I think the thread needs a bit more Doom.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM -

What about those who have?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, for those newbies, I think Wrath of the Lich King might be the thing. Getting a newb to a perfect build on their few first days requires some chinese gold farming help IMO. -
Let's review from another light:
Day Jobs: Small nice things you get from being offline - nice to come back and get a bit more inf or exp, even if you're a level 1 character. A small treat that makes logging in fun instead of "damn, I still have 4 bubbles of debt to clear"
Merit System: getting rewarded in an uniform fashion from doing more requiring things and being able to choose your reward from doing that is a nice thing. Sure, a newbie will screw up their merit purchases, but so what.
Leveling Pact: Great way to start a new game with that special someone or a good friend. This way, even if one of you has more time than the other, you won't end up playing separate or unbalanced. The sidekick system was a good step towards this, Level-pacts are a step further.
New Content: later level stuff, 20+ and 35+, not really useful for the new players, also I think devs should still add some more nice stuff to do around levels 28-32. The lower levels are full of content already anyways
Multi Builds: These are more for the end-game than the beginning
New Powersets: Omg, I can make a Captain America clone! pretty much instant stuff for the newbie to enjoy. Also added bonus of "Why is my scrapper called GenericHero3422 now"
Base changes: Supergroup base is a thing that a group of friends starting the game will most definately want. Thus any positive changes made to it will be good stuff for the beginners.
PvP changes: PvP is now more accessible to those who haven't spent an eternity farming for the perfect build. This very much includes the newbs. -

Have you:
Re-built your base yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Check, did some tinkering on College of War base, but it's still work underway. In any case, it seems aldwych's the one who'll be doing the majority of our base work this issue, at least he seemed to have ideas...
[ QUOTE ]
Made a Captain America Clone yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, but made a cop, that's almost as common, and teamed with half a dozen clones or more so that almost counts
[ QUOTE ]
Converted your salvage to brainstorms yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. did some total of 8000 conversions (salvage to brainstorms, brainstorms to invention salvage) to get the last crafting badge on my main
[ QUOTE ]
Lost a crafted item behind a base wall yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not yet, but as said, not much base-design from me this issue.
[ QUOTE ]
Petitioned a Captain America Clone yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. Quite a few.
[ QUOTE ]
Converted your brainstorms to salvage yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup.
[ QUOTE ]
Earnt a merit yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Some 250-300 now, spread on various chars.
[ QUOTE ]
Done a boring TF just for the merits yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sort of. We started Positron before I13 on a College of War team and finished it after I13 hit
[ QUOTE ]
Done a dual build yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. But not on my main.
[ QUOTE ]
Done a respec yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yup. But not on my main.
[ QUOTE ]
Realised you should have done the dual build after the respec yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not yet
[ QUOTE ]
Decide to not play a character just for the day job yet?
[/ QUOTE ]
I made a new char so I could leave my main to getting day jobs for a while -
You're totally thinking like I am now. Grant Cover is a power Shield tankers should want. (Can't wait to say "I told you so" to anyone who disagreed on the first days of i13 , been campaigning for it since the issue hit)
-
No, that's the other one and it works like a charm. Phalanx Fighting is the power that gives you +def depending on the number of teammates near you. But the numbers don't seem to change even I slot defense enhancements into it.
-
Phalanx Fighting (Shield Defense) accepts Defense enhancements, but apparently they don't affect anything. What's up with that? Have I missed something obvious?
-
Well, as most of you lot know, Cowgirl Authority is mine. At 22 I'm already seeing the problem with shield/mace - way too many good powers to take for a ST offensive Tanker
-
The only real problem I'm seeing is that there has already been cases where people have been kicked from SGs for not playing in SG mode. This might increase with this addition.
-
Well, elitist in the sense that "it's better to be amongst ourselves than include outsiders" in this case.
-
/signed.
Anything that encourages elitist groups and shunning outsiders gets my vote. -
As a followup to that, is it for only people who RP in certain circles or for anyone on Union who roleplay, even if it's in an environment other than the standard GG/PD crowd...?
-
get to 50, toss 3 dmg/range HOs and 3 recharge/tohit debuff/defense debuff HOs in it, and watch how things just melt away while not damaging you. One of the great things about Blizzard is the ToHit debuff. it's 20% unslotted, which means you can slot it to a bit over 30% on a blaster. That actually means quite a lot vs. enemies with base tohit of 50%. Add to that the knockdown and slow it does and it's really effective vs. large groups.
-
I'm a bit disappointed in the pain domination. All villain power effects seem to be tinted red, which is boring.
-
The way I read Castle's rambling was that they wanted to revamp the zones, but they didn't have time for that yet, so they'll focus more on the power changes this time and do the content changes later.
-
[ QUOTE ]
And yes Alvan, as Dr_Mechano says, you could spam o2 boost on any target to make them un-heal able. Though doing that to your own side is a little villainous
[/ QUOTE ]
I would never do such a thing, was of course talking purely in theory...
*goes to level his stormie*
-
One thing... Does the healing changes mean that I can grief any healer-damager combo by running after the damager with my unslotted stormie and o2:ing them to keep the healing suppression up?
-
The good:[ QUOTE ]
<ul type="square">[*]Diminishing returns from buffs[*]Melee range increased[*]Travel power suppression triggered from damaging others, being damaged, healing (self or target), buffing, debuffing, placing an entity or from debuffs[*]Control duration normalized[*]Damage adjustments[*]Epic Armors, Tough all grant resistance to all damage types in PvP along with a global resistance buff[*]-75% Range in Taunt powers[*]Buff to MezResistance
[/ QUOTE ]the w.t.f:[ QUOTE ]
<ul type="square">[*]Healing won't be as effective
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh well. On average still looks good. -
Remember, if you end up quitting coh because of these changes, turn your stuff over to me
