The tutorial is a pretty good introduction to the destruction of Galaxy City. Remember that the loading screen to the Tutorial features a comic book with several pages that you can browse. Subsequent contact missions in the early levels shed light on the situation and illustrate a few personal stories.
Paragon Wiki doesn't have the updated article up, it seems. But it's being worked on.

The shivan meteors hit galaxy, along with a big mama shivan......aaaaaaaand yeah.

Supposedly MTV wanted to move production of the "Jersey Shore" to Galaxy City but the city officials said they would rather die by meteor.
God apparently agreed.
I'm wanting to use the current events in Galaxy to go with a back story, could someone point me in the right direction as to where I might find the official statement/story/lore before the destruction of the city?
