The EB vs AV argument could in this case, be made as an avoidance of such power creep. Otherwise, when Batallion and the next 'threat' appear, it would require a new categorization to apply to the conning system. Folks have already balked the currencey systems in this game (inf, merits, salvage, shards, threads, etc)... How do you think they'd react to a new conning system?

    Yeah.

So they adjust how we view the conning system works at the Incarnate level.

    Make sense?

I'm really not trying to be snarky. I really think this is the adjustment in perspective they're trying to achieve in the 'next level' of play. Otherwise, why would we face against a team of 6+ BOSS level characters as a single mob in a mission?

I also think it's the correct choice, and advise them to stay the course in this regard.

When we're 50(+5-6) or whatever in this system... I'm sure the AV's will be the new bosses while EB's will be the new Lt's in the 'solo system'... Where in the iTrials of that era level we fight against level 54 (+3-5's). It'll scale, it's just in how it's percieved.
Just pointing out that we do have Monster and Giant Monster class enemies, as well as those that have their own class, Hamidon being the obvious, and the Tutorial Monster cons as a 'Monstrosity'.

I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that more powerful enemies can fall under these categories.

If we just dress up the old AVs as EBs and have new AVs put in their place, we're not truly getting more powerful, we're just getting new enemies.
  2. My problem with that idea of "EBs are the representation of you getting stronger" argument is that it's a completely false feeling.

Incarnate abilities are supposed to make us stronger, supposed to make us more able to perform our super heroic (or villainous) duties. But the idea that an enemy has to be cut down to EB levels utterly falsifies that intention.

You might as well cut down the entire incarnate storyline and powers and just remove AVs from the game if that's your idea of getting more powerful.

Now, me? I'd like to actually get more powerful than get a handicap like having my enemies be underpowered.

Newsflash: DA is too easy for teams because it's not designed for teams. It's not designed for teams because it is intended to be the solo Incarnate tract.
    Take the hint.

Entitlement and spite to not make good design decisions.

I enjoy that he ignores the fact that everyone in this thread has said it should be optional, yet he insists that it will impact his own personal enjoyment of the encounters.

Fun logic you have there, dude. Can I borrow some of those crazy pills?

Far from my intention. But it's almost impossible to deny that a lesbian woman is far more acceptable than a gay man. And it's because of that fact that I say that it wouldn't mean quite as much if it were a woman that were gay. That's not to say we shouldn't have them, I mean, heck, I could already see Ice Mistral or Bobcat filling those roles.

I am in no way stating that a lesbian woman is inferior to a gay man, And I'll thank you to not put words in my mouth that make it seem that way. I can see how you would assume that, but it's just that, an assumption. And not accurate at all.

I would second this, but let's be honest... If they were to do this, it would just end up being a lipstick lesbian. And while I mean no disrespect to them, that's about the most cliche route you can go to represent the LGBT community.

Frankly, I don't think NC has the cajones to make a male NPC openly gay.

But heck, what do I know. At least I can represent some homosexual males in my own small way.

Just stopping in to say that, despite what that person told you, I have indeed seen and known people that have been generic'd for the very thing you're suggesting is okay.
  12. 1023 characters (which includes spaces) is not a novel, nor is it too much to read.

No one's going to get upset with you if you don't want to read all of it, but calling everyone out for using the space provided is kind of childish.
  13. I used to be head over heels in love with Mind Control. And I still think it's a great set.

But as of late, I'm starting to really love a certain melee set on beta right now

Oh, and I love both Willpower and Super Reflexes!
  14. That's based almost entirely on a case by case basis.

I have a sidekick character called Kid Australia. He has birthdays, and he matures as time goes by, but every year on that birthday, he never advances past the age of 17.

Another character is based on if I feel like he's had enough story and advancement to make him older. Currently he's 18, up from 17 last year, but he probably won't age this year as I haven't been able to play him as much as I like.

And yet another character ages in real time. She actually gets very little play time, but her story requires her to age. She's currently 27, and counting!
  15. I'm just going to leave this here, don my flamesuit, and leave.

  16. In my opinion, we're missing a lot of basic options.

Things like textures. A good example are the new CoT tights. They have a really defined texture, but the 'spikes' on it prevent it form being used for tights. If that makes sense.

We need more basic shoes as well. We have several boots, but they all go up to the knee. It would be nice to see a boot/shoe that only goes up to mid-calve. There could be a Skin and a Tights option for the rest of it, so that it would still work within the confines of the 'shoe' category and fit in with the rest of the options. Just an idea.

Same with gloves, we have a few half-gloves, but they are -all- skin above the glove. Makes it look very tacky when used with tights/sleeves.

And I remember this idea being made by someone awhile ago, but more cape mantles that could be placed into the Shoulders category.

EDIT: And yes, a MILLION times what GG said. We need better masks. Manticore has a mask that sits on top of his face, rather than is painted onto it. So it would seem possible, at least from this simple player's mind.
  17. My only real issue with KB is when it's uncertain. I -love- Force Bolt and Power Push. They're amazingly useful powers (especially a Dom's Power Push, but that's another dicussion...)

My problem is when a power has a chance to knockback. I can't stand that. If I could turn it off completely instead of having a chance, I'd gladly accept that.

Nothing in CoH bothers me more than a utility like that that only has a 30% chance to work. A damage chance/proc is different; that's a happy bonus that has no effect on me aside from purely killing faster. But when I only have fifty/fifty odds of knocking something, well that's just not useful. I'm always left thinking "Should I use my damage power here? They're facing a ledge... There's a chance they won't fly off it... but then again there's a chance they will... should I move? Should I use a different power? Should I play Russian Roulette and chance it?"

It leaves me feeling like my powers are so unpredictable that I'd rather just not use them, and opt for something more reliable.

And this is why I could never make an Energy Blast character...

    YMMV.

Heh. Try living in a city like Houston.

Everything owned by the city says "CoH" (City of Houston)... It's tough man... It's tough.
  19. I'm actually surprised they didn't use the Rib Cracker animation as the Assassin's Strike animation... because.. well let's face it.... That is one painful animation.

IIRC, you'll be able to right-click and remove any buff on you that isn't a toggle, and doesn't have a negative effect, like a crash.

Nit-pick: I'm pretty sure any AT in the game has that problem when you take away both of their powersets. :P

And in any case, a Dominator is actually quite survivable, you just need to use your control sets as an 'active defense'. And Domination does double-time as mez protection.

    Back on topic:

For me, it's Kheldians (they try to do too much, and end up not doing any of it well), and Stalkers (playstyle is just too unstable, and you're pretty SOL if you don't use a defense based set.) Sure you can use IOs to bridge the gap with either AT, but at the same time, other ATs can use IOs and be just as far ahead as before.

But I will say with absolute certainty that Masterminds are my MOST... HATED... AT... EVER. I can't stand to play them, they're so boring! "Press Attack my Target. Read Webpage for 5 minutes"

And Cold Domination. You have no idea how much I loathe those darn ice shields. Ugliest thing in the game, and it's only made worse by the fact that USUALLY when I get them put on me, it's when I'm just standing around talking to someone. Totally not needed, and just plain griefing. I'll be sooooo happy when I can drop those shields in I21.
  22. My only issue with this, aside from the obvious "They have that sewing machine hidden WHERE?" is the less obvious one.

Between training new heroes (that will be flooding in with I21), the player's natural desire to crowd around trainers during Zombie invasions, Rikti Invasions, and soon-to-be tailoring, these trainers are going to be absurdly crowded and may even get to the point that it's a hassle to do what they were meant to do in the first place: TRAIN UP.

Edit: A thought comes to mind, it's going to be awesome when people start using tailor-trainers for 30+ minutes working on a costume, and FINALLY finish it, come out of the editor and find themselves faceplanted in the middle of a Rikti invasion. I can't wait.
