Quote:Well then, to be fair. People running the league or making the rules shouldn't be participating in it. That causes biases to form. I mean really, just listening to some of this drama and I can already tell that some people are favoring certain teams because of their own bias then randomly making (or editing) the rules to fit their own objective. I dunno but something sounds wrong here. You are wrong, but that is nothing new. "Kat" is not willing to break rules she helped create or that she is supposed to be enforcing as a PVPEC Chair and risk a DQ for her team for you or any other ******** that thinks she should. "Kat" is more than happy to vote with a reasonable attendance/participation requirement.
PS. I just reactivated my account. Can I join? -

The Renegades are now recruiting anyone and everyone interested in high end PvP. Our hope is to bring everyone that is left into one group. The plan is that we will be able to have big internal matches that will be pretty even. We will also be able to train up newer players and talk about strat and builds. If we get big enough, we may even break off into small teams within the team for mini tourneys. I think there is alot of potential for those of us that are left to still have fun like this. Please post if you are interested, and plase be patient for me to get in touch with you. Thanks

I am interested, but i have a few questions. Sorry if it was mentioned before in another post, but I am at work and dont have time to read all the posts. Will this be on live or test? Will this be like kickball or will we be placed on teams based on skills? How often will we practice and fight? I am very interested and I wouldnt mind PvPing a lot.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is on test. We balance matches based on AT and skill. Practice is twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday starting at 9pm EST and goes until we don't have enough people to continue.
There is only one big drawback that was already mentioned... -
you only need 13.3 if you're a blaster with all the hp accolades.

Anyone else find it pretty stupid when we have to make a bunch of rules just for pvp to be fun?
-
Diminishing returns affects everything regardless of what level you, your enhancements, ally buffs, and enemy debuffs are.

Back when I played WoW... I remember pwning the crap out of everything that wasn't +10 to me. Then I somehow died in an elevator. Never lived that one down

champions soon...and aion after that!
[/ QUOTE ] Anyone else in the beta? -
Well that's probably because the devs didn't realize this bug existed, despite us bugging it, until that "pvp dev" tried to watch a match and couldn't because he wasn't in the same zone.
-
Short version:
I had a personal rule that if a player shows up, are ready, able, and willing, I will play them in an official match. It was more about fun for the team then winning at all costs.
So during a certain official match, I played every player on that was able to play (I actually did this every match except those few where a player said they didn't want to play). We won best of 3.
Drama breaks out. I get called a bad leader by certain individuals for letting those same individuals play. All the leaders get called bad leaders for using bad lineups, when we used the standard.
And after all that somehow ownage becomes god's gift to pvp. -
It may be bugged. I noticed that there are quite a few powers like that. It could also be a bug with the combat attributes since that is oh so accurate...

what does 0.00%% chance for +100.00% DropToggles on target mean?
[/ QUOTE ] It means you have a 0% chance to drop toggles. It's probably leftover code from back before they removed toggle dropping. -
Drama... like the time I got called a bad leader for letting everyone in my SG play and still win?
-
Let me just save some time and answer #6. Yes you are.
-
At least they didn't delete your toons (without warning) then 3dayholiday/ban your account...
I left for while after the pvp changes but I came back to play with the architect and this is what I get.
I'm done with this game. At least there's other games coming out soon. Those don't seem to have retarded devs. -
I'm still against it because it doesn't change a damn thing. You go from one side to the other. The only reason stalkers are popular is because they do the most reliable burst damage . Remove the bonus resistance and stalkers are replaced with blasters because blasters will do the most damage in that situation. And if you want to counter blasters, you have to give up ALOT to do that in 5v5s.
There is no enforcement either. Banning an unbroken power does nothing to help the situation. -
[ QUOTE ]
Cant you see the devs changed it to bring more people to the PVP portion of the game. I13 tried to lvl out the playing field a bit. More people tried pvp some stayed some left. I14 added pvp IO's to give people a reason to come and pvp and get a reward that can only be dropped from killing other players. More people showed up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Where are these people these changes are made for? i13 did not level any playing field. There are still builds that vastly outperform anything else and teams are very limited in the sets they use.
PvP IO's did not bring more people, they brought more farmers. More farming does not equate to more pvp.
[ QUOTE ]
Skill still wins out. I13 just separated the skilled players from the ones who thought they were good but in fact were just riding the fotm gravy train.
[/ QUOTE ]
This isn't true most of the time. Now, more than ever, the fotm gravy train wins over skill. At least before, any build could compete depending on the players skill. Now it doesn't matter. Real balanced right there. -
I only read page 1 and 9. I didn't bother reading anything else because it's all the same crap since i13 beta.
The only time any half decent player would die quickly in i12 was if there was a team (2-4 people) attacking you or a good AS+followup. So unless you're constantly pwning noobs or horrible players, people should not be dying that fast. Survival used to take skill. It's now become phase or die and hope they aren't smart enough to phase and kill you.
The old system rewarded teamwork and coordination. The new system rewards whoever can mash buttons faster. Buffs, debuffs, control, and disruption do not play a significant role anymore. Damage and HP are the only things that matter. This is further proven by the fact that an uncoordinated team of 5 blasters beat a coordinated team of 3 blasters and 2 emps in a DR ON no suppression match. All I did was target whoever I wanted and pressed buttons until they died. In the old system, that would never be viable. In the old system, the only chance 5 blasters had against 3 blasters+2 emps is coordination and very very good survival skills. Or the team with more skill won.
What we have now involves minimal skill and more luck. At least in i12 I had to actually think in order to defeat my opponent. Now, all I do is: TAB 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, TAB, repeat until I die. I don't need to think about how to attack, when to attack, how to chase, and how to evade. I just find anyone and attack until one of us loses.
Super fun if you ask me. /sarcasm -

Tell me this, in fact tell all of us, how has Suppression, DR, Heal Decay, Mez Resistance, removal of -Max Run Speed and overpowered NPCs helped to make PvP viable and fun for all ATs?
[/ QUOTE ]
3 posts in a row just to ask this? How weak considering its already been answered. And ironically by one of those fluffy pad posts of yours: Simple, to slow it down.
[/ QUOTE ]
Weak? Your entire counter argument is because you couldn't keep up, it had to be slowed down. That's like saying the NBA should ban people taller than 6ft because you aren't tall enough. -
yes, except sonic blasters do well because of DR and suppression. In no DR/suppression matches.. blasters are pretty useless.
-
My inv/ss/earth tank can now 3 shot stalkers from range. An uncoordinated 5 blaster team is now better than a balanced and coordinated 5 player team. Are those are good starts?
-
Resistance debuffs always worked like that. That's why defenders were >>> corruptors before unresisted debuff nerf.
And you don't get hit by a straight -200. You get hit by several different -20s or -30s, which are all resisted. They each add on to whatever they debuff though.
So if you have 90% resistance (capped at 75%) and get hit by a resisted resistance debuff that brings you down to say 85%, you're still capped at 75%. Then you get hit by another debuff which then debuffs your 85% to say 78%. The second debuff does more because it's less resisted (90% vs 85%). So each debuff after that will debuff for more. So you have to stack a retarded amount of resisted resistance debuffs to lower a target's resistance to a relatively low level.
