My list too - and late last night I came across yet another great Harry Potter artist, so... +added... sigh Lol!

There is an awesome Potter artist I've seen on DA named Makani. Have you seen her work?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, I follow her and several others already. The one I found last night was a little rougher, but had a similar feel to her art. Laerry - http://laerry.deviantart.com/

  4. I'm not even sure how many people have posted and qualify - since there's 2 pages already I suspect that I'd be out of luck. However....

    Lethe.
To slack the rest of my life and still feel like I've accomplished something.
I have no favorite - I love them all. Plus, I was front-row-center for their SDSU amphetheater performance at their Oh No Not Another 20th anniversary tour show and Ian Anderson SWEATED ON ME. Top that.

  6. It's a nice start, though a bit sparse. You might want to download the COH fan kit, which has images and logos and the like.

Also, did you take the photographs of women's faces that go with these? If you did, that's great but if not you *must* link to their owner's site (and have permission to use them).

Otherwise, it's a nice idea and a good start!
  7. Regardless of whether it started out what you wanted, these have all been excellent manips!
  8. Awwww how do I follow that one up!

    Happy birthday! /e cheer

    Not to offend.

To be fair to both the OP for posting, and the person who did the toon?

It has gotten a lot of people to look up who it was referencing, and to make their own minds up about it. Instead of just seeing some burning guy on the steps now they know. I think that makes it a slightly more meaningful - if still a bit tacky - gesture.

    I know, I couldn't help it.
  11. Wow those all turned out really good! Stained glass is difficult, you're doing really well especially if those are only your first pieces.

  13. Elfquest, Superheros and Pern = lurve! You might click on the link in my siggy to reach my elfquest-like world and get on the list to become a character in my world

I like your color work! Pencils are always fun, they blend nicely enough and they don't leave so much schmutz on the page like pastels.

  15. One thing to try when you're not sure if there are pose mistakes in a picture: Hold it up to the light, and turn the paper around so you're seeing a reverse image. For some reason, that will often jar you into seeing something that's not at the right angle or doesn't match up.
  16. Um - arm. broken. Ow. ow ow ow.

Other than that, this one's worlds better than the first!

On the subject of "being stylized" let me say this as an artist as well as a retailer of comics. One must be able to draw the human form *as it exists* first, before taking liberties and have those liberties work properly. Cartoonists *do not* start out drawing silly loopy figures with exaggerated eyes and mouths - they start by learning the basics and THEN moving on into the overdone bits. All too many folks that I saw in the 90s and early 00s in my comic store learned to draw from reading manga and american comics. They didn't learn how to do proportions and thus *will probably never* be able to do them well enough to do an un-exaggerated, simple figure.

Not trying to adopt a holier than thou attitude (if I sound like I'm lecturing about it) but I think Coldfire, you've got a LOT of potential and talent. Learn the basics and make them work for you first. Then allow for new things like changing proportions and sizes. Trust me. Professional artists had to learn the old fashioned way, and it's still the best way. Learning how to see shapes form into finished people is something I did in that time, learning from a Jim Lee interview and watching him draw a perfect, beautiful face. I hadn't used shapes like squares or triangles to imagine a face or body before then - but once I did that it all became more clear to me how the relationship of proportion and angle makes such a huge difference.
  17. It's too bad that you won't have time to work on something big

Coldfire is excellent, the proportions are great, and it's a more natural looking pose.

Becky on the other hand needs some work in terms of proportions and posture. Her head is about 3 times too small for her height and body. Rounding out the height with hair just don't cut it Her arms are way thin - especially if she's hefting a sword (even a small one). I'm not a big fan of the 'resting a sharp object on my shoulder' thing, though I know it's common enough in major art - it would cut her in half Basically check out a baseball player or cricket player to get a pose similar to that one, and see how the hips tilt. Pretty much the proportions on arms, fingers and head are off. Otherwise I like her face, shadowed and moody. She looks like a cool character in any case.

Keep drawing! Any opportunity to draw is good
  18. Yeah I noticed that earlier. It's gotten to the point every once in a while that if it looks like that'll come up, I just switch to something else to do online. Sometimes I think they don't know how to get servers to work, there... I mean... COH servers have been running for 33 months solid, with maybe what a couple days downtime total. You'd think that their site would be better off split up among more *well connected* servers. (Ever notice how a lot of the delays are in their one /address/ for advertisements?
  19. Nah it's never premature. This means we all can create more informative bios and such, better screenies of the characters, and you can rest up for doing it later

Work sucks! I don't work. lol.
  20. hee!

Zek or Zeke or Zeki, they work too. Ezekial is a bit... masculine for me

And yeah I don't know what happened, Ny, but... you need to keep up with this stuff! *pokes at the hot bod*

There will be a next time, though, this looks like something that folks should start saving up for next year O'course I don't quite know what month this calendar will start on lol.

    The art SG ?

I'm thinking if people have the missions ready we could farm Frostfire sometime soon
  22. /e bow

Tell that to the griefer jerk that came through KR the night we were playin in the art sg. It'd be real nice if people could pay everything forward, but even then it wouldn't take away the jerkoffiness of some folks.

Gonna be off today so I'll try and get the finalists onto their own page, and show donation stuffs more clearly. Thanks again all.
  23. Looks a lot shiny But pretty cool. That's really good advice, I should try it.

    Unlurk! Unlurk!

    The art SG ?

Can we get this thread stickied? It doesn't really have much bearing on the Liberty server location as such, since we're all kinda fanatical about just *us*. Who do we poke to get this stickied?
