Definitely good that we'd be gaining more hats. Go Valve, get Co* on the roster!

August 31, 2012. A Day that will Live in Infamy. Or Information. Possibly Influence. Well, Inf, anyway. Thank you, Paragon Studios, for what you did, and the enjoyment and camaraderie you brought.
This is houtex, aka Mike, signing off the forums. G'night all. - 10/26/2012
Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

One concern about the idea of Valve buying CoH: I know Valve has a good reputation, but do they have any experience running MMO's?

to TO THE END!

If you mean that it's sold on Steam, then that's true. But then so is DCUO and CoH.

Otherwise, CO is owned and operated by PWE.

Valve doesn't own and hasn't created any MMOs. However considering a majority of the work is already done for them, they can easily pick up a few of the Paragon Studios' devs, and Valve know how to make a good game, I think they could manage pretty well.

Also I could totally see CoH-themed items for TF2. Statesman face plate for the Heavy, Manticore's Bow as a reskinned Huntsman, The Nemesis Staff as a wrench for Engie, etc.

To comment on how stupid this rumor is:
Never mind Gabe's comments on every selling. He turned down 1 billion for EA. Estimates put the company at worth 2-4 billion.

If NCSoft can't afford to run City of Heroes, do you REALLY think they can afford to even JOKE about buying Valve?

On the flip side of the coin...Valve buying NCSoft would be a serious blunder...NCSoft is really trying to stop the money from hemoraging out of their seams...

Valve SHOULD consider acquiring CoH IP from NCSoft...Valve SHOULD NOT consider acquiring NCSoft...waste of good capital in my mind...spend it on something more productive...like paying someone to rearrange all the company executive's sock drawers...

No experience with MMOs directly, but they do have a lot of server running experience. And I believe they run servers for DOTA 2 now? They haven't done a full release yet, but it's there and it's theirs.
