I opted for Gravimetric snare after experimentation with slotting proc IOs, and so I 5-slotted the Gravitational Anchor purple set in there (including the 33% chance to hold one), as well as putting the Devastation Chance to Hold in there. More often than not, I'll see a hold pop off on a boss that I use that power on, especially if I use Gravimetric snare in rapid succession with Gravity Well (a hold power in and of itself, as well as having a Lockdown Chance to hold in it). That means using Gravimetric Snare and Gravity Well in rapid succession will have no less than three chances to hold working together with Gravity Well's own Mag 3 hold... I haven't come across a boss yet that can't be held, and that includes the Cimeroran bosses. A hell of a lot of damage mitigation if you ask me--especially if your eclipse has dropped, and you're only fighting "that one boss" left from a mob you just took down. It provides you just enough damage mitigation to prevent having to activate Eclipse again until you reach the next full mob.
On the Dark Extraction question...
I say any resistance is better than no resistance. As a side note, the Sovereign Right resistance IO actually has a larger resistance area covered than Expedient Reinforcement's resistance aura. Therefore, if I weren't building for global recharge, and I had the choice between the sets, I'd actually go for the Sovereign Right set for the larger resistance AoE. However, this being a Kheldian, I went for the set that provided me more global recharge.
Now, on my ACTUAL build (the more expensive one) that's running right now on Alien, I opted for the Soulbound Allegiance set, but still kept the resistance bonus, because let's face it... 10% extra resistance may mean 1 more shot my pet can pull off before he goes down for the count. And that 1 more shot may be the difference between whether or not I can provide enough damage (in an extreme situation) to survive.
In my opinion, a Warshade's best means of damage mitigation (besides his various little tools and IOs you can use to hold/stun) is to take a mob down before they can take him down. That's why you build for global recharge (and in my case, damage bonuses) on a Warshade.
Here's what is actually running on Alien set-wise (notice I actually have BOTH resistance IOs in there...It's no Eclipse hit on a full mob, but 20% resistance in every category is better than 0% resistance in every category!):

*EDIT*
Also worth noting that there are level 40 IOs in this build.... I built this build to be exemp-able to level 40+ without losing any enhancement for a power. My tri-form shade build is built to be exemp-able all the way down to the Positron TF without losing a single enhancement for a power. Anytime I play level 15-39 content, I play my tri-form build, and any time I play level 40+ content, I use my human-form build--with a few exeptions (tanking the last mission on an STF, for example).
Here's how I have my tri-form build set up on AlienOne:

Sorry, I've had some overwhelming things happen to me lately (today being no exception), and thus have not had as much time as I would like to have had to spend on the boards. I won't go into detail about it, but suffice it to say that not having a job for a long, long, long time (and not for any lack of looking for one) had something to do with it.
I think the human-only guide for Warshades would be entirely too long if I had posted the long-form version of all 11 or so builds--especially since I've been working on not only updating/expanding the warshade section, but also expanding the guide to include human-only Peacebringer play...
That said, now that I have a tiny bit of time, I'm more than happy to post builds 2 and 4.

It's important to note that my warshade is no longer currently running the build slotting that I mentioned in the guide, due to recently acquired knowledge of procs--regardless of cheap build or not, which is one of the main reasons I need to update/expand the guide.
I'll also give you a "cheap version" build of the slotting that's actually on my warshade right now, so you can see the difference in the "leadership" builds then and now:

Freedom is fine, as long as there are enough willing people to participate... The main point of this was to get the "Kheld heavy-hitters" together for some fun and mutual learning off of eachother, and to just plain play together for once... I can get an all-Kheld iTF together on Freedom with almost no warning or scheduling whatsoever at any time... I was mainly trying to get everyone I normally talk with in this section of the forums here together for some in-game play/discussion, before the "free server transfer" offer goes away (possibly for good).
Up to you guys!
"Alien" -
Many thanks to ShoeTatoo for showing up!
I'm back on Freedom, since there doesn't seem to be anyone showing up...
"Alien" -
Where's everyone at? So far, it's just ShoeTatoo and myself....
"Alien" -
K, guys... I'm about to switch over to Champion... be there in a sec! 8D
"Alien" -
Yeah, good times.... I forgot to have the option enabled to record my mic, so you can't hear what I'm saying.... But, what made it funny was towards the end, I was concentrating more on figuring out where I could draw the best Eclipse, while I was telling him, "You know, we should try stealthing this mission to find Bobcat to see if we can take her...", not realizing I actually had Bobcat targeted while I was saying those very words. His reaction is "I'd be up for that," and about that time, I say "Oh, SH**! That IS Bobcat!", at which point he says "Where? Oh, sh**, she just killed me!"
Fun times...
"Alien" -
I'll be on tomorrow by 8 or 9 PST (11 or 12 EST) on Champion....
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I'd say it's pretty Kheld-friendly on Freedom.... There's a lot of people I know and talk to every day that like to joke with me about "lolKhelds," but in actuality, they don't hesitate for a second to team up with me when I'm forming a Task Force...
If the person is being truly hateful, then yes, definitely ignore the person and move on. Otherwise, chalk it up to some friendly Kheld-ribbing and play along... They may want to team with you more if you show you have a bit of a sense of humor, since you play a Kheld....
I also know that Infinity has an all-Kheld SG that's led by LordXenite, so that server is most likely Kheld-friendly as well... Not sure about others.

Quote:Yeah, if you used the SO/IO builds in my guide, it's still a good idea to invest in a KB protection IO... It's invaluable. If you have absolutely no money, the cheapest one you can get is a Karma to place in your Shadow Cloak... If you have a tad bit more money, you can get the Steadfast Protection KB one, which is 1 mag higher protection (always a good thing!)... Or if you have money to burn, you can always get the KB protection IO from the Blessing of the Zephyr set.I started up a warshade using Alienone's guide, which is fantastic. I'm not rich by any means so I use SO's and some IO's. I hit level 38 and was excited for eclipse but everytime I jump into a group, fire off my attack chain, I inevitably get knocked on my behind or mez'd or verbally abused by the mob. So my questions are:
Do I invest in a knockback proc for KB? Do I have to buy IO sets for mez protection? or do I just need to adjust my tactics? What are my options?
Any advice, builds or experiences would be appreciated.
As for the mez issue, there's not a heck of a lot you can do about that (if you're not taking Dwarf form), other than packing some break-frees before you head into the mission.
If you followed my build pretty close, then you should have super speed and shadow cloak running at the same time before you enter a mob, which should afford you just enough time to hit your eclipse before the mob even knows you're there. However, I will add that if you're also running Orbiting Death and Inky Aspect like I do, you need to be ready to hit your Eclipse IMMEDIATELY upon hitting the center of the group, because it won't matter if you're stealthed or not once those two powers start ticking on the mob. SS + Shadow Cloak usually affords you approximately 1 second to activate Eclipse if you have your OD + IA running as well.
It takes a little bit of practice to get good at activating your Eclipse properly every time it comes up, and that includes making the decision on whether or not you SHOULD activate it again if only 2 are left standing in a mob, or if you should wait to activate it on the next mob for a better resistance hit. That'll be a gamble you'll have to take on your own, and that sort of timing/split-second decision play is part of the reason why I like to play my Warshade so much. Practice, practice, practice!
Once you get good at activating your Eclipse, mez issues won't be as much of a bother. It'll still be a bother, because mez is...well....mez. But, if you've got a full eclipse and you're capped on resistances, it won't be a "oh, no, I'm going to die" situation if you get mezzed... It'll be more of a: *sigh* "Not again...." situation.
Only suggestion I have for verbally abusive mobs is to come up with witty comebacks... Makes me feel better anyway... Just yesterday, an enemy told me "You're about to enter a world of pain!", so I just responded in local chat, "I already told your sister I wasn't interested in dating, so I think you're mistaken."
He didn't respond.

Quote:Actually, that sounded more like a PvP post than any other post in this thread...You know, I realize that English is likely not your first language, since by appearances you have no idea what some common terms mean, so I would suggest you step away from this thread before people mistake you for a pvp'er.
Also, you may be interested in learning about a new and evidently alien concept for you, available at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logic
It's good reading. You learn neat things like just because you say something, it doesn't make it true. Especially when things that are said as idiotic as the things you've been saying.

Heh. I play a Kheld, so I get used to having more powers than I have trays.
Here's how I arrange my powers when I'm on my tri-form WS build...
Tray 1: Nova form (toggle and attacks) and opening attack chain human-form powers
Tray 2: Dwarf form (toggle and attacks) and human-form toggle powers
Tray 3: My "awesome button powers" (Stygian Circle, Eclipse, Sunless Mire), rez, phase, tp friend, minor (2ndary) human form attack powers, and other self heal
Tray 4: Temporary attack/shield powers awarded through mission play and Rest
Tray 5: Temporary costume toggles and other miscellanious temporary powers
Tray 6: Accolades, pet power, assist teammate (Stimulant, Rez) powers, tp enemy, and auto-activated Hasten
Tray 7: All travel powers (WWs, Base, Pocket D, Mission Transport, Assemble the Team, etc.), Self-destruct, Vet defense pet, and Fortune Teller power
Tray 8: Jump pack, Jet pack(s), Warburg Nukes, Ethereal Shift, etc.
Tray 9: Barely-to-never-used temp powers (teammate assist powers bought from bartender during Valentine's Day events, etc.)
If I chose to place Brawl, my inherent origin attack, and all my "prestige" run powers, I'd have all 9 trays filled....and then some. However, I try to keep those out for other future temp powers awarded via missions...

If you can get whoever has my name taken on Infinity to change their name, I'll make a Kheld to join that SG...
"Alien" -
Well, this thread got me in the mood to challenge myself a lot more, so I figured I'd go ahead and post a screenie of my latest challenge: to solo the Manticore TF....
Many thanks to Fluffy Duchess, 1HottScreamer, Lady Firedragon, and Aries Knight for cheering me on during this challenge (and leeching merits too)
Hopkins was a bit of trouble...I wound up having to make a trip to Ouro to stock on inspirations before I could take him down on the 2nd try....
Definitely fun to do though...
Anyone else tried playing their Khelds on extreme challenges? I wanna hear about it!
"Alien" -
Yeah, saw it a while back... Still just as funny as it was then... I wish there were more episodes!

Quote:My human-only Warshade guideWell, after playing CoX since '05 and having multiple 50's I finally want to run a Warshade =]
I was just wondering though, is it possible to get a Human-Form Warshade to have a "Close-To-Scrapper" kind of build? Close range, up close and personal kind of tactics. If not, its totally cool, I just seem to have favored the Scrapper playstyle in my four years of playing.
Thanks a ton guys!
Scrapper-style gameplay with a human-only Warshade (no "darting in and out of combat" required)
...try not to fall asleep to the trance music (OceanLab)... Was just what I happened to have playing at the time I did that iTF, and I didn't realize that Fraps was also recording the music I was listening to... Oops!
Have fun!

LoL, ok, List edited....
Unless otherwise specified, we'll be going for Dec. 26th and 27th (I'm available any time of either of those two days) on Champion.
Let's go for some "normal" radio missions in PI first to get the hang of playing with eachother, then we can move on to higher diff settings, the iTF, etc., etc.
"Alien" -
List so far is as follows:
Champion:
1. Alien
2. Memphis Bill
3. DebtLover
4. ShoeTattoo
5. Justaris
6. Nericus
7. Dechs Kaison
8.
9.
10.
Who else? 8D
"Alien" -
Bring it on.
I'll take more people on Freedom any day of the week... More population = more chances to team = better overall play experience for me!!!
"Alien" -
I would most DEFINITELY be Hero One.
All my "One" characters in-game have their biographies based off of or related to him in some way, his entire storyline is awesome, and I love that outfit!
"Alien" -
Ok, the post has been modified to add your names...
I think now that the "general consensus" (for the most part) is Champion as a starting point, we can start discussing days/times...
This really is the ideal time, as *most* people have some "off time" from work for the holidays... What about the weekend after Christmas? After you've already gone through the "hoop-la" of Christmas with your families? Would you still have a day or two off work after that to work in a "Kheldian Day?"
"Alien" -
Yes.
Probably not with most of the Kheldian community, but...
Yes. I'd be lying if I said no.
"Alien" -
Soon as we can get Tammy talked into it. I think several of us have played together enough now to warrant a shot at gettin' an Mo with an all-rad team...
We'll see...
