Help with Crab Build

Hey guys, rookie on Build issues looking for help.
I've recently got my Crab to 50,and i have a respec left,and want to respec into a good Farm build and an alt build for PVP. But for RP issues, i wanted to stay with the Mu Patron Powers,and the three Pet powers.

Is there anyway you guys could help me on this?
My actual build covered the whole Soldier Gadget tree,and the Crab Training only left Serum out.

On the Soldier build,only Single SHot and Web Grenade.
Crab Spider has all the ranged attacks, no nova and no frenzy.

I can also skip Travel Powers,and was thinking of staying away from Super Speed and Jump too. Maybe stick with Jetpack.

Do you guys think that with these things in mind,can a good PVE/FARM and a PVP build be created?

Suggestions and critics are welcome!

I'd say we start with one of two things.

A) Download Mid's and make a build that you'd like to start from, then post it here, and ask for tweaks for the sake of farming etc.

B) Share more about what you have in mind for farming. What you plan to farm, if you plan to do it alone, what the difficulty settings will look like.

For a Crab, on something like -1 x 7, just getting your pets at or near perma is enough to walk through some farms. As you get towards +4 x anything, personal survivability I think becomes more the issue.

I have a build I use to farm occasionally (though I much prefer Ouroboros to farms) that consists of all the ranged Assault Rifle attacks, the pets, the Scorpion AoE immobilize, and capped ranged defense. I hold down the nemesis and then we just go to town on them. It's not terribly fast, but it's pretty safe.

If you have something else in mind, like more melee, or permanent pets then some attacks could be left out in exchange for recharge.


I don't know anything about PvP, but I imagine similiar questions arise in regards to what you want to do. I think the standards on travel powers and DPA on attacks are a little more defined for people who PvP a lot though...

Can tell you right now if you're making a second build for PvP, you're going to want to make it a Bane, as Crabs really aren't all that good in PvP.

No Fitness? I'd think if you plan to farm, you'd need to make sure you are endurance sustainable. I guess you could build for end redux, but I'm sure that there's some powers you could drop to get Stamina. I think Serum and some of the melee attacks could be dropped, most are underslotted as is and won't give a huge benefit.

Just quickly looking over what you've got, I'd drop Wolf Spider Armor. Crab Spider Armor should be enough to cover most PvE content. TT:A and CT:O are overslotted, I think that the base slot would probably be more than enough. Hasten is overslotted, three slots should be enough. Same goes for Crab Spider Armor, I would stick a KB Protect in the base slot and call it good.

Your attacks seem a little underslotted as well. You have quite a few of them, and most only have around 4 slots. Unless you just want to frankeslot, 4 slots probably won't cut it especially if you want the bonuses that come with most IO Sets.

As an alternate opinion, I triple slotted Training: Offensive for acc, and that servers me well. Doing that gives me the equivilant of an SO in every power, at the cost of 2 slots. This lets me focus on other things for slotting. Handy since crab with pets is very slot hungry. I agree with taking fitness. It's very good to have as a crab.

You don't really need a travel power. I slot 3 run speed in Mental Training, Swift, and Sprint and that's good. I then use my jump jet for vert mobility as needed. Sure it takes 6 slots, but I saved a bunch of slots by not having to slot acc in every attack. Even vs +3 mobs I still hit 85% of the time. But then I also slotted TT: Tactics for to-hit. That and Training: Offensive means I hit most every time I attack.

I would take serum myself. Having it is nice since it's a self heal. Actually, I believe it's a dull pain clone.

Goshnova I can't tell what you trying to accomplish with that build, save Inf maybe?

Oh darn, I forgot all about Web Grenade. I keep thinking that it causes redraw, but looking at the recent post on here, it's less of an issue taking the gun out for a Crab. Hmm, knowing that now I'd try to fit it in on my build. It's pretty useful, and negates the KB that might be caused by Frag Grenade.

And Zmoosh, I made the build in mind assuming that the OP didn't have a large pile of inf and mostly as a general PvE build. I've never farmed on a Crab Spider before, but I imagine that you would need some good +recharge and defense.

On the defense note, I think that on the build I posted maybe reslotting one of the pets with a full set of Expedient Reinforcement, dropping a slot with the Common IO from Suppression or Frag Grenade and putting that slot in Mu Lightning would be good. Replace the set of Decimation with a full set of Thunderstrike would cap ranged defense.
