Can I change my hero's name?
SuperGroup 101 (aka Can I change the Colors/Symbol of my SG)
What level do i.....? (Aka What Powers do I get after 40)
What does the term _________ mean?
How do I get my Cape?
What Titles are available when I hit Level Fifteen? Level Twenty-Five?

We have had this question forum for quite a while now, so some of the questions that are asked many times are starting to get pushed down to the bottom, and asked and answered many times over. To save your time when you are looking for an answer, please follow this advice.
If you are looking for information about your NCSoft Account, i.e. activation, cancellations, buying a second account, your best resources is the NCSoft Support Page for answers such as;
What happens to my account and characters if I deactivate my account?
Where can I buy a second CD-Key?
When it comes to questions like this you will want the information from the source, most people that answer here will be quoting information from this site.
If your question regards other areas, your best bet is to use the Search feature of this forum. The search feature is not as easy to use as Google or other search engines, but there is a great resource on How to use Forum Search in the Guide to Guides.
Speaking of the Guide to Guides, it should be the first place you look for answers on game play mechanics. When you want to know what enhancement does what, where a badge is, or etc, the Guide to Guides has all the information you need and more. Answers about Key Binds, as well as Chat Bubble Coloring are all found in the Guide to Guides. The Guide to Guides is located in the Player Guides section, which contains more information on Hero Creation, Power Pools, and general knowledge.
When you are looking for something in regards to a specific Arch Type (AT) your best resource is the individual forums for that AT. While this is the place to ask questions, there is a good chance that the matter may have been discussed in your ATs forum.
When you are looking for an answer to a game feature, or a future game change the Dev Digest is a great place to find what you are looking for. It has the official answer from the names in red. Sometimes you may find that answers may have been pushed off the dev digest, but to get around that, you can just click on the Devs name and choose Show all Users Posts. That way you can see all the Statesman, Positron, or Gecko posts.
Once you have done the steps listed above, you may have found your answer as well as answers to questions you didnt even know you had. If you didnt, please go ahead and post your question, please try and include as much information as possible, remember 99% of these questions are answered by regular users so the more background you give them, the better they will be able to answer. -

anyway i figured that out a long while back when my 1st toon was lvl10 or so by watching others, and ive NEVER seen anyone lvl22+ use this ability, there is just no need, 1st lvl inspires are crap by then.

My level 47 does it on the streets of Peregrine, come by anytime. Been doing it since I was level 1, I call it Close-Contact Fighting, or Contact Fighting.
Sure the level 1 inspirations arent as good as the highers, but then again I have more slots, and 2 level 1's are better than a level 2, and equal to a level 3.
Someone was giving me a hard time about it, and I told them, inspirations 50 inf, not getting hit/held priceless. -
Monkeys are a viable option, and one that a lot of people take, but I put up the Holsten mission because I feel its less risk than monkey hunting in Crey's where there are the snipers, mentalists, and paragon protectors that can catch someone unawares on their first trip in there and make a bad day worse.

what kind of answer is that?
[/ QUOTE ]
That is a Statesmanian answer, or at least one of someone who works for the State department.
Place your bets now. $10 for "On the test server by thanksgiving"
Too bad the NBA has trademarked "I love this game" because its starting to fit CoH more and more. -

Great! But...
I hope its for ALL melee combat and not just for Scrapper and Tanker Melee combat.
If this is another fix like Hurricane (where you said not all melee skills are equal), I think you've opened a can of worms that will have serious reprecussions when PvP comes around.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am sure it is, the reason the thread is title the way it is because it is of a higher importance to scrappers and tankers that use melee more often. -
Well, you may not have gotten it, but it did generate an ambush. Hunt and Deliver missions always seem to generate an ambush. This is actually quite funny on the Numina TF, where you are level 35-38 being ambushed by enemies of a much lower level.
-
1) Any changes planned for the friends list? Specifically to add more, or add by "keyname"
2) How about an option to sell enhancements over the phone?
3) Will there be updates to the search tool to allow getting of "info"?
4) Any SG administration fixes planned?
5) If AoE is taking away people's roles in a group, then why aren't the groups fighting harder mobs? Should we tone down the power of pre-32 controllers, or emp defenders because of their awesome ability to kill greys?
6) Is there any chance to get a "auto decline" of team invites?
7) Any changes to the Hide system? Like /hide_Sg /hide_invites /hide_friends?
8) Is the Datamining finished? Should we bite the bullet and re-do missing TF's?
9) Could an option for "Quit to char screen - enable/disable" be put in so we can choose our own level of security.
10) Any chance of a "Shopping Cart" option for the stores? Buying 30, 40, 50, 60 enhancements at a time can be a tedious proceess. -
At level 30 you are able to unlock the Aura (Auras) option from the costume creator in any Icon store. To do this, you must undertake a mission given by the City Representative in Atlas Park. This mission can be a challenge, but with the proper preparation it can be done simply.
The easiest way to do this mission is to find two others who also need their Auras and get the mission at the same time. Why? Because this mission is a series of hunt missions, each one generating an ambush. With a team of three or more, the spawned ambushes are more than large enough to meet your requirements. It can be difficult to find others that are at the same place at the same time as you. In these instances, the following guide will allow you to obtain your aura with modest difficulty.
1) Make sure you have no active missions, clear all your contacts. You can have one mission active, but to reduce travel time, its easier to have all three mission slots available.
2) Go to Atlas Park talk to the city representative, and get your mission. Your next stop should be in Independence Port Icon store and get your mission to unlock your third costume slot. Your mission from the City Representative will generate a Freak ambush, which cannot spawn in AP, but will in the next zone you visit, be prepared.
3) Head to Brickstown, to the NPC Science Store; Holsten Armitage. Along the way, defeat Freakshow and Crey, which are abundant in Bricks. The Freakshow satisfy your first task for your aura mission. Holsten will give you a door mission for Ritiki, it is important that you defeat 15 freaks before you enter this mission. As soon as you defeat your 15th freak, you will generate a Ritki ambush, be prepared.
4) After you complete your Ritki mission your next mission for the aura will come up; 15 Devouring Earth. These could be waiting for you outside the door, be prepared. Head back to Holsten to finish your mission, defeating Crey along the way to finish up your third costume slot.
5) Your third and final defeat mission will be Devouring Earth. You can defeat these in Talos Island, but if you are a Mutant origin, your best option is to take the mission from Penny Preston in Founders Falls. Penny is the NPC Mutant contact and will give you a door mission for Devouring Earth.
6) Once your Devouring Earth mission is complete, you must return to Atlas Park to finish your mission. Give the items request to the Science contact in City Hall to finish.
7) You can now head back to Independence Port Icon store, and clear the mission for your third costume slot. While you are there, you can customize your new aura.
Following this guide, you will have your third costume slot, unlocked your Auras and have two stores unlocked. If you did this solo, you may have one or two bars of XP filled toward level 31, if you do it grouped, you could have even more.
Remember, even though you have your Aura unlocked, they can be expensive to play with. With Level 32 and new enhancements around the corner, be mindful of your costs. -

What are you talking about, Statesman won both the popular and electorial votes!
[/ QUOTE ]
Ha! When you are evil you don't care about the popular vote! -
Bah you must be watching CBS. Recluse did not conceed, matter of fact he has completed his victory speech.
-
Is there any wonder why this man got my vote?
-
While Lord Recluse and CuppaJo may be too busy liberating campaign funds from Paragon S&L, I feel it is my duty as a citizen to respond to these allegations.
1) That baby incident was never proven, besides, Lord Recluse is on the Atkins diet, and everyone knows that you are allowed unlimited baby.
2) Now we are going to punish Lord Recluse for something he *tried* to do? Obviously Paragon City still stands, so he hasnt destroyed it yet. Where I am from we reward people for trying, we dont punish them for things they have never done.
3) You are aware of the vast Statesman-ain conspiracy in regards to the game manual? As Lord Recluse tries to get the new manual pubished with the updated information that includes powers that exist, it is stopped by publishing. Have you noticed that there have been two issues released since launch, yet no updated game manual that even lists level 41-50!
4) Sure Lord Recluse "experimented" with a Dark Arts scrapper in his wiley youth, but come on, who hasn't?
Recluse & CuppaJo - The only way to go!
Really people, how annoyed are you when you vote for someone that turns out to be a criminal? Vote Recluse now and you don't have to worry about that disappointment later. -
[ QUOTE ]
Statesman was in much more than that, he's a bona fide army vet!
Served in WW1 before he got his powers, served in WW2 after he got his powers, and he helped out with military operations during the Cold War (during which he was hit by a nuke.... ouch)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes but I just saw a special by the "Swift/Sprint Veterans for Truth" that said Positron got numerous deferments due to his suit of armor.
Recluse/Jo - The only way to go!
Recluse:
Doesn't pander to supporters by giving them "Treats"
Willing to stand up for the right to do evil
Offers SG Bases when he is in office next year
Statesman:
Never seen without the helmet, what's he hiding?
Doesn't offer same helmet to new heroes in the costume creator
Has knowingly provided short range missles (rocks) to heroes on the weekend before the election
Positron:
Routinely racks up debt on young heroes, at a time when they need xp the most
Wears flannel before labor day
Also never shows his face.
CuppaJo:
Friend to the little man, no matter how stumpy. (Also likes the Soggy Bottom Boys)
Has high caffine content
Has never had a hero die on any of her task forces.
Recluse/Jo - The only way to go! -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I think Lord Recluse's choice of CuppaJo as a running mate (brainwashed by his scary PVP powers into being a tool of darkness) was the wrong move for the Evil Party platform. It's better to have someone innately evil, who believes in the evil cause, than a turned hero that'll just get rescued in issue four.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, see you missed that "Crossfire" episode, turns out CuppaJo was evil all along.
I'd also like to respond to SpongeCake;
[ QUOTE ]
Well if you want to waste your vote, sure.

Damn Electoral College! -
I don't mean to get partisan, but I am going with Lord Recluse & CuppaJo today. Their vision of the future just fits better with my ideas.

Numpad Binding - 103 Best Practices
While different keyboards vary, certain standards usally apply. The 0 (numpad0), Enter and + (Add) are usually the largest on the numpad. Therefore these keys are naturals for the most oftenly used keys.
Add, which resembles the first aid symbol is a logical choice for heals. For AT's that have self healing abilities, binding the add key allows quick access. Example:
add powexec_name Healing Aura
add powexec_name Healing Flames
add powexec_name Dark Regeneration
Now AT's that don't have any inherent healing ability can use the add button for healing inspirations.
Add "inspexec_name respite$$inspexec_name Dramatic Improvement$$inspexec_name resurgence"
This is a bit of redundancy with the earlier binds, but still, it is better to have two keys that do the same thing, rather than to get debt because you didnt hit the right key in time.
Since you have healing taken care of, Enter and Numpad0 are logical choices for life saving toggles. Each AT will have a different idea of a life-saving toggle, but it is a good practice to put them in easy to reach keys.
Perma-keys can also be used with the numpad. While not every hero I have uses hasten, the - (subtract) key is bound for turning on Autofire hasten;
subtract powexec_auto Hasten
Hitting the subtract key while the autofire is on will turn it off. Something I do when I am away from keyboard or otherwise.
With these steps there is a lot of functionality in the numpad. There are other ways that the numpad can be used, such as for movement. If you have a way that you like to use the numpad, please make your suggestions here. -
Numpad Binding 102 - Using other features.
With only 24 powers available at this time, it would be exessive to use the numpad for powers alone. Using the Ctrl and Alt keys for other functions can simplify matters.
ctrl+numpad1 team_select 0
ctrl+numpad2 team_select 1
ctrl+numpad3 team_select 2
ctrl+numpad4 team_select 3
ctrl+numpad5 team_select 4
ctrl+numpad6 team_select 5
ctrl+numpad7 team_select 6
ctrl+numpad8 team_select 7
alt+numpad1 "inspexec_name respite$$inspexec_name Dramatic Improvement$$inspexec_name resurgence"
alt+numpad2 "inspexec_name Catch a Breath$$inspexec_name Take a Breather$$inspexec_name Second Wind"
alt+numpad3 "inspexec_name Luck$$inspexec_name Good Luck$$inspexec_name Phenomenal Luck"
alt+numpad4 "inspexec_name Enrage$$inspexec_name Focused Rage$$inspexec_name Righteous Rage"
alt+numpad5 inspexec_name Insight$$inspexec_name Keen Insight$$inspexec_name Uncanny Insight"
alt+numpad6 "inspexec_name Discipline$$inspexec_name Strength of Will$$inspexec_name Iron Will"
alt+numpad7 "inspexec_name Awaken$$inspexec_name Bounce Back$$inspexec_name Restoration"
In the above example using the Ctrl key with the numpad will select a teammate. This is useful for Buff/Debuffs, as well as for targeting on assists.
The alt keys are use for inspirations, grouped by the ones that are used more often (at least by me). While alt is used as default on the top row of numbers for the second tray, I recommend using the alt for inspirations and using the Shift key for the second row of powers. Why? you may ask, well, the shift key is usually bigger and easier to find, and when I am in a tight spot, I try and limit mistakes. More on that in the next chapter; Best Practices.
The inspirations are set up here to use the most powerful first, the least last. If you wish to change that, just switch the order. In the binds the last command is executed first, right to left, not as it is read, left to right. -

This is using the keys to execute a power. This can be modified and will be covered in a seperate thread. You can cut and copy the sections you would like as appropriate. -
X) Communicate: Tell your teamates what your intents are. You may know what you are doing, but if you are planning to snipe/infect/tp the boss and your teamate is planning to snipe/infect/tp you are working at counter purposes.
X) Never target a teleporter as the "center" of an AoE attack, unless it involves a hold. Nothing is more frustrating than when your anchor is 100 yards away from the other mobs. -

Boy I wish I would have known this on my early cave missions.
