  1. I'm ditching my Super Group and starting up one of these "guilds" they keep mentioning in the article.
  2. I saw a star like that over Tina Macintyre's head in Peregrine the other day. When I clicked on her, she gave me the dialogue that I wasn't high enough level for her mission (whatever it was- I was only 39 at the time) and the star went away.
  3. I'm still wondering how the Tsoo tie into the new DA. I know they worship their ancestors, so if the god of Death is resurfacing, perhaps he brings some of the dead Tsoo with him, but is that all there is to it?

    Rikti Supers?

Cool- never noticed that before! Sounds like the Four from Planetary.

    Rikti Supers?

I'm tempted to write an AE arc of the first encounter between Arachnos and the Rikti, if only so I can use this as dialogue when Lord Recluse meets their Ambassador.

"Rikti, meet Richter." "Richter, meet Rikti."

I was thinking possibly the same thing, although Lothic raises a good point about it not necessarily being the ideal spot for it. Maybe they figured it was a good midway transit point between north/south/west IP and Terra Volta?

(They'd presumably also have to add other copter transit spots, rather than assume you take the tram and hop onto a copter pad at some point midway. Anyone notice any other new helicopters in any other zones yet?)

In any case, I'm inordinately tickled by finding something new in the game that no one else seems to have noticed or known about. Not something easily accomplished in a game with so many people, many of whom have more time to play than I do (though I wish it were otherwise.)

    Rikti Supers?

Interesting insight. I also realized just a minute ago that- again, IIRC- the Rikti have some issues with magic (not understanding it, not utilizing it, being vulnerable to it), which would suggest that at least one of the Origins is not available to them in their world.

Could the proliferation of Origins be somehow intimately connected to the degree to which supers exist across the worlds? I'll probably have to go back and redo the Origin of Power arc to recall what it says about them all. But perhaps the Rikti come from a universe where one (or more) of those Origins are absent, and thus others may be "stronger" than on Primal, where all are present (ie, Rikti technology blooms larger than on Primal Earth, due to the imbalance. Sort of like how blind people use their other four senses better or something.)

    Rikti Supers?

Watching the Ustream feeds and just thinking about random CoH lore. As I recall, the Rikti are from a parallel Earth where Nemesis baited them with robot duplicates of the Signature Primal Heroes which is what eventually turned their attentions to invading Primal Earth.

I don't recall whether they were Rikti prior to that or not, or how they became Rikti (I want to say it had something to do with the Battalion/Coming Storm?)

One thing that has me thinking, though, is- were there ever any superheroes on Rikti World before or after they first contacted Primal Earth? If not, why? And is their parallel Earth like the Praetorian Earth in that it has duplicates of Primals (ie, a Rikti Marcus Cole).

Related to that last thought, the origins of the Rikti name. Rikti... Richter? Hmm...
  9. Just saw this tonight while running tip missions in Independence Port. There is a Freedom Corps helicopter on a barge just a little north of the Terra Volta entrance that I'd never seen before. When you click on it, it says you cannot enter at this time. No one else online at the time seemed to know what it was either.

Anyone else seen this? New Trial location or something?
  10. Manticore: "Not like this! Not like this! Like this!" and he grabs a jetpack and flies into the Rikti Mothership.

That's what happens when you don't have a failsafe release on your harness to prevent it catching on fire and causing your explosive arrowheads to blow up.

IIRC, there is a text caption during the chase to the effect of "open the Kora tunnel now! I don't care where it leads!" which is probably the explanation for why/how everyone ends up in the Abyss- (un)luck of the draw.

That was a pretty wth! moment for me, too. I was like- "I'm only level 30! No way I can solo Hami!" Didn't even need to see Hami to know where I was (been to the Abyss many times), but actually seeing it there was pretty freaky.

I didn't get close enough to see if Hami was a legitimate threat (I assume not), or just window dressing.
  13. Just ran this one last night finally, so I'm playing catch up now...

Glad to see I'm not the only one who was thinking... wth? I kept waiting for, as you said, some hint he was playing a con on everyone and that he'd end up being behind the Rulu-Shin's theft all along, but it never came. Doesn't sound like it happens villain side, either, which is where I thought it might be touched on (since it isn't hero side.)

    Very odd.

    NO-PRIZE time!

Primal Duray, while seeming to work with Praetoria, is really working with his Praetorian Counterpart Colonel Duray, so that the two can eventually team up to perform a double-cross against Emperor Cole, and thus pave the way for normal humans to take over both worlds.

(Now, I still have sadly not played through the Sutter arc, so I don't know how/if this holds up, but it seems the likeliest theory to me.)

I thought Malta was organized in cells, or am I confusing them with the Sky Raiders?

(And isn't there a mission that shows that the Sky Raiders and Malta have fairly close ties? Or am I confusing that one, too? Guess I might need to go replay some of those SR/Malta mishes...)

Yeah- there's some strangeness going on with Keyes. In his Praet arc, while he's self-interested, he seems less "eeevil" about it than other Praetors, and has some degree of societal concern. In the story prelude online here for the Invasion story, he almost seems decent...

And then when the Keyes trial came around, he's positively genocidal. Mother messing around in Keyes' head, maybe?
  18. There have been a lot that I've noticed in the new content, and it really does take me out of things, if just momentarily. The biggest blunder by far, IMO, was in the first story of the Signature Arc (heroside) wherein the story contains several spelling errors, but the main villain's name is given differently in the final story clue than everywhere else in the story itself (including on the very same villain in the final mission).

I would have bugged these, but I'm not sure it's worth the bother (as I still see misspellings and grammatical errors in the old content that I've bugged before).

I love the game, and I'm not a big complainer, but grammar and spelling really irk me and I hate to see these simple things detract from such a great gaming experience.
  19. Methinks someone should read Astro City v.2 #1, "Welcome to Astro City."
  20. I really enjoyed this first installment. The new maps were really cool, the different mechanics vis a vis a "find and defeat" run were interesting (with a means to try and stop the hordes of pumicites), and of course the reward table was nice.

The thing that was very glaring to me were the grammatical errors and, most noticeably, a major NPC in the story having a different name in the end of scenario clue than he had in the entire arc up to that point (Lemkin mysteriously became "Menkin"). They may seem like small things, but for the anticipation and obvious effort that went into this story, they stuck out like sore thumbs for me.

(I've only done the Heroside arc thus far.)

I loved the new model for the Magmites, btw. (Is that a new model? Or have I just not been to the Hollows in a long, long, time?)

It was also my first run-in with the new CoT since the headstart began, and they turned out much better looking than I'd expected.

They also talked about it at the Comic Con panel. It's one of several changes to the method of getting contacts. Another is a list (in the Contacts tab) that will show contacts that have missions for you right away, and a teleport button to instantly take you to them.

Also, the Contacts are supposed to have animations (in addition to the arrow icon) that will help you to distinguish them better.

They could be one of the other Carnival factions. At the Comic Con panel (there's a video link someone posted in the Reveals thread), they mentioned that there are two other Carnival splinter factions in addition to the CoL: The Carnivals of War and Vengeance.
  23. The real question is- who is Antimatter contacting on Primal Earth, and is he planning on turning against Tyrant?
  24. Zombieluvr

    New zone?!

I, for one, would love for the new zone to be an Oranbega co-op zone.

In any event, whatever co-op zone it ends up being, I think it would be cool to have villain *and* hero contacts there, so that you could run missions for whichever side you were a part of, and not feel like you were shoehorned into doing missions for the other side (yes, they'd be door missions, but it would still feel like you were on your chosen side, even still.)
  25. I'd do an Oranbega zone, accessible through various underground entrances (Troll Hollows, Mount Diable, Nerva, etc.). Make it a co-op where heroes and villains vie against the Circle of Thorns. Throw in some Mu-related stuff (maybe a SF/TF), get the Igneous involved (maybe Igneous the Magma Master could finally show up as a GM/AV). The Midnight Squad would be the primary organizing force for heroes and villains in Oranbega.

Also, in re: Mr. Gray's idea of non-Arachnos allied Rogue Isles, I'd love to see them put together some kind of Warburg co-op SF/TF pitting heroes and villains against the nutty Marshal Blitz.
