About to go out kayaking, but I'll be back in the evenin'. Ya'll are welcome to use our Order of the Champion vent if you feel the need to communicate on a verbal level. Which I always find helps...

Been reading that thread myself.
All I can say is.

I think this all means that you get to form Cin

Even though I'm sure the roast would be extreemly entertaining I'd have to agree that it could go downhill fast.
Rerolling your main is all well and good but that would turn into more of an 8 man event instead of a server event since everyone would be breaking off into teams to go do their own thing.
The only way I'd see that working would be if the event revolved around everyone rerolling their main as a rockstar and then hitting the sewers together as a server. Could be entertaining.
Imagine 20+ heroes rolling through the sewers in Force. -
Quote:PvP can be a truckload of fun. Glad you enjoyed yourself.I didn't want to start a new thread so I thought this might be a good place to post.
It seems like we are quick to jump on the negative stuff that happens. I just wanted to post something positive.
A couple weeks ago I went to a Pee Wee pvp match. I observed once and went in one match. I didn't really understand what was going on all I walked away with was. "It sure seems like fun". Everyone was very nice and the atmosphere was laid back.
Today I took a random invite to RV. I had never been in the zone, but the promise of fighting AV's had me intrigued.
My mates came out to pvp. Cherry and Cam were laying waste to about 5 heroes. I was having a blast even though I felt like I was not keeping up as I should.
We needed help...
No one really seemed intrested in pvp or wanted to help. Which baffled me because this wasn't like an arena match and it was all in fun.
I saw Bud and Steel in channel and asked them to help. I only know their names from the Forums. I have never spoken with them. Bud was actually pretty busy. He dropped what he was doing and came to help just because I asked.
I thought that was really nice of them both.
Our team was not optimal, none were pvp'rs. I was the only emp and clueless. Bud and Steel really were very nice and supportive. Not once did they complain about having a rookie emp. In fact one of them Im not sure which sent me a tell saying that I had a great attitude and don't get discouraged.
It was so action packed I would be watching the fighting and forget I was supposed to be in there healing!
I had a great time. I appreciated the patience and encouragement. I don't know what it was like in the past, but my limited experience with pvp has been awesome so far. I hope that more people will come out and try. -

At this point there is a multitude of vent servers available to people. Everyone who vent's regularly probably already has their dedicated "home" vent such as myself. However for those that don't it is a nice jesture to open up a vent to the community.

Quote:There is a fine line in this game. It's known as staying alive long enough to be offensive. So the question I have, is this; Is there a tangible benefit to be had by capping S/L defense on my character over ranged defenses? What does one offer that the other doesn't? Would this help me in the long run, or just end up gimping my damage output for little reason?
That being said, a large majority of people take measures to help their characters survive where others wouldn't so that they can continue on and fight the battle while their friends are sucking pavement.
The most popular method to do so on a squishy type is to focus through sets and a few additional powers in the build to raise your defense to a select type or types of incoming damage.
Smashing & Lethal: Lovingly referred to as S/L by many, this two guys combine and generally double to be roughly 90% of the incoming damage that you receive throughout your potentially short life as a squishy. 90%. Yes, that's quite a bit. Hence why is can be such an excellent idea to put into affect a trump card for Mr. S/L by making sure that any incoming S/L damage has only a 5% chance to hit you. (Which would be the softcap 45% that people talk about)
Range: Alternately every type of incoming damage gets classified into a "Positional" type of damage. Those would be: Melee-Ranged-Area of Effect
Adding a softcap to ranged defense obviously means that yes you guessed it: 95% of incoming ranged damage won't hit you. If you're evasive and your ability to maneuver in the heat of combat is sufficient you can keep Everything at range. Which amazingly enough makes you quite survivable.
Now, I can't tell you what it's like play a squishy without softcaped defense because I don't have any. But I can tell you that when they're kissing the ground I'm not.
Basic rule of thumb would be to softcap your Ranged defense if you're a flier or actually stay at range like a good squishy. Softcap your defense to my buddies S/L if you prefer the lighter side of battle that would involve diving headlong into the middle of everything in your path.

Quote:This ``Because new players or ones needing help need to type in /hc before they can use it, which they'd probably need to ask in bcast for how to use the help channel...
However, I would like to just point out that....
HEY PEOPLE!!! This isn't the "fix stuff" thread, this is the complain and don't do anything about it thread! Get with the program and fix stuff in a different thread.
You with the solutions, go on get outta here who let you in GIT!

Havn't been following all the "you can and can'ts" that have been happening here over the last couple days. Bunch of ridiculousness that I didn't have any control over so I didn't choose to have an opinion.
I am however glad Bud, that you were able to sort it out and participate with your nephew and the rest of the gang. See ya on the ice. -
Oh I know it's old, just thought I'd share anyone. Old is old, but awesome is awesome.

CAR: Best Ribbon Ever.
Sounds like you had a great time, glad to hear it. -
Quote:Indeed, I very much enjoy helping along new players, teaching them the basics, and showing them all the neat things that the game has to offer. However I also appreciate it when what is being said and taught is absorbed and not bouncing off pavement. I'm all for folks asking questions, just remember the answer.Exactly. I also enjoy the delicious irony of the successive posts a couple replies back:
Post 1: Ask questions, we are here to help.
Post 2: Don't ask a question you can figure out; we're not really here to help.
Now, I know Force to be a decent player from what I've seen of him. I think he's only speaking to those who ask the same questions repeatedly (not to speak for you, sorry).
But if I had to limit my questions to things I couldn't figure out with time and research.......I would never be able to ask another question again. ; )
However, I was always having to answer the same questions for the same people; I could see that easily being frustrating.
So, I guess a good way to phrase that pet peeve is : Absolutes

A while back I had attempted to make an indepth multiple arc story about my one and only character concept. Those problems CL speaks of eventually lead me to canning' the project. Unfortunately. It was alot of fun, kind of like how PvP used to be way back when.

You may use the Order of the Champion base if you'd like. I'm unable to participate on Wednesdays due to a static team but the base and Raid Portal are available if you'd like to utilize them for a CoP attempt. You know where to find me.

-Lets ask the same question every week because you don't care enough to actually commit anything to memory. That one gets old, real fast.
-When someone doesn't know what level a TF is. New players are understandable, but people who have been playing for years and still don't remember or even take the tiny amount of time and look it up.
It's hard to relate and be patient sometimes when I know that in less than 30 seconds one can find the answer to pretty much any question you could think of on one of the numerous websites dedicated to CoX.
