Anyone have a Good Tankerish Crab Build ??

I have a crab and its built right now as an AOE Damage machine, which is a lot of fun, but I am thinking of an alternate build that is more " TANKY "

Does anyone have any sample builds or advice. Any powers I should definitely skip ??

I tank on my crab and it's amazing. Really there's no wrong way to do it, I personally avoided the pets and Frag Grenade (to avoid the knockback) and stayed away from the Rifle powers to cut down on Redraw. Tough and Weave help, as does the +3% def to all IO from Steadfast Protection. You need at least 2 KB IOs, and 3 if you really plan on Tanking. For tanking, provoke helps just so you ahve some form of aggro management beyond Suppression and Venom Grenade (Which are VITAL). Slice is good if you want to stay melee, channelgun for numbers I suppose (I took slice). Arm Lash is a decent melee AoE, and Frenzy isnt bad either. The only bad part about Frenzy is it's OUTRAGEOUS END Cost, but if you can get enough recovery than your golden. 3.16% Recovery is enough to keep all of your toggles up (I have Fortification, Tough, Weave, all 3 SoA Tactical Training group toggles, and the pool power Maneuvers. You can skip TT: Assault if you really want to, but the more team buffs the better I say, and your damage output is a HUGE asset to aggro holding. Aim for softcapping your positional defense, with recovery and +hp as a backup set focus. Another build option is to get Serum permanent so you hang at around 2000 hp, which is nice, but I find using it as a self heal when I need it is MUCH nicer. And you'd THINK Omega Maneuver would help, but it doesn't, the aggro leaves you and goes to the bomb, and then you cant use it for 3 more groups.

A note on patrons, I didn't have room for them, but I did get to test out most of them ont he test server on my crab and all they did was kill my endurance even faster. Sould for Gloom is probably the best Idea, but Darkest night did nothing but WRECK my Endurance.

Ok, long post is long I think. But I think I covered everything. If you find there isn't room for a travel power in your build, accept it, I didnt take one and living with Swift/Hurdle/Sprint/Ninja Run is more than enough.

It depends on what you mean by "tanky". Do you mean "high survivability" or "can grab the aggro and hold onto it, keeping aggro off the squishes while fights go on" ?

If you mean the latter, you'll need the Presence pool, and - from what I've read on the forums - you'll still have a hard time holding aggro.

If you mean the former, aim for the Ranged softcap and get Serum as close to perma as possible. Those two can be aided by your pets and the KB of Frag Grenade to keep you alive as much as possible.

In general, I'd aim for smooth ST and AoE chains, and skip powers that cause redraw (e.g. switching between your gun and your arms, switching between either of those and the PPP Mace, etc.)

I use the build below. It doesn't hold aggro, but it can happily run off and solo the shadow cysts in an ITF. Farming Cim walls is laughably easy.

Serum is perma. Mu powers cause no redraw, and there's something delightfully "dark Jedi" about following up red blasts with red lightning.

The Miracle Proc might be a bit excessive, but after dealing with some earlier Endurance issues, I wanted to be sure that End would never be a problem again, and it's not!

I have seen builds that ignore all pets and use Weave instead of Maneuvers, but given my use of pets, Maneuvers makes more sense for me solo as well as on teams. The Weave route does give you access to Tough (and hence more S/L Res), but I find that the mitigation caused by five pets drawing their own aggro, as well as doing their own damage, leads to me getting hurt less and the enemies dying more quickly.

Yes please

I made a crab a while back and respecced her into a "Team Only" build that uses more endurance than a Whale does Plankton.

Running all 3 TT and the main 3 Maneuvers toggles (not Vengance) plus Fort - OUCH.

Having a Tank Crab would be awesome .

Im looking at the Brute Crab build now. Im more of a Ranged Crab so will prob swap out some of the Melee attacks (will be using Sands of Mu if needed, but will prob keep 1 melee attack when on Master Runs).

So far i havent seen a better tanking crab than mine posted here, so ill grin and bite my teeth and post mine cuz its killing me to see some others out there...hope u like it. and i also farm Tv liberate map at +1/8 without difficulty

Just a random and minor off topic question. Why have perma (and always active) Serum? Wouldn't it be more useful as a 'when needed' heal then it is as a perma HP boost?

having any power perma is always a good thing, never is it bad, but noone can make u click the heal or set it on auto, the fact is on the crab heal..u want it to rech asap so u can heal yourself whenever u so choose. i personally use it as a heal when my health is at halfway. Although i wish they would cut the rech time of it down a bit kinda like the Energize power. I still feel it takes a while to rech when i need it the most.

I changed a few IO's around and arm lash now does great damage. and still sofcapped. i skipped the pets becuz when im farming TV map they just get destroyed way to fast. i learned from experience, and your resist seems a lil low, but the each there own
