Aura Mission Guide - Spoilers

At level 30 you are able to unlock the Aura (Auras) option from the costume creator in any Icon store. To do this, you must undertake a mission given by the City Representative in Atlas Park. This mission can be a challenge, but with the proper preparation it can be done simply.

The easiest way to do this mission is to find two others who also need their Aura’s and get the mission at the same time. Why? Because this mission is a series of hunt missions, each one generating an ambush. With a team of three or more, the spawned ambushes are more than large enough to meet your requirements. It can be difficult to find others that are at the same place at the same time as you. In these instances, the following guide will allow you to obtain your aura with modest difficulty.

1) Make sure you have no active missions, clear all your contacts. You can have one mission active, but to reduce travel time, its easier to have all three mission slots available.
2) Go to Atlas Park talk to the city representative, and get your mission. Your next stop should be in Independence Port Icon store and get your mission to unlock your third costume slot. Your mission from the City Representative will generate a Freak ambush, which cannot spawn in AP, but will in the next zone you visit, be prepared.
3) Head to Brickstown, to the NPC Science Store; Holsten Armitage. Along the way, defeat Freakshow and Crey, which are abundant in Bricks. The Freakshow satisfy your first task for your aura mission. Holsten will give you a door mission for Ritiki, it is important that you defeat 15 freaks before you enter this mission. As soon as you defeat your 15th freak, you will generate a Ritki ambush, be prepared.
4) After you complete your Ritki mission your next mission for the aura will come up; 15 Devouring Earth. These could be waiting for you outside the door, be prepared. Head back to Holsten to finish your mission, defeating Crey along the way to finish up your third costume slot.
5) Your third and final defeat mission will be Devouring Earth. You can defeat these in Talos Island, but if you are a Mutant origin, your best option is to take the mission from Penny Preston in Founders Falls. Penny is the NPC Mutant contact and will give you a door mission for Devouring Earth.
6) Once your Devouring Earth mission is complete, you must return to Atlas Park to finish your mission. Give the items request to the Science contact in City Hall to finish.
7) You can now head back to Independence Port Icon store, and clear the mission for your third costume slot. While you are there, you can customize your new aura.

Following this guide, you will have your third costume slot, unlocked your Aura’s and have two stores unlocked. If you did this solo, you may have one or two bars of XP filled toward level 31, if you do it grouped, you could have even more.

Remember, even though you have your Aura unlocked, they can be expensive to play with. With Level 32 and new enhancements around the corner, be mindful of your costs.

Hmm. I didn't get ambushed at all.

Followed the Drs. orders and went to Crey's Folly (risky idea).

Completing the third costume slot mission and the aura mission solo netted me 1 bar of XP + 1 death.. darn Ritki portals.

Well, you may not have gotten it, but it did generate an ambush. Hunt and Deliver missions always seem to generate an ambush. This is actually quite funny on the Numina TF, where you are level 35-38 being ambushed by enemies of a much lower level.

Hmmm - I wish I would have read this before last night - I did the aura mission, but not the other 2 - I could have cleaned them out as well. Thanks for the info.

I'll have to remember this for Energy Arc

If you want to do the aura mission only at minimal risk (and practically no xp), there are easy prey mobs (except for possible ambushes) available.

Freaks along the road west of the FF tunnel in Talos.
DE's at the shoreline below and just east of the gate to TV in IP.
Rikti Monkeys in Crey's: enter Crey's, immediately turn right, they are up high in the structures near the corner of the walls.

These mobs will be mostly grey to a lvl 30 so little or no XP but easy pickings.

I did my aura mission along with 2 other SG-mates who had also hit lvl 30. We had the whole thing done in about 30 minutes. It is MUCH easier than the cape mission.

I also did mine solo with my energy blaster.... Monkeys, Swarm, all in Crey's Folly (which is closer to the Brick green line than Holsten Armitage).... Finding Freakshow is never a problem at level 30.... No more than 30 minutes.

Of course, if you don't have a damage dealer, life requires a teamup.... This guide is a really good idea for everyone else, so that they don't need to find a ton of separate pickups for your various missions.

Monkeys are a viable option, and one that a lot of people take, but I put up the Holsten mission because I feel its less risk than monkey hunting in Crey's where there are the snipers, mentalists, and paragon protectors that can catch someone unawares on their first trip in there and make a bad day worse.

Swarms? Swarms!!
hate the durn things. To get DE in Creys I just run round in the water. I'd rather face manic mushrooms than Psycotic bees who slow me over and over and over again. AT least I can resist the sleeps, no hope with the slows.

I tried it solo. It worked out fine until I went to find the Ritki in Crey's. I got my butt kicked so bad... I died twice before finally asking for help. I defeated all the Ritki I needed (non-monkeys), but whatdya know, a bunch of monkeys appeared out of nowhere and started chasing me. After this whole ordeal, I decided that I didn't want to risk my life anymore, so I went after the swarms.

When I had to do my Aura Missions, I killed two birds with one stone by also doing the level 30 store missions. Holsten Armitage sends you against the Rikti, while Penny Preston sends you against the Devouring Earth. You still need to find the Freakshow somewhere, but I find Talos to be a safer place to hunt them. Just make sure that you do them in the right order (Holsten's mission when you have the "Kill X Rikti" mission, for instance.

Although I find this very useful, here's some more info that may be of help:<ul type="square">[*]As mentioned in step 3, you can get lots of Crey in Brickstown. However, if you're of Tech Origin, you will also need to go to Founders' Falls and unlock the Tech Store (Mark IV) and defeat Crey there also. You won't get enough for the entire set (30) unless you have your difficulty set on the second or fourth setting, but you should get around 20. This will help in unlocking the third costume slot (fourth if you've done the Halloween event).[*]As far as the Freak Show go, Bricks is about as good as it gets unless you can get a Radio mission for them. Remember - if they self-rez, then you will get credit for a second defeat afterwards.[/list]
Otherwise, a great write-up. I still use it to find out which contacts give what type of enemies. I find this surprising since this was written for I2.

If you don't mind doing things for no exp, Talos, IP and TV have both Freaks and DE. Plus you can still do scanner missions in IP and Talos for Lost which will turn into Rikti when lvl 30 or higher.
