A question of... Protocol

Well, Last night I decided to start putting up my characters on a web page... with their ingame bio, concept images, refrence shots stuff like that.


I know it isnt "art" per-say... but I was wondering what you artists think about it.
Basically:
Is my signature enough of a clue
are the pages adequite(only the first two characters are "done")... in sofar as would the information and pictures given be adequite for you to whip something up... too much of anything, too little.. too small too big..


If Im going to put up pictures, and make my characters "accessable" to the casual artist (as well as anyone I ask/hire for a commission)
I want to make sure Im "doing it right".



any help/suggestions would be great. (the link is in my signature.)


I know its pretty sparce, but Im sort of going for "Cheap functionality", and this is what ive got to work with.

It's a nice start, though a bit sparse. You might want to download the COH fan kit, which has images and logos and the like.

Also, did you take the photographs of women's faces that go with these? If you did, that's great but if not you *must* link to their owner's site (and have permission to use them).

Otherwise, it's a nice idea and a good start!

I think its good! The screenshots are VERY easy to see detail, and the bios give a lot about their personality and history.

Oh, also, make sure that you have their powersets. I also like to say my travel power and pool powers. If you want more detail, things like height, eye color, etc. is good info too, but thats getting pretty specific, hehe ^^;

Those I do have, I'll be including on the character's individual page... but at least one (the one for ADG) I have no idea where I got it... ive been trying to find out who the model is for over 3 years with no luck.... Im almost HOPEING someone runs across it and goes "Hey JERK, thats MINE!"

but yea, As i said I just started this last night, and into this morning... so it will be getting more "legal" as I go...


as to it being sparce... do you think its "bad"? I mean I could go walls out and make it all flashy... but if it isnt a benifit to the page.. why bother?

were you speaking "in general".... or did you not see them...

where would be a better place to put them?

Oops! yeah, I didn't see them I'm not a pro website designer, but maybe you could try having all the info on the bottom at the top, and then have the history after it.

For example:
Name
Powers: ____
*: _____
*:______
-Bio-

I've seen a lot done that way, but your way is perfectly fine too, I just don't have a good eye - sorry!

Oo, very nice! Putting it next to the pics is a good idea, because visuals are what the eye is naturally drawn to, so they'll see the text next to it

hahah.. you have no idea how many times I had to remake that character to find the top that got missed by the thorns....

Pretty nice. I would also suggest doing a direct front view pic along with the current 3/4 view.

yea... I guess Im just a little OCD about symmetry... and from a (not artist) perspective... it didnt seem terribly necessary to have a squared up image, when everything was already "visible" with the angles already presented.

Im sure I'll have to do lots of revising over the weeks and months...

Great stuff... you'll spice it up visually I'm sure, but content is king and you are off to a great start.

What do you think I could do to work towards "completeing" the content (other than, you know.. putting up other characters...)

same basic set up as the others... but I figured I'd point it out incase anyone cares.

You do have a good start there, Empress. There is always HeroCorps and Crey Industries though. I suppose a website always the utmost of control over the look of the site. Though, I would recommend a background rather quickly.

I'd love to do this with all my characters, but the shear amount of characters I have makes it a terrible undertaking... Good luck keeping your site up to date.

hahah... up-to-date is easy.... getting it "complete" will be hard.


luckily though, Im only including characters that I consider "regulars" for me... (i.e. not just every single alt ive made.. cause right now I have to delete two alts just to make a new character ;P)


I'll look into a background... Im not exactly sure how to do it in hometown (in the past ive only ever used it as a free pic-hosting site, cause, well, its free, and when I started most free sites were just starting to "not work" when you hot linked them...)
