Howdy there! I've finally decided to tentatively delurk here because it looks like a fun place. I even got myself a Deviantart page since I guess to participate, ya gotta share. It's a mixed bag with lots of drawings from various games I've played and stories I've written over the years. I'm just a dabbler and a doodler who likes to draw her own characters from time to time.

There are a few drawings of my CoH main, The Masked Shrike. They're actually from her days as an RPG character, but here and also here are a couple of screenshots of her. I'm amazed at how closely I was able to replicate her in CoH!

(She's all glowy 'cause her powers are light-based. Invulnerability is so perfect for her!)

Anyway, I'm excited to be here and I am planning to commission some pieces soon. I think it would be really cool to see other artists' conceptions of my beloved CoH characters. So many talented artists!

Hopefully I'll be inspired to start drawing again.

Welcome! Really glad to have ya. I myself am a semi-lurker XD Very nice artwork but I really wanted to comment on your toons costume.

It's wonderful.

Simply a very clever use of costume pieces brought together to make a unique look. I love it.

Nice work. Looks great. BTW, I think I've seen you around in the game, TheMaskedShrike. What Server are you usually on?

Your art work of real life is beautiful!

I like your character personally. A very tastefully done costume, though, yes, it could use those aviator goggles. That, would be nice... though.. I think if you applied a tan/black mask to the head and used the goggles up you may get the same effect. Certainly not the side earpieces as, sadly, I think that may be one too many head pieces... I forget though and if I get some time I may have to play around with it later tonight.

Elfquest, Superheros and Pern = lurve! You might click on the link in my siggy to reach my elfquest-like world and get on the list to become a character in my world

I like your color work! Pencils are always fun, they blend nicely enough and they don't leave so much schmutz on the page like pastels.

I'm so sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I haven't been able to get back to the forums until tonight, and I wanted to reply to the friendly comments.

Thanks for the kind words about my artwork and The Shrike's outfit! Powerforge, I guess I never thought of it as a 'good' CoH costume, it's so simple. I actually have the outfit in real life and have had some fun dressing in it for Halloween RPG sessions (though I hope those photos were burned!) I really was stunned by CoH's character creator and how easy it was to make a near-perfect version of it in-game.

EchoedRespite, thanks for the ideas about ways to make a 'flight helmet' in CoH; I will try that. I'll have to make another request for flight helmets and jodhpurs in the costume request thread

Krocket, The Masked Shrike lives on Victory, that's my home server. Maybe I've seen you around?

Zekiran, yes, I do love Elfquest, Pern and superheroes! Always glad to meet another person who does. I actually took your Otherforest test a while ago, and it was cool. I wish we had Elfquest and Pern MMORPGs, I'd never leave the house...

As for pencils, I think I like them because I am a control freak, and they don't get away from me like other media. I've tried oils, watercolors, acrylics and pastels, but I always go back to pencils.

You guys have inspired me to break out the pencils and paper again! This is a neat forum. Thanks for the welcome!

Hello there! Nice artwork, btw.

I like seeing some colored pencil work like yours - its well detailed and gives the medium real weight.

The Masked Shrike stuff has a real pulp novel feel that's cool. Also, your Shrike drawing (and forum avatar) is reminscent to me of World War 2 bombers' nose art - also very neat.

Good luck with future artwork!
