We were told that this wasn't as simple as the others to add, but something they'd eventually try to do IIRC.
[/ QUOTE ]
Uhm...
Please go back and read Positron's post that I linked to. That's not what we were told.
Anyway, I often wonder why none of the old missions have been added to Ouroboros. Positron did say that he'd do his best. I wonder what it was that was so powerful that it prevented him from succeeding... -

In game '/bug' reports go directly to QA in Austin, who shuffle through them, verify them, and add them into our bug tracking database before sending them our way where they get doled out to individuals to fix. That process can take a long time.

Oh man...
I love BackAlleyBrawler, I really really do.
You just know that there's a NCSoft public relations/marketing guy somewhere going; "He said WHAT?!?!?!??"
LoL! Please don't ever change BaBs. -
Back in February of 2008 Positron mentioned that if we let him know which missions we'd like added to the Flashbacks that he'd "do my best to get them there."
In that thread a number of things were mentioned, mostly Safeguard and Mayhem missions. I'd also like to recommend Rikti zone invasions and Zombie zone invasions be placed in the flashback system as well. That way those who want to relive those zone invasions can, while those who hate the lag aren't inconvienced by them. Those special holiday missions that we get in Pocket D could also be added to Flashbacks. The Calvin Scott Task Force should also be added to Ouroboros. (Yes, I'm aware of coding issues with the Calvin Scott TF, that doesn't invalidate anything else in this post.)
Anyway, my point is that none of the missions that we asked for have been added to the Flashback system. In fact with the exception of the new storyarcs that have been added to the game since Flashback came into existence, no missions have been added the Flashback system at all.
So... sometimes I wonder if none is really Positron's best effort. -
C'mon man...
You know we ain't getting nothing for bases until Sunstorm gets his.
This week's scoop issue was good! The funniest part was where I had to stop reading and google "Bastille Day". -
[ QUOTE ]
These were never told to us as anything but temp powers.

Well, except for Positron's post right here where he specifically says that they are working on adding jetpacks into the game.
I used to have a link that was even older where JLove said he was exhausted from the 30+ jetpacks that he just got done creating for the game. That post has long since been deleted in the many forum purges. -
Thanks MI!
It's nice to know that I'm not crazy. Ok, well it's nice to know that my memory was correct. Better?
Anyway, is that it? A story in the Paragon Times? I was under the impression that something in game was planned for them.
I don't mean to seem ungrateful MI. Thanks for the link, I appreciate it. -
I seem to remember a thread from a few years ago started by a redname (BackAlleyBrawler IIRC) asking people for screenshots of the Warriors from in game. I believe some hints were made that it might be in regards to a possible secret project, etc...
I always wanted to see the Warriors get some improvements. They're one of the groups that I like in game and I think that it's just a shame seeing them get punked by the Freakshow and Tsoo all the time, especially in their home turf - New Sparta. Perhaps that's why it's still in my memory. I've been waiting and wondering if anything would ever come of that.
Does anyone else besides me remember this? Am I just crazy? -
Dear Russian Babes,
You already tanked Venture's last thread by filling it with a thousand posts. Will you please show us the courtesy of not filling this thread with a thousand or more posts as well?
May I suggest that you go start your own thread so that those of us who'd like to read Venture's reviews can do so without having to skip past a thousand of your posts as well?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
[The Ace of Spades] -
Normally I agree with every word you post Robo, but not on this. In the real world stuff costs money. That's just how the real world operates.
Now Niviene, where do I go to purchase my Base Builders Giant Add-On Booster Pack? My Credit Card is waiting. -

Hey! Do i look like im an american or a british? I do my best with your strange language and if you rate my writing 2 stars, i am not too much disapointed. It means im gettin better haha

You know the funny thing is that I am American, and I'm so used to my fellow Americans and their unwillingness to correctly use our language that I didn't even notice that your grammar wasn't perfect.
May I ask what your native language is? -
[ QUOTE ]
Insulting me won't get you anywhere...
[/ QUOTE ]What I said was really really not intended as an insult. It was intended as a statement of fact, and that's what it is. While I realize that this is the internet and so people are prone to take offense at the slightest provocation, the fact is that a simple IF/THEN statement is not an insult. For example: IF you intentionally refuse to ever give people a decent rating even though you know they deserve one THEN you're being a jerk. <--- There's no insult there, this is a simple statement of fact. Notice that I did not say that you were doing this, and I did not say you were being a jerk, because I do not know what you're actually doing.
[ QUOTE ]
I've yet to give anyone 5 stars cause I've always found something I didn't care for.
[/ QUOTE ]That's completely understandable. "I haven't given anyone 5 stars yet" is a far far cry from "nobody deserves 5 stars."
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not screwing nobody over because I don't give them 5 stars...
[/ QUOTE ]You are absolutely correct! You are not screwing people over if you don't give their story-arc 5 stars. However, if you refuse to ever give anyone 5 stars ever no matter how good their story is, no matter how much you like it, no matter what else ad infinitum (as some posters have implied) then you are screwing over at least some of the MA writers. You're not stupid, you know this. Let's not argue semantics.
I think that this discussion gives some credence to the claim that the amount of people that are actively griefing is actually very small. I for one believe that the majority of the time writers are either upset that someone dared to give them less than 5 stars and/or people out there just don't understand how a 5 star rating system is supposed to work. -
[ QUOTE ]
Blue Steel is included for a very specific reason though. Every time your villain triumphs over and captures a well known NPC Hero, it is always Blue Steel that breaks them free. His meddling must be brought to an end!
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, that makes sense. You absolutely have to have Hardcase in this story-arc though. He is easily the most hated contact villainside. His presence is non-negotiable. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, i might give it 5 stars if it was the very very very best story ever but to me it is like giving a 10 at the olympic games for gymnastic or artistic skating. It is very unlikely.
[/ QUOTE ]Hey, unlikely is fine. 5 stars is supposed to be the best after all. But, the 5th star is meant to be used, so refusing to ever use it does defeat the purpose of even having it in the game.
Please remember what I said, if nothing is ever perfect then 5 stars obviously does not mean perfect. A 5 star rating is supposed to be an attainable goal, and since Micheal Crichton, Stephen King, David Weber, Harold Coyle and Tom Clancy probably don't play CoH/V then you simply can not expect a player written story-arc to live up to their standard of writting.
[ QUOTE ]
We all have our own criterias.
[/ QUOTE ]Well yeah, except that "I never give nothing 5 stars cause ain't nothing perfect" is not a criteria. It's a "I'm gonna [censored] over every player whose arc I play." Look, I'm not saying that you have to 5 star something because anyone else says so, not even because I say so, but it has to at least be a possibility.
[ QUOTE ]
Too bad the rating system doesnt work with a 1 to 10 value. Id probably never give 10s but i might give 9,8 and 7s quite often.
[/ QUOTE ]So you're going to punish the arc writers because you don't like the rating system that the devs set up? Look, the highest rating of a rating system does not mean perfect. As you yourself have pointed out no human being is perfect, and since the 5th star is meant to be used then refusing to use it is unreasonable.
Look at it this way, a 4 in a 5 star system is the same as either a 7 or an 8 in a 10 star system. So a 5 out of 5 is either a 9 or a 10. So since you'd award 9s then you can feel free to award 5s. Not often mind you, but the possibility should exist. -
I myself would love to see this.
If done well I know that my friends would also be interested in running it also.
I'd like to recommend dropping Blue Steel though, his presence seems to break with the premise of thumping villainous contacts that have played you. I don't know right now who to nominate as a replacement though. -
[ QUOTE ]
Please, show me this. Really.
[/ QUOTE ]I seem to recall that Super Reflexes wasn't nerfed 4 times because it was considered too powerful, whereas Regen was.
However, I was merely being flip and if I am wrong then I am wrong. I stand corrected.
On a serious note though, don't all of the armor sets have a weakness, a "kryptonite" if you will? If Regen was given debuff resistance wouldn't that make it the only set without such a weakness? -
First of all the post that you're responding to was directed to Mr_DJ, not to you. Just so you know, I wasn't accusing YOU of anything.
[ QUOTE ]
YOU do not decide for me what is worth 5 stars or not.
[/ QUOTE ]I don't think that anyone here ever said that they do get to decide for you, I know that I certainly did not. If you read my post you will notice that I specifically said; "...in your opinion." Do you understand what the words "in your opinion" mean? I'll give you a hint, they do not mean "I get to decide for you."
[ QUOTE ]
I will not give 5 stars to something because all players before me decided to do so. I do not give a damn about what other players thinked about a story and how they rated it.
[/ QUOTE ]Also I never said that you have to rate an arc with 5 stars just because others have done so. Make no mistake, if 5,238,066 people give an arc 5 stars and you give it a 1 that is not griefing if you honestly didn't like that story-arc. But if you refuse to ever ever ever ever give any story-arc 5 stars then you either do not understand how the rating system works or you are griefing.
[ QUOTE ]
I never give a 5 and i never give a 1.
[/ QUOTE ]Here's the question then: If you played a story-arc and you honestly thought that it was the best story-arc that you've ever played in City of Heroes, would you give it 5 stars? -
Dear Castle,
I know that Regeneration can, if played correctly, be the most powerful scrapper secondary in the game. However that isn't good enough for me. I've noticed that it has one minor weakness, and instead of taking the time to cover that weakness with IOs, like every other armor set in the entire game has to, I'd prefer if you just changed the set so that Regeneration has no weaknesses whatsoever.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Noobz McGee
P.S. Can someone please show me where the 'Spellcheck' button is? -
[ QUOTE ]
He said, "Sunstorm popped in and basically told us nothing for bases until at least middle of 2010." which was total B.S.
[/ QUOTE ]
What you're doing is called "arguing semantics", if you don't know what that means then feel free to look it up.
In the American version of the English language the phrase "basically said" or the first person plural version "basically told us" means: These are very specifically not the exact words that he used, but this is the shorter and simpler version of what I believe he meant.
I've already explained why I believe that we won't be getting anything new for bases until at least 2010, something that you'd know if you'd actually read that thread beyond your childish attempt to call me on the carpet for my "lies", which are nothing of the sort.
By the way Ironblade, if you actually cared about base construction you'd post in that thread and thank Sunstorm for taking the time to respond. Remember, he doesn't have to ever tell us anything. I didn't like what he wrote, but at least he was kind enough to respond to my PM and post something. At least we don't have to wonder anymore, at least now we know. -
[ QUOTE ]
so it doesn't make sense to you that I don't believe anything is perfect?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it does not make sense. I'll explain why.
If by definition nothing is perfect, then by definition a 5 star rating does not mean perfect. The rating system has 5 stars, each of which represents 20% of the maximum possible rating. If you rate a story-arc with 5 stars it means that the story-arc is in the top 20% of story-arcs in the Mission Architect in your opinion. That's all that it means. 5 stars does not mean it is perfect.
If you're refusing to give 5 stars to any story-arc then you either do not understand what a 5 star system is supposed to be OR you are intentionally griefing others by refusing to give 5 stars to the story-arcs that deserve to have 5 stars. In other words: if you're playing MA story-arcs and intentionally refusing to give any of them 5-stars, then are either an idiot or you are griefing.
So which one is it? -
[ QUOTE ]
i would pay out the censored for a stand alone base editor and the ability to upload/share with others.
[/ QUOTE ]I'd pay $50 for one of those. Assuming that it also came with a complete overhaul and upgrade for bases.
[ QUOTE ]
I would pay even more than that to have a redname give us a heads up on whats to come for bases.
[/ QUOTE ]You should check out my thread "Has it really been Seven Months?"
Sunstorm popped in and basically told us nothing for bases until at least middle of 2010. -
[ QUOTE ]
You keep saying that like you think it will magically turn out to be true. Anyhow, I'm tired of you trying to justify your cowardice. Feel free to keep talking but I don't see any reason to listen.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's no cowardice about it. It's about hassle. If I send you a comment then I might get hassled by you. I don't know you. I don't want to get hassled. I just want to have fun playing the game. I don't want the person that I send a comment to to send me 15 angry responses back. I don't want them to come rate-grief my arc.
BTW, when I rated your arc earlier today and sent you my comments you were much more courteous than you've been in this thread. Given what I've seen in this thread I'm surprised that you didn't try to rip my head off when I gave your arc MacGuffin Delivery Service #1567 only 4 stars.
I gave it 4 stars because I honestly don't feel that it deserved 5 stars. I also gave you some feedback, because I wanted to, and NOT because you deserved it. Make no mistake, those stars are there so I can help other players decide if they want to run your arc. The feedback option is there in case I feel like sending you feedback. And even if I only give you 1 star you do not deserve any feedback from me or anyone else. You deserve nothing from me. You get feedback if I feel like sending it. I owe you nothing, period.
It's not my job to help you fix your story-arc, that's your job. It's not my job to help you get into the Hall of Fame, that's your job. It doesn't matter if I give you 3 stars or 2 stars or even 1 star. No matter how many stars I do or do not give you, I owe you nothing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Apparently I got Sonnenblume correct, because a while back someone asked me if I was German.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, you got it correct. Sonnenblume means Sunflower, singular. Sonnenblumen means Sunflowers, plural.
As for the topic, I understand the lure of coming back to the game and not having lost your characters or names, but after a few years yeah... sorry. I think those people should not be able to name-camp until the end of time. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah they listened so well when people told them repeatedly all the problems with MA...
Be realistic here. By the time it goes to beta, it's pretty much a done deal unless Arcanaville shows them a game breaking bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
While one side insists that the devs never listen to us, and the other insists that they listen to us all the time, the truth is somewhere in between.
The real question should be: Do the devs listen to us often enough, and about the right things?
Sure, when a bunch of people post on the forums that they want an insta-50 button the devs should ignore that request. And when people post (in the normal or beta forums) that X-Y-Z huge game mechanic change must be put in place, and the devs know that they're down to a 2 week window to go live, then maybe that request should be ignored as well.
But there have been times when the devs have listened to us when we really wanted a big game mechanic change (i.e. delaying the MA), and then ignored us when the change we wanted was minor and really shouldn't add any time at all to the go live time of an issue. Like fixing a spelling error, or changing the phrasing of a sentence, or having storage hold 50 pieces of salvage instead of 30. So the real problem (IMHO) is that when the devs listen to us and when they don't appears to be completely random. Now I'm certain that is not the actual case, but since we players are operating out here in front of the curtain we can't see what's going on behind the scenes. And since we're generally not told why a decision was made it causes it to appear random.
People generally don't like and become frustrated with events that are completely random. We've even gone so far as to invent a word that does nothing but describe people in a disparaging manner that act the way devs actions appear to us. That word is: capricious. I would even go so far as to say that many people post on the forums (and certainly in the testing forums) because they'd like to think that there is a chance that they can in some way influence the decisions made by the developers.
With the exception of Arcanaville (whom most of us have no hope of imitating) the devs have shown us that they do not care about the opinion of any single customer. Which is fine, you have 100k+ customers then why should you care about the opinion of just one of them? Especially when that one customer is nutting up on your forum about something silly every other week. But then completely out of the blue one single customer posts; "It'd sure be nice if we could see how long our characters have been logged out for in the character selection screen", and a dev immediately posts in response; "Done." (Yes, this actually happened)
So IMHO the real problem is that dev response to the things that we ask for on the forum appears to be capricious and random. I believe that's where a lot of the frustration is coming from, on both sides. -
[ QUOTE ]
Glad someone linked that because I was about to say "uh...did you even look?"

Nice guide. Uhm... yes, I actually did look. I actually looked right here in the official Scrapper Guides and FAQs thread. With Ex and Lighthouse both gone though I'm guessing that it's no longer being maintained as your guide isn't in that list.
Thanks for linking John_Printemps's guide here BrokenPrey. I'll be writing the Fire/Shield guide, and I'll probably advise the reader to look at your guide too John_Printemp. -

We already have a place that you can go to that will give you a fun and interesting game experience that is different from all of the developer content, that also gives no XP.
It's called the Arena.
Maybe you've heard of this Arena. Statistically speaking it's unlikely that your character has ever been in one though. The Arenas are dead. I wonder why that is.
If you kill XP in the AE it'll quickly become as dead and empty as the Arena. The devs know this, which is why they've attempted to discourage powerleveling, rather than simply remove XP altogether.
