What is AP33?

From the thread over on City Life, I get that it was something to do with a protest event, and characters holding torches, but I missed the events. I'd like to hear the story. Especially curious about comments downthread about "it's still there". Anybody?

Atlas Park 33 - instance on Virtue

It wasn't a protest. It was a rally to raise awareness about the game's closing and the situation. The goal was to spawn as many instances of Atlas Park as possible.

Virtue had 33 Atlas Parks active at the same time, and then the event overflowed into Freedom and then Justice(?).

As people logged off, left zone, etc, the instances of Atlas Park slowly disappeared - but people kept Atlas Park 33 going. It became the unofficial "occupy" spot.

I heard Virtue maxed out at around Atlas Park 33, that's why late comers were going to Freedom, etc.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

After every maintenance, someone has been recreating Atlas Park 33 on Virtue, which is greatly appreciated.

BTW, Leandro visited every zone during the rally, captured all the heros and their costumes, and edited them into one video.

Here are the 3700 heroes that rallied in Virtue that day:

As long as I think that nothing is gonna save CoH, I have to admit that I shed a tear when I saw all those heroes packed there! ^_^

What is AP33?

"Epic" that is what it is and what it represents!

I just know that sometime, somewhere, in another difficult situation when all are struggling to prevail, a small voice will be heard in the chaos "Come on Guys, bear up, we can Atlas33 this no problem!"

Because we are Heroes and that is what we do.

The spirit of AP33 will live on!

I wish I had been there.

(and I am curious, too, how it gets recreated?)

It's someone with GM and/or server admin access spawning the zone manually, and presumably hanging out long enough for players to notice and enter it.

So far no one has claimed credit or managed to ascertain the identity of the mystery benefactor.
