No more Crashes!
This patch has fixed my problem, the only thing is that the portraits of contacts and my diff costumes in tailor window are very small.
Wow after two weeks I can finally get my CoX fix. -
What gets me is that it was working flawlessly before Issue 17. I really wasn't expecting any problems because I know there is no way my comp can run it so I thought I would just never turn Ultra Mode on.
-
I was also thinking that DS/Pain looks to have lots of synergy, but I have never played a pain toon. Playing around with mids I came up with this.

Every time I try to use the Facemaker the game crashes, this also seems to occur when I try to start an AE mission.
I was just wondering if this is happening to other people, or is it just me.
Is this a known bug, and is there a solution/workaround? -
Good all round build, and with decent run speed in Granite.

No apology necessary, the problem with text communication is that it can be very hard to convey tone and nuance without going on for pages.
I haven't stripped my fire/traps corr yet, so I went back and played him. I tried diff approaches and played solo and team. I have come to the conclusion that what i really don't like about traps is not the powers themselves (they are good), it's the whole place them at my feet thing.
If I could place Triage Beacon, Acid Mortar, and Poison Trap at range it would improve the set immeasurably. -
Quote:If I haven't made it abundantly clear, everything I've said in this post has been my opinion. As for being countered I didn't realize we were playing forum wars, and I fail to see how a differing opinion counters mine.Stick with the first sentence as the last one just begs to be countered...yet again.
Perhaps I need to add one of those signatures that say something along the lines of my post may include biased opinion. Looking back at my posts I thought I made it clear that I was expressing my opinion of traps for a Corr. -
Like I said maybe it just didn't click with me. I'm not saying traps can't be useful or contribute. I'm saying that other Corr secondaries will provide equal if not more benefit with less effort and risk. YMMV.
-
I do like the alpha soaking ability of the seekers, but on a team it shouldn't be something you have to worry about. I have yet to be on a team without multiple brutes, or a mm or two.
I made Corr to play on teams, and I made a traps just do something besides kin/therm/rad. I'm sure with some adjustments to my play style i could improve the team functionality of traps, but wouldn't another set contribute more with less effort?
It could be the set just didn't "click" with me, it wouldn't be the first time. IMO traps needs a buff/change to keep up with the highly mobile nature of teams, maybe instead of placing traps some sort of following pet the buffs/debuffs like FFG. Another thing that occured to me is the pboe nature of traps, I would like it much better if they were targeted instead.
To the OP, the best advice I can offer is to make one and try it out for yourself. -
IMO
Traps are great solo, not so much on teams. The only time traps is good on a team is when fighting a prolonged battle in fixed position, such as AV's and the like. The problem is that when the team needs you the most (debuffing hard targets), you will be getting pummeled by all the aoe damage that occurs in such a fight. Squishy types are ranged for a reason.
I do like to play mine solo, it's great fun to stack as many traps in one place as you can and pull a mob to your "trap". The problem for me is that Corr/Def are generally team type ATs, if I'm solo why not do it right and hop on my Brute? This is the reason I'm in the process of stripping my fire/traps, and eventually will be deleting him. -
I can't believe that people would use the tools available to them to get the greatest return for their time and effort. Disgusting.
-
I like mine, but then again I may be prejudiced.

My guess is that it would be to much "control" on one toon, plus the addition of another pet. With a stun/fear/rez aoe, a cone fear, a st hold, and the addition of fluffy-- that's a lot of control. I think the devs have already demonstrated what they think about too much control.
-
IMO
Do anything but traps, especially running with two brutes. To keep fury high the brutes need to run from mob to mob attacking and being attacked as much as possible.
Brutes love buffs, especially end recovery. I have yet to see any brute not love pairing with a kin.
I have a 50 fire/traps corr I'm in the process of striping. He's being stripped because no team wants to wait every mob to let you put down @4 traps and then pull the mobs to them. -
Here is my no BotZ build, the Hecatombs can be replaced with Crushing Impact if you looking to save a little inf.

I admit my build does give up some damage for more survivability, and that perma or near energize is nice. I made up for the lack of faster heal by taking aid self, which is easy to get off after a foot stomp.
I disagree about low positional defense being better than s/l soft cap. I am glad to see that you took Soul Mastery for your Patron, a choice I try to endorse every chance I get.
A few notes on your build 1) Why not use another Perf. Shifter in Stamina for the HP bonus? 2) If you are not aware Blessing of the Zephyr are getting their def bonus reduced. 3) If you are slotting for positional defense why not use Aegis instead of the Titanium Coatings? 4) Your build is breaking the Rule of 5 for 16.9 hp bonus. 5) I would suggest taking out the Dam/Range Posi in Dark Oblit and replacing it with the chance for Energy Damage Proc. -
Quote:Exxar do you know why reaching the defense soft cap is so important? I agree that positional defense is better than typed defense, however because you are not coming any where close to any of the positional soft caps on that build it is accomplishing little to nothing of benefit.I advise you to slot for positional instead of typed defense. Due to the way set bonuses are spread out over sets, when slotting for positional defense it's much more easier to have high recharge too. And high recharge should be your priority on an /elec toon because of Energize and Power Sink. With permahaste or close to it, you will have close to perma Energize. You'll also devastate everything with your Foot Stomp. I have a SM/ElA/Mu brute slotted for recharge and positional defense. He lacks a few seconds to permahaste and has about 20% defense to all positions. He's very survivable even without taking Fault into account, having a several layers of mitigation: resistance, defense, regeneration (not to be ignored with near perma Energize), click heal, end sapping. Here's a quick SS/ElA build that demonstrates what you can get:
If you don't know what the soft cap is and why it is important please read this excellent post which explains it in detail.

@Zmoosh
I like the build, nicely done.
Out of curiosity why did you go Soul Mastery for Tentacles and Dark Oblit instead of E-fences and Ball Lightning?
Mostly because of the -to hit in Dark Obliteration, but also you lose the Knock Down/Up with Electrifying Fences. As you already probably know Knock Down/up is a large part of SS's mitigation. -
Quote:Using Oblits in Lf and Footstomp mainly for the s/l def. Yes this build is end heavy, but with Energize giving an end discount and power sink refilling my blue bar it's not a problem. With 55% global rech I find my powers recharge just fine, and yes Footstomp every 8 sec is awesome.Questions:
Footstomp: is it better to go with oblits instead of the +recharge proc? Doesn't the recharge proc have a chance to go off per foe that footstomp hits or is it just that you'll be firing footstomp off so often that makes it good?
Lighting Field: I've used this in the past for good end drain once a foe is nearly tapped out but it needed at least one end mod in it to do so.
With the build above, isn't running oblits in lighting field tough due to the lack of endurance reduction rather tough? LF is pricey to keep going and of course oblits won't add to the end drain but if the benefits outweighed that then I can easily see doing without end mod in LF.
CJ: Going to have to see where I can squiggle a slot from to add a +def and +global rech to it if I swap it into my 49 slot.
Zmoosh, Do you find your powers recharging fine without having hasten? -
Here is a S/L cap build I have been working on. With no def debuff res I went with Soul Mastery for the -to hit, but you could switch it out for Mu with no enh changes.

There is only two ways the devs could accomplish what you want.
1. Implement stores that sell the items like SOs
2. Change the currency of the markets to something no one has and all would have to re-earn.
Did you read my OP? I am not proposing any kind of a cap, just if there was a store that sold everything then no one would have to pay over those prices.
I will say it again, I am not suggesting any kind of cap--either market or personal inf limit. -
Quote:Nitpick: a drop rate is based upon mob defeats. putting things on tables is aside from drop rates and unrelated. I think you meant supply in the market.
Most sets are cheap in the markets. If the devs put Thunderstrikes (which used to be cheap until people figured out how good the set is) on the table would they price it based upon it's desirability or some other factor?
The other issue is the markets are player driven. Players want X more than Y so they pay more to get X than they will pay to get Y.
Most people complaining about market costs come to the market to buy and rarely to sell. Or they got junk drops and want the good stuff. While that is normal human behavior and completely understandable it makes multiple drops rather pointless.
Ask yourself this, what if there were only one set for each type so there was no choice involved? Is that not what having everything buyable would basically boil down to among the players? Is that not what SOs are in the game?
The reason many people hate these kinds of suggestions is that it stems from forgetting that IOs are optional (though highly desirable) and they are loot so some of it is better loot than others. When it is all equally available who would take anything less than the best loot so why have any loot at all and not just give every character max abilities upon choosing?
I don't know how the drop's work. I have heard that purples are @ 1:1500. Is it a roll like combat?
I have only been back a little over three months (love the trench coat btw), and I have had no problem making money. I hooked up early with a good VG who gave me great advice, so I can make inf. I've already got 3 50's set out, though the only purples are on the Dom to achieve Perma-Dom. What I would like to see is a reduction in prices so that I could spend less time farming/marketing, and spend that extra time actually playing with my friends.
