At least 2 of us live on in another game!
Hi Guys,
life goes on sadly and I have been checking out other games and particularly "The Secret World". I was browsing through their forum and was very impressed by the 15 page thread about us (CoH players and game closure) and how supportive it all was. So I roll my first alt and jump into the start zone content and am bumbling about when half way through the mission I get a "clue" to read. No problem, opens it up and SHOCK HORROR it reads: "Golden Girl's sorrow is sweet". Arghhhhhh I squeak, is there no escape from her! Deep breath and carried on. A couple of missions later I have to get a serial number from a piece of equipment. I click on the glowie and up pops the machine plate with the following: Model: MANTICORE Serial #: xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx Have our Dev's been up to a bit of moonlighting me thinks? Anyway it was a real treat to stumble across these two reminders of here. Cheered me up no end. |
Off the cuff, probably 7 stars. Definitely worth a fair shot and a spin around the block.
I know both quests and they are both hard ones that people usually got stuck because it requires either out of normal thinking (that golden girl one was out of boundaries for example) or a good amount of investigation (manticore one is a good example of what kind of investigation you need to do to solve a quest in this game). Game is filled with quests that are both fun and hard if you want to solve them yourselves. However you can find almost all quests walkthroughs in many sources including youtube.
My wife and I have moved to The Secret World as well. I know of at least 10-12 others who have made the same move. If you want to play a mix of X-Files, CoH, and an extra dose of zombies then come on down. Honestly the game is fun, original, and kind of buggy at the moment but its well worth playing.
Too bad my PC can't handle The Secret World* other wise i would try it out at least.
*I blue screen EVERY time i try to log in.
Go's something like, Log In Screen, Enters log in info, clicks log in, says something about getting character list, Screen enters power save mode for what ever reason, Clt-Alt-Del take about 5 minutes to even work, trys to start task manger then blue screen.
Going to miss the fun and nice people here at CoH. Feel free to add me on PS3/XBox360
PS3X360: OmniNogard
Currently playing: Mass Effect 3(PS3) Minecraft(X360) Skyrim(X360).
Does anyone know if Funcom has any relationship what-so-ever with NCSoft? I'm pretty certain EA doesn't.
A friend wanted me to try out Dungeon Fighter which looked like an interesting game, but it's Nexon. Nexon has large investments in NCSoft, and I won't touch anything related to NCSoft. I'll also make certain anyone else mentioning NCSoft/Nexon games understand how the situation with CoH went down.
TSW looks interesting. The "no levels, no classes" comments on the site bring back fond memories of one of my favorite games: Ultima Online. Any game that can balance character abilities and progression without classes or levels certainly has my eye.
CoH has been unique in the sea of cloned MMOs.There are years of possibilities still
in such a well designed, well supported and well loved game.Shutting it down now doesn't
make sense on any level except, perhaps, on some spreadsheets bottom line. I do not
consider this an act of a company that has the interests of its customers at heart. This
calls into question why I would want to be part of any further ventures involving NCSoft.

Alpha and I are going there if/when NCSoft pulls the trigger. We have our serial numbers ready to go.
