  1. I just wanted to throw in that I played this one recently. It was nice character arc and a darker story. I did with a level 20 blaster, and had no major trouble with the foes.

Story-wise, I thought it was pretty good in that your contact didn't make me feel like I was just along for the ride. By asking for my toon's help and making it seem like they were working in tandem, it certainly made it more appealing. I also like that it was a straight story of human(or superhuman) stuff - not every arc as to be Epic or pure silliness.

The story had enough drama to work well, but wasn't over the top, I think. Also, a logical use of the Council and Family - especially given that they overlap so much in places like IP.

That's my take on it. Cheers!
  2. Just wanted to throw that I thought this one was pretty good! A cute concept on Archanos most incompetent agent, there's some funny stuff that's right in line with what I'd expect.

The laser sharks were a cute idea, but I was more amused by the Malleus Mundi joke and the results there.
A nice spread of different groups and challenges.

I played it with a level 5 corruptor, and it was occasionally challenging but not overwhelming for me. Thanks for a great little mish!

Missions where you have to defeat a boss.

Missions where you have to defeat everyone.

Missions where you have to find a particular object and click it/destroy it/protect it.

Missions where you have to find a guy, beat up some bad guys around him, and lead him back to the missions entrance.

so basically every arc ever written up to and including canon.

OK - so I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this as well.

How about Clockwork arcs? The one I'm working on takes off from Clockwork stories...or does that fall into too many robots?

On side note, although I have loved every mission so far, as anyone noticed a lot of "office worker" enemies? I think I've run three different arcs where there's some variation of the theme.

    Just wondering.
  4. As an MST3K fan (in case the avatar wasn't a clue), I'll be sure to check it out. Looks like fun!
  5. Being a former Texas resident, I think I know exactly where that is...so let me get Ouroboros portal going and I'll come pay you a visit.

That building always struck me as a little strange...but who knew it was the gateway to a time-travel interface?
  6. Chiming in on this for bit. I find myself shocked, but...not really surprised in the long run.

Basically, and I think it has been discussed before, how could Cryptic support COX knowing they were creating a similar, but competing system for Marvel/Microsoft? Especially, if rumor is correct, that it was also going to be catering to the console market plus PCs. Well, we know the answer, in spite what might have been said, it didn't look like it was gonna stay that way.

Generally thinking would be Cryptic was using COX as a basis for other projects; as the workhorse of the studio. I think releasing it to NCSoft meant freeing up resources, and probably garnering some incentives from the companies they are working with. Given Microsoft's penchant for involvement, ala Bungie's annexation with the Halo franchise, I think Cryptic may find themselves both more successful and tied down at the same time in their future projects. One other slightly less noted detail in the release - Cryptc's design systems will be used by NC Soft in the future. That's a nice bonus for Cryptic.

I think what shocked me in this statement is that Jack Emmert would just let it go without either leaving Cryptic or having his name included in some manner ( Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa, anyone?) Despite what may be said, it was his vision for the game that started COH - I'm just surprised he didn't claim more ownership of it in some form. Maybe its all in the details.

As for COX, I suspect it will be a workhorse for NC Soft - one of the cornerstones of their North American division at least (Guild Wars being another one I suspect). The good news for us players is that they will probably be willing to greenlight some developments that Cryptic couldn't/wouldn't do for manpower/resource reasons. This will probably mean some great stuff for us I have no doubt!

However, will NC Soft be demanding results with every change? Will they want to mandate directives that have more to do with marketing than gameplay? Will we start seeing, for example, in-game advertising for on all those signs around Paragon City and Rogue Isles, ala Sony? That kind of stuff is two-edged - there are things we may love but I'm sure there will be those crying "DOOM" over the next set of changes.

What does reassure me is that the core team remains intact - the team we've seen develop this game so well in many respects. I hope that they are allowed to continue doing neat things; that NC Soft allows them to successfully expand both depth and details in the games.
  7. Awesome Blossom! Thanks for including IG in the pic, Alex - should be fun!
  8. Nice work! Sounds like its been rough going; so thanks for making some entertaining videos!

Looks like you're building up to someting of confrontation for the gang against Sedaris. Should be interesting.

    Follow Me!

    Nicely done...and amazingly expressive.

I get the feeling we could go right into a little transitional montage sequence we some upbeat music and amusing little action viginettes.

I hope that doesn't sound sarcastic...I really mean it...it all flows prefectly in my head...
  10. Scarf,

Just wanted to say this was an interesting process having read this thread through. You certainly managed to take the best of the analysis and make it work quite effectively.

I really like the colored pencil look. Maybe because it is based on a comic book theme, I think the coloration works well. It almost has newsprint/pulp quality you mention, in that the colors are slightly imperfect as a result.

Finally, I have to add that Jinn comes across with a "good girl art" quality in the color form - also a hallmark of pulp style. I think the fact that she's a devil girl; mischievous smile; the curve of her mid-section; and a rather tight outfit probably is what leads that way. I think the open toes are the only things that distract from that look, if you were to change anything.

Anyhow, just my thoughts. I don't really have any more constructive than that to add.
  11. I am bummed to see this go away. It seemed such a natural way to express the game's background - the comic book.

I wonder, beyond finanical reasons, if the folks at Cryptic/NC Soft were kind of making it difficult to tell interesting stories. It seems like they didn't want to stray to from game canon with the chracters - there wasn't alot added to the background at times - perhaps to keep pace with what was going on with the online game's background. It also looks to me like they weren't thrilled with Blue King's take on the idea. All in all, I wondered if there was simply not enough flexibility.

Also, I can't help but wonder now whether NC's got problems with expanding the game to other media. The novels didn't seem to do too well - given that they canceled the third book in the series. The comics were changed, and it looks like they didn't fly. I'd be curious to know how the TCG is doing - will that be closed when the contract runs out?

I'd love to see COH get more chances to expand, if only to build on what the game has devloped as a background. But I do wonder what's next for the game franchise.
  12. Have a wonderful b-day!
  13. Yea - I just saw the email update from the site.
Kinda surprised me - hope you feel better soon!
  14. Hmmm....maybe Jennifer Garner (akin to her Elektra look)?
  15. Very nicely done!

I don't know if its the way you inked your lines (they seem very bold), but it has an icon quality (or trading card look, if you prefer).
  16. Hmmm...well Valk resembles a red-headed Jennifer Connelly to me. Rowr's little tougher to figure out - I think it's the stripes ( ). My guess would be Helen Slater - but that's because Rowr's looking rather blonde to me in the pic. Have I dated myself with that last guest?
  17. Well...maybe he meant your the "It-Girl"?

On the other hand, maybe he hasn't noticed your Avatar?

And before this thread gets anymore off track...

Nice Artwork, Aero. I like the unconventional pose - like he's on hero patrol or something - not necessarily striking a generic pose.
  18. Wow! Cute and sexy; I like the how the colors seem to glow out - it definetly adds the to image.

Of course, this leads to me to ask if they'll be showing us their treasure chests. Yar!
  19. Really nice work - what I like is that the action quality makes it seem more menancing. It's like the villians are pouncing.

Nothing against more portrait-like stuff, just a nice change to see compared to the "we're brooding" approach for villains.
  20. Well if you're going to go for a fire theme, it seems to me you'd need a hunky fireman or handsome devil to keep whatever fire-girls you pick company

Somehow the thought of a man/being of fire doesn't seem as cute an idea as your ladies of frost one turned out. Of course, if you're going to be more evil about it, then it makes total sense - maybe?
  21. Very neat theme! The artwork is very slick, and yet amazingly cute as well!

A couple of thoughts come to mind:

    *What a lucky snowman!*

*Clearly, Frosty's been working out! No more snowball gut for him*
