    There tends to be a delay from submitting comics to getting them uploaded on the site. Usually only a week or so but at times it's nearly a month so I tend to stick them on photobucket (or megaupload this time) and post them here to help drum up interest for the CoH Comics site.
  2. Here's Spectacular Sparky #14 in pfd format and uploaded to Megaupload. It's 30megs(compressing reduced the quality of the images too much) so dialup users be warned. Issues 1-13 can be found at CoH Comics along with over 100 more player created comics.

  6. Well after much procrastination, some burn out, troubles with demo playbacks and other matters the latest issue is finally finished. It's much shorter than I originally intended with lots of material that wound up getting cut so that I could finish the issue this year.

    . . . But. . . nothing for The Stuff of Dreams? In my opinion that was superlative work. Funny, but in a way that made sense when you got to the second last page and suddenly, light dawns. It injected actual life into Paragon City (and Paragon City needs life). All those people walking around like automatons in the game have been given faces, names and relationships. . . which in turn gives heroes more incentive to BE heroes. After reading "The Stuff of Dreams" I had an immediate and visceral reaction, once the laughs died down; I wanted to log into my hero and go patrol Paragon City in case these kids needed rescuing from the Tsoo, or the Hellions.

    Dag nabbit. I demand Stuff of Dreams be recognized!

    I was also hoping for an award for Tales of Paragon. That exuded heroism with a capital H, and was a classy, well-told origin story with heart (also capital H).

    Hmph. I remember posting that if The Stuff of Dreams didn't win, I'd be canceling my account. Well, I've already canceled it prior to the contest (financial and time reasons) so at least now I don't have to go back on my word. . .

    Wow, I truly don't know what to say. I'm really glad you enjoyed my comic and that makes the work I put into it worthwhile. I'm also glad my not winning wasn't the cause of you leaving the game and I hope you can come back eventually.

    With that being said if my comic made a few people smile and laugh then that's all the recognition that I need.

    Once again congratulations to the winners, truly some phenomenal work.

    As before just swap out the character data. I've guessed at the timing so hopefully it will be a slow rotation. If not just increase the time (the 50) until it's at a speed you want, or I suppose you could play with the FPS on the demoplayer.
  15. You might have to go with rotating the camera instead of your characters. I've found that the characters seem to rotate around a point roughly at the tip of their feet. So when you rotate them as their back spins towards the camera it seems they're moving closer. Zloth has a demoedit program that might make creating the camera movements easier as well as locating your character data in a demorecord. To make it really easy, when you do a demorecord of your character do it in a base or a remote location in a zone so the file isn't loaded with info you won't need or have to dig through. I hope that helps a little.

    edit: Now that I think about it, even rotating the camera will probably give the same result as rotating the character since they'll be rotating around the same point. If that's the case rotating the character is much easier.

    Just swap out the character data and you'll get a demo of your character with a blue background and nothing else. The rotating camera might take a bit of work though. I'll see if I can come up with something when I get home from work.
  17. After seeing all the great comic submissions I doubt mine will win but I'd be more than happy if I get a few chuckles with it. I tried to upload it on the hypercomics site but had troubles with it(I submitted a pdf) so I just stuck it on photobucket instead.

  18. I just have to say when DJ started showing me the finished pieces I was totally stunned by how incredible they were. I simply can't put into words how amazed I was at the level of detail he put into them. They were well worth the wait and will be a spectacular keepsake for my years playing the game.

    And if nobody has spotted it yet, Nearsighted Man is about to step off the roof.

    The parts in bold are the camera position and your character position. I've changed them to what I usually use when taking a simple shot of a character. I've also removed the MAP data since it's not needed and all that will appear now are clouds which is why I use an elevation of -10000 as it puts the character and camera well below them so they won't show up when you play the demo. And you can change the Time data to whatever you prefer; 12.00000 for daylight/blue background, 24.000000 for night/black background. In addition I've kept all the emotes you had your character doing.
