Quote:HA That's why I didn't take it! I referenced your guide when I was slotting my character, just been so long that I forgot about it. I think I will just leave it off, I did a few missions today and I'm not seeing a great need for it in my playstyle even when teamed, the slots it would take to buff it would be better off in my other powers anyway. This is exactly my position on whether to use Choking Cloud . . . it is the advice I give in my Ill/Rad guide (link below). I also prefer to play from range. I tried Choking Cloud on my Ill/Rad at one time, and found it to be mostly useless.
Choking Cloud's odd way of working makes it less ideal for an Ill/Rad. It needs 5-6 slots to function properly, and sucks down a huge amount of endurance. All that for a part-time erratic AoE hold that takes a while to take effect.
Choking Cloud isn't enough by itself . . . it needs some kind of secondary control, preferably something continual. Fire/Rads have Hot Feet (with Slow and Afraid and damage), Elec/Rad has Static Field and Conductive Aura (to drain endurance), and Ice/Rad has Arctic Air (Slow, Afraid and Confuse). You could combine CC and Spectral Terror, but Spooky alone does the job of control without Choking Cloud's slot and endurance cost. The only reason to use CC is to set up Containment, and I don't think CC is worth the endurance cost and cost of 5-6 slots for a fairly small benefit since you don't have any AoE damage until APP levels. Before that, Blind sets up Containment for your single target attacks, so you don't need CC.
I'm not a fan of set mules, and it is possible to get a perma-PA Illusion/Rad build without wasting the slots and endurance on Choking Cloud. I love it on my Fire/Rad and Elec/Rad, and I even have it on my Plant/Rad.
Thank you all for the information and for your time. -
Quote:Yeah this pretty much describes me. My ill/rad was my first 50 to fully deck out in enhancements and sets and my initial thought process was "The more sets the better" and the Red Fortunes and a Gambler is exactly what's in it at the moment. As for Invisibility... I fully slotted it but it was one of my first characters and now that I've got a lot more experience under my belt I'm honestly considering respecing and cutting slots. Though you can drop 5 Red Fortunes into it for the recharge bonus and a Gambler's proc.
I have more experience with IOs and sets now and trying to respec this guy but still unsure of what to drop and what to pick up. I initially didn't get Choking Cloud, although I can't remember why exactly to safe my life. I do see your point about using it with EMP but I have the Psi pool so no Consume, not sure how well it'll fair for me without it. -
I recieved very mixed opinions when I asked in-game so thought I'd ask here again to get more opinions and so I can read them over more thoroughly. If it matters, my play style is that I'm in Hover 100% of the time and away from the fighting for the most part.
Also while I had a thread open, is it worth slotting Superior Invis with a Defense Set and leaving it on all the time or would it be better to just throw a couple of end reduces in it and use the extra slots elsewhere?
Thank you for your time. -
I just can't seem to decide between these two for a concept/character. I'll end up having at least one of each at some point but I want to focus on one character and I can't decide which set he should use.
Would anyone mind informing me of the pros and cons of each set or their general opinions of their experiences with the sets? Which seems to be more fun and/or stronger?
Thank you for your time. -
I'm working on IOing my lvl 50 TW/WP brute and I'm not sure about endurance. TW can be an endurance hog and normally I'd leave at least one slot in each toggle for an endurance mod enhancement, but do I really need them if I have Quick Recovery, Stamina, Superior Conditioning, and Physical Perfection all maxed out for endurance mods?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll end up giving it a try, I guess my main fear now would be that if it just gets boring using the same powers the entire game instead of unlocking and using new ones. Oh well, will probably just be a side project unless I just fall for it.

Yeah that's pretty much what I've done all night is keep going back and forth in the game and then reading different things about the sets here on the forums. Sadly I've come up with a few characters that I like for both, but I think I'm going to stick with my SJ Stalker for now and then do the TW and SJ Brute later.
I really like the Titan Weapon but for some reason I keep getting the feeling that it would get old to me soon. -
My name kind of speaks for itself, but I've always liked characters that could change into something else. I always thought about doing a PB that just used the two forms and I had started a character at one point but my ADD kicked in and I moved to a new character, but it's always been at the back of my mind.
Is it possible to be a good addition to a team by just using the two forms? In other words will my DPS as a Bright Nova be good enough on a team and could I tank well enough as a White Dwarf?
Has anyone tried this before?
Thank you for your time? -
Work and school has kept me from the game for a while now and I'm trying play a little more on my free time now that finals are about over. I wanted to start a new character to get back into the swing of things before playing one of my higher levels again, but I can't decide between TW or SJ.
I've played bother to around 15-16 and generally like both. Playstyle wise I'm leaning more towards TW mainly because I like the momentum system and I like doing damage to more than one target at a time. But I like the concept/character that I have for Street Justice and I've heard that it as a set gets really good at high levels.
So for those who have played both a good bit, which would you prefer and any tips you could give me?
Thank you for your time. -
Wow I'm not sure why the tutorial never crossed my mind.
Thank you -
I'm wanting to use the current events in Galaxy to go with a back story, could someone point me in the right direction as to where I might find the official statement/story/lore before the destruction of the city?

I have had two accounts for years and really with all the new changes over the past year or two I really don't need two accounts anymore, but really the only reason I keep my second one is because I have a few level 50 characters that I still play on it.
Will they ever add the ability to move a character to another account or is that just asking for more problems? -
Is there a problem with the Reward Tokens at the moment? I actually was coming here to ask about them, I bought points (over $15 worth) but haven't received any extra Reward Tokens for it. Is there something I am suppose to do to receive them?

I'm wanting to deck my elec/elec/mu brute out in IOs but really have no clue where to start. Money/influence really isn't that big of a problem (granted I'd rather not spend more than 3 or 4 billion on it). Most guides I've found seem to be a few years old.
Anyone mind giving me a hand or pointing me in the right direction? -
lol the samething popped in my head when I read that :-P
In any case I just went ahead and sent a petition under the support tab. -
One of my main characters was generic'd this morning and I was told by a friend to talk to Bliz about getting the case looked at. My friend is away now so I have no way of contacting her to figure out who Bliz is and how to contact them.
Any ideas? -
Thank you very much! I guess I've missed a lot more than I realized.

Oh, awesome. How exactly do I get there? Ouroboros?

I'm playing catch up on all the new Incarnate abilities/trials and reading up on other new unlockables. I would really like the Ghoul Flex emote on my 'ghost' character but he is level 50. Is it only possible to get that emote with a low level character that starts in Praetoria?

I normally come up with the powers/abilities first then work on the back story and then the costume and then try and find the name that is already taken . I'm the same way about having a ton of "X Concept" saves in my list. I call them "X Concept #" so that they're at the bottom of my list apart from my established characters who just have multiple costumes or just ideas for that character.
Normally the name I'm looking for is just taken and perhaps in that since I'm not as creative as some. For example one character I've been trying to get back into is a Cat Woman homage character who (brief intro) is a rich young man in the Rogue Isles. He follows in his grandfather's footsteps of being a cat burglar that steals from other rich people and in Robin Hood fashion gives some of his 'earnings' to the poor of the islands and in return they help protect him. He wears a black cat looking costume and is a claw/nin stalker and is a rogue.
But I can't come up with a name I really like for him and the only ones I can think of that I like is a variation of Night Cat or Cat Burglar. Everything else I've found just doesn't fit in my head for some reason.
So that's my main problem, I'm just not that creative when it comes to names lol. -
Ah awesome and the 5 out of 15 isn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Thank you very much! -
I haven't had a chance to do any of the Incarnate trials so I don't really know how all the power choices and such go, but with some free time finally this weekend I am hoping to do some with my Illusion controller.
The question I have is can you pick more than one type of power? I like the idea of going with Lore pets and having more phantasms in my army, but at the same time I really like the look of the fire attack and I think it would compliment my character well.
So could I choose both or just one? I'm guessing just one, but again I have no clue.
My other question is what is about the recharge time on the lore pets? Can I have them out as much as my Phantasm and PArmy or are they more of a "only use when necessary" type powers?
Thank you for you time. -
I just wanted to show off my base and maybe get some others opinions on ways to make it better. It's no where near as good as other bases I've seen and I still have some work to do on it but this gives you a general idea of what I'm going for.
Any and all opinions and suggestions are welcome
