three) every day, multiple times a day, to get the Empyrean Merits and different Randomly Rolled Reward Tables.
Frankly, I'm getting to the point where playing these Incarnate Trials over and over and over and over and over and over again is far beyond ludicrous. I keep losing my patience with them, especially when I get punted from the server because I decided to check my Incarnate Trees to see what salvage I need for my next recipe.
I'm hoping that the future has more options available to players to unlock these things (namely, would it really be so wrong to have Shard recipes made for them?), because the current "Lottery" system is hair-rippingly aggravating. -
Quote:Lore is the pet. You're thinking Destiny. How big is the jump for lore? I was considering going tier 4 for rebirth +regen, the only tier 4 I have is Barrier which I will admit is very satisfactory but I wanted to try rebirth.
The buff for Lore is +25% damage (Core) or a boss pet (Radial)
EDIT: And yes, I see no problem with it. As Arcana pointed out, these are meant for the obsessive completists who are willing to put in a lot of time to get them, the extra benefit they bring is in no way commensurate with the effort required, and that's entirely deliberate.*
* I do have a character with full T4's, 3 random drops and one crafted from rares. But my alts I just get to T3 and only to T4 if I get a lucky Very Rare somewhere. -

Quote:Mind, the -res can easily outperform the damage if you're on a team, and even more if you're on a league.Of course, the way that -RES works, no matter how much RES they have you're still increasing your damage by the correct amount. It will always increase your damage by 10%, unless they have 100% RES.
Still, the DoT is a nicer effect. It adds a rather large amount of damage to all your attacks. -
Quote:Neither: It procs on every damage tick.
Does anyone know if the procs for Interface (pre-fix) are (were) using the damage duration or the debuff duration?
Sleet has about 70-tics.
Now, this is mitigated somewhat by the fact that eg. Reactive only stacks five times, but that's still pretty bad.
Note that regular DOT's doesen't do this: Rains actually make multiple attacks, and that's why they (pre-fix) procced a lot.
EDIT: Slotting damage procs into sleet is far more efficient than slotting them with Damage IO's, for instance. Not sure how the math works out on Ice Storm though. -
How about a toxic DOT-based judgement? ("Acidic Judgement"?)
-
This is more about the gravitic one but...
Gravitic does -special, right? (10% according to paragonwiki)
Now, I might be wrong here, but *doesen't to-hit count as a secondary effect*? It certainly looks that way when using benumb.
If so, wouldn't Gravitic (75% chance for 10% debuff) be better than diamagnetic (100% chance for 5% debuff?)m -
Personally I've found the fastest way is to do a WST for a notice, get eight shards (which shouldn't take too long) craft the T1 & T2 enhancements with trial salvage and T3 with the notice+components.

Quote:And they're nerfing Marauder, so that's not a problem. They're not all different from each other, because it's the same two damage types that are 100% resisted by all of them. This is grossly unfair to many Scrapper, Brute, Stalker, and Tanker powersets, as well as two Blaster, Corruptor and Defender powersets. And it's the same powersets that get screwed over every. Single. Time.
And no, a "diverse team" can't take down Enraged Marauder with ease, especially once they start lagging. A hand-picked team can take him down. Right now, said team doesn't include anyone relying on S/L damage. A diverse team might be able to take him down, if they have enough debuffs and exotic damage to compensate for players with limited utility.
He was arguing against the other AV's, who hasn't really been a problem in that way. (except Honoree, and that's becuase he somehow keeps reapplying his panic button more than he should)
