I've never played any of these games, but the Colonial setting of the new game intrigues me. Are they any good? What's the gameplay like? Hitman? Thief?

So... no one likes these games?

Haven't played any of them, but the first two seemed interesting to me. Enjoyed Hitman though.

I saw commercials for this 3rd one and a) the setting is kind of ridiculous* and b) the cutscenes in the commercials (and if that was gameplay....ugh) just looked bad to me. Choppy as hell, not fluid at all.

*the setting would probably be more interesting to me if the commercial didn't look so bad to me and if they had a conspiracy angle going on in whatever ridiculous story they scribbled out for it.

Transformer MMO is coming out "soon" though. >.>

I only played the first game and it looked great as you run across the city like a spider monkey/squirrel hybrid on crack (prince of Persia like). Game play was actually limited to a few kinds of mission types dressed up in different txt. I'd say the game is a mix of prince of Persia and Hitman and Grand Theft Auto (when you are running away from the cops)

I'd discount the choppy adds. Remember, they are showing console game play which is usual pretty suck when compared to the PC.

I love these games. They improve as the series progresses, but I'd play from the beginning if I were you. Very visceral combat sequences, and quite forgiving gameplay (it's not 'easy', but not 'hard' either.)

Since AC3 doesn't come out for the PC until November, I'm going to pick up the first title at 75% off... SWEET!

I saw another/different commercial for this over the weekend. I think it was strictly for the PS3? Totally different scenes/gameplay/animations shown and it was considerably better than whatever system the other commercial was for. Even just the commercial itself was better (flow, idea, etc).

I might have to look into that steam sale

PS3 and Xbox launch on 10/30.

PC (and Wii U?) launch in late November.

AC is pretty good, now that I got rid of that annoying bug where the game froze briefly every time I killed someone.

I think the controls could be a little better, but that's par for the course with a console port. Now I'm thinking I should pick up the other three games...

It was hideous DRM, and the solution is have your firewall block the AC executable.

Have you started playing yet?

Thought the DRM was just to be connected while playing?

No haven't started yet; I mulled over it too long and didn't get it all downloaded yet. Might have to pull a Mental tonight to get some play time in

Well, apparently it tries to do things while you're connected. Fortunately blocking the application doesn't render the game unplayable.

I was thinking of pulling a Full Mental tonight... lots of games out there to play.

played the first one but got bored. Too much sneaking around and not enough action.

Got some time in it and man, what a pretty game. It came out in 2008? And it looked that good then? Had to do the hosts workaround for their online lag, but was very smooth after that. Still have to get use to those controls though; definitely set up for a console controller.

Yup... late 2007, and it looks amazing. Running around the rooftops of Damascus and Acre sure is fun... less so in the latter because of the pesky rooftop archers.

I did think the game would be more stealthy than it is... I routinely brawl with four or five guards at a time to help out civilians for some reason.

We have all been looking at CoH for so long we missed some of the graphic updates in games!

I've learned that I'm the world's worst assassin. I randomly spike some innocent just walking about on occasion. Sometimes on purpose. Then when saving a citizen, I'll spike one or two guards real quick, fight another 1 or 2 in a combo, and then the last guy I parry for another 5 or so minutes for the hell of it. Guys on roofs that I manage to jump down from behind generally just get pushed off the ledge. While on horseback, screw trying to use a sword; I just run em the hell over.

I've yet to actually assassinate an actual target successfully however. It's like they know I'm coming

AC has been a little slow-paced, so I picked up Dishonored, which was a nice surprise, and I finished that in 13 hours with a mostly non-lethal run-through. Then I installed Batman: Arkham City that I bought during last year's Steam Holiday Sale. I forgot how good those games are.

Well, I have always enjoyed single-player games, and I have GW2 to get my MMO fix... but I will miss our community.

You know, I've never played them either. Never even tempted.

But I agree with you, the visual of the colonial look I've seen is intriguing.

1) What is wrong with you????

2) You don't have to miss the community too much. We unanimously voted for you to be the head orchestrator of the City of Heroes Victory Server Reunion committee.

Good luck
