I'm a lvl 28 fire/kin corruptor (Burning Chi) , we have a lvl 30 energy/energy brute (brutal firearms), and Senza Morte- a lvl 30 zomb/force MM.

Yep, it all evens out. Although technically they are as squishy as eachother, Corruptors could easily last longer.

This guy is fun to team with, we team on my Corruptor.

Healers watch out for him, he loves aggro

Storm is a very nice secondary, especially if you want to be hold based.

Fire/Storm are both pretty similar in my opinion, storm has many holds/disorients and knockbacks, as well as a heal. Also, have a look at the last power- great damage dealer on top of the imps.

It'll be nice to have another 50 Ice tank out there to team with

I remember I used to be exactly like you. I bought the game the day it came out, and had about 50 alts. I got very bored of this, so had a two month break. Then, I decided to make a funny character, that I based on the 'Tsoo Sorcerer' - Storm/Dark defender. I got this character to lvl 20, where I thought to myself 'What a stupid build, there are no high Storm defenders out there, they must suck'.

I sent /tells, there and then, to every lvl 45+ defender, asking if they were Storm. None. One, however, said that he loves them, and that Storm Controllers are very handy.

I carried on with my Stormy, and joined that helpful Defender's SuperGroup. I have stuck with them ever since, all the way to 50 and back

You see, playing the game is not all about Uberness. Fire tanks were very popular (at the time), and there were plenty of them floating around. I've had fun with my guy, and still merry in the fact that he is unique

Well, it mainly depends on your preference.

if a team is just looking for any old controller, empathy is a nice secondary..however, I've always loved kinetics....illusion is VERY fun...

Yeah, I mainly took kinetics to match empathy, decent heal, and it compromises for no RA...

Yep. I picked it. Just got Stamina at 20, going for Speed Boost at 22, maybe Increase Density at 24, 26- Blazing Bolt, then inertial reduction at 28 (Can't remember if that's when I unlock it), Not sure about 30, maybe just a handy power, like grant invis or something, Inferno at 32, 'My Ultimate End Saver' at 35, and Fulcrum Shift at 38.

Am I getting a bit too far ahead of myself?

I'm mainly thinking between Blaze and Increase Density...any experienced fire blasters or kinetic controllers/defenders?

I'm a fire/kin corruptor, and I just got him to 18. I can't make a decision on the move!
I can have:
Repel (PBAoE Knockback)
Rain of Fire (AoE DoT)
Breath of Fire (Cone Mod Dmg)
Increase Density (basically clear mind)
Blaze (short range high damage)

What should I pick?

Well, yes, in my opinion. When you see the slightly new characters with certain combo slower moves (let's take a Katana Scrapper, for example), and they chose SuperSpeed as their travel power. However, they chose flurry (the worst power ever possible) as their primary pool set. They will keep having to get their katana in and out, which will be annoying for them and other teammates. However, they can respec flurry out if they wanted, and you cant...

SS/SJ is quite popular, though not as popular as it used to be, as most people either go with Superjump and swift, or Superspeed with slotted hurdle.

Superspeed comes with hasten, although a SM brute may not want it, and nobody ever wants flurry. ever.

Superjump comes with combat jumping, and acrobatics.

So for a brute I'd go with superjump for now.

Well, from what I understand...
Fire/Fire = V High damage (burn/blazing aura, */fire is very powerful, as fire does extra damage instead of an effect, eg disorient> energy)


Inv/* is apparently one of the best damage resistances...;

Stone armour is supposedly fantastic after lvl 32, as you may get Granite armour, but that slows and reduces damage.

*/ice isnt very high damage, but provides a lot of helpful tanker moves, such as holds, slows, and ice patch ofcourse.

*/SS is quite good in my opinion, but can get quite boring, well, so says my lvl 50 inv/ss friend, anyway.

*/BA is good on single targets>AVs etc.

Ice/* is different from most sets, as it relies on defence, not damage resistance. I wouldn't say it was particularly bad (well, I wouldn't dare, not with Spad watching this thread anyway )

But to be honest, you shouldn't really pay much attention to me, as I don't really know what I'm talking about, just information from friends etc.
